I think fans of pure racing, ones who appreciate racing as a craft, already know that light, nimble cars, like Radicals, provide the best racing. On the other hand, there's a huge fraction of simracers who consider racing to be an extension of a larger automotive industry and a part of a wider hobby that is being a petrolhead. That connection, even on a superficial level, between bespoke racing GT3 machines and their road-going publicly available counterparts is something that makes those GT3 cars desirable and attractive in the first place. You could make the same case for a few F1 teams - Ferrari, McLaren or Mercedes. Even Renault tries to leverage that connection with rebranding their F1 team to Alpine (with poor effects though). So I think the reason GT3 is more popular than superb racing cars like Radicals is not because people aren't aware of that racing-related quality. It's because they compromise on that racing quality to tie their racing into a wider lifestyle that being a petrolhead, a car fanatic is. Driving a car that has no public road counterpart disconnects that experience from that lifestyle, makes it a separate thing. The crowd for that kind of stuff is understandably smaller, and even dedicated racers simply flock to the most popular thing, because that's where the competition is. And so GT3 reigns supreme.
Thank you for your service to the community. I really appreciate seeing popular lobbies where people drive anything other than GT3! (We have ACC for that!)
I'm a big Fan of Radicals, even though I love GT3, GT4 and GT3 Cups. A Radical is like a Baby Prototype Racecar. The SR10 in IRacing is mindblowing fun to drive (still a big fan of the predecessor in IRacing). Thanks to Radical and URD that we have now this little SR3 Beauty in AC. By the way in IRacing a lot of people drive the official Radical challenge. Always a lot of fun. With SRS in AC I also had a lot of great races with the Radical on a weekly basis. So I agree that Radicals should be more popular but I like that they are in a niche on its own.
GT3: + has different cars so you can have variety inside a car class + cars that have wide appeal + more forgiving and slower reactions needed + huge less benefit from dd wheels + popular in all sims so can make it easier to drive many sims when you can drive the same car Radical: - bad for getting groceries - mostly talked about by people who want to buy skoda citigo - need to own 3 simrigs to enjoy
It’s only January and I’ve had to score ‘Agree with everything Gamermuscle says in a video’ off my Unlikely Events 2023 bingo card. Even though he can’t count to 7. 😂 And that’s after scoring off ‘GM will finish Daytona 24H 2023 while Jimmer and Jardier DNF’. What a time to be alive.
1:15 James did you watch this year's Bathurst 12h? GT3's do also show how good of a driver the person is, cus gentleman driver can't drive them as quick as the pros, in fact did you watch Maro Engel's pole Mount Panorama? A bloody 2.00.882, absolutely on the limit throughout the lap, it was just perfection, that really showed that for you to get the absolutely max out of those cars, you need a superb driver. Great video tho, keep up the work m8👊
You got a point there! If you want that in a "bigger" car choose the 992 GT3 Cup. The Porsche Cup series is the most close racing I know and you can find free to watch! Everyone has the same car, not much to set up and at the end the best race driver wins. Thats why a lot of talents come from the Porsche Cup. Watch it, or race it in a Sim of your choice!
The Porsche Cup is just a b*tch of a car (if not calling it Satan) and I'm watching the real races as well. It seems perfectly simulated in rF2 including all it's crazy annoyances. The handling is kind of unpredictable and you need to do everything perfect 200 m before it's happening. After two laps the peak performance of your tyres are gone or the wheel rattling after braking a bit more harsh for a corner, but it's at least cheap to get new ones in sim-racing. Everything in the Porsche Cup 992 just screams: Buy an awesome Porsche GT3 R instead. The Cayman GT4 Cup is much more pleasant to drive and the mod they are running at LFM is just super easy in handling. I avoid racing it because when it's too easy, it's more about who bullies the best during a race, so great car for GM I guess😁
I'd say GT3s are a good way to get people into the sim racing sphere and keep them here, when they would otherwise maybe not be interested as long. Exotic manufacturers, awesome noises, variety of choice, not ridiculously difficult to drive. Because of all the choices available in a single class, you only need to discover an affinity or affection for just one of the cars on offer to take part in it. If GT3 was single-make (BMW only for example) then it wouldn't be half as popular as it is!
Ironically gt3 cars are really hard to actually race once people are within 1.5 seconds of pace and doing races under 25 min which is what most people do. GT3 is also way harder than TCR Skippy or a bunch of other cars unless a person is driving from memory rather than actually having car controll , which unfortunately is far too common in simracing.
I have vintage cars for enjoyment - group 5, gto, 90s DTMs, old touring cars - and also the german porsche carrera cup in r3e (the current, not the vintage one) without abs and tc is lot of fun. And GTEs are also way more enjoyable that GT3s, unfortunately they're done IRL. IMO the thing is that GT3s are fine to be driven by new simracers, and lot of them have no need to explore other classes, they just want/can do two sprint races twice a week and that's it.
in all fairness though the iRacing SR8 was too perfect really, not just because it was faster than the real thing but IRL SR8 drivers i've heard of multiple times coming on iracing and saying it didn't have the character of the real car, it was a fantasy car. The new SR10 maybe understeers in places the 8 didn't and certainly doesn't sound as good as the 8 but at least it behaves more like the real car than the 8 did vs the real SR8. ...at least as far as iracing allows lol, it still can bite you without letting you catch it in the way the SR3XXR in AC will but I was pleasantly surprised that at least all the way up until the limit the AC car *FEELS* like the same car. e.g. when this came out for AC the iracing SR10 official series was racing at bathurst so I'd already done a ton of laps there for that, tried the SR3 XXR at bathurst in AC and just going by feel it was like I was still driving the iracing car just with less power, I was up to speed pretty much straight away and I hadn't even booted up AC in months before that, amazing to see when two different sims with WILDLY different ways of calculating the physics can feel the same.
I still am a proponent of the idea of replacing gt3 cars with the new gt2 cars for shorter races. They have the exotic manufacturer thing that gt3 has They're more road car based so the cars are more interesting imo Less downforce and more power so more focused on driver skills with less dirty air
guitar solo vs piano recital. both are difficult to perfect and are equally impressive when performing at the highest level. what you prefer can vary with your moment to moment mood/emotions.
I've always been a fan of cars like the old Radical or the Lotus 79 on iRacing. Never liked any of the newer GT-cars, I think the peak for GT racing ended with GT1/GT2. As soon as GTE/GT3 started, its peak ended...
I wish they didn't get rid of the rx8... And the replace it with sr10 which is literally a worse car for racing. Sr10 is mostly for track day drivers that want higher top speed and lower running costs not race drivers that want a responsive race car.
The most important thing... no fucking arguing about BOP!! or like pople who say "In F1 the fastest car win", thats the point! ...but then again, no one will watch it, if all the cars will be the same... like F2
Edit. NEWER VERSION OF CSP FIXED THE ISSUE. I get "unexpected error" and game crashing and saying "couldn't figure out whats wrong" when I try to drive this car on any track. All other mods work just fine is there a way i can fix this? I really wan't to try the car.
This is an embarrassing question ..... Once you have downloaded the Radical from Race Department, how do you install it into Asseto Corsa ? Thanks in advance for any help !
Make sure you have content Manager and shader patch , then just drag it over top of content Manager then click button on top right of the window and select install content.

Ams2 has great lower level prototypes similar to the radical. They're some of my favorite to drive.
What specific prototypes would you recommend trying out?
@@wackery_zeimer I like the cars in the P3 class, I can't remember the exact name of my favorite but I think it's got Turbo Honda in its name.
