  • In this episode we make an EMERGENCY order for a client that had another vendor fall through! We are happy to help out when we can! So, we're making 3 softball plaques (along with our regular orders) and shipping them out ASAP for Softball Coach Gifts at their End of Season Banquet.
While engraving we check out the orders from the night before and see an order from Germany for a fishing rod holder with the text all in German. We go ahead and get to work cutting it out with the CNC machine.
We also multi-task by painting some earring orders while engraving.
    Thanks for watching!

Very good vlog style video. You both are a dynamic duo. Do you have a favorite paint you like to use on those pieces of wood? The rainbow organization your wife does has GOT to be a time saver. Look forward to more project videos.

Hello! Thank you so much! The rainbow organization just makes sense to me, lol!
Our favorite paint for base coats is High Gloss Rust-oleum Spray Paint. It is easy to wash after engraving and durable. For hand painting, we use Posca Paint pens and Overseas Paint Pens, also in high gloss. Thank you for asking!

Hello, thank you! We paint our base coats with High Gloss Rust-oleum Spray Paint. It's durable against the laser, goes on well and washes clean. Thanks for watching and asking!

Hello! We use 1/8 Baltic Birch. We purchase it from a vendor on Amazon. Here's the affiliate link to check it out. Thanks for asking!

Hi what is under your wood during the cut? I get a lot of flash back does this work

Hello! After much trial and error, we have discovered that the best way to eliminate flash back is to do two things. 1) We lay paper down on the metal mesh. We use painter's paper and cut pieces from the roll. This blocks the reflection of the laser so that flash back is reduced. 2) We tape the back side of the wood with masking tape. This also helps provide a protective layer against the refection of the laser. The tape also helps provide a cleaner backside from heat marks as well.
      Thanks for watching and asking!

How do you keep the engraved sections of wood from turning black and burnt looking when using the laser to engrave and remove the yellow paint?

Hello! We use a combination of efforts. 1. We use high gloss spray paint for the base coats. The gloss cleans easily and reduces burn marks. 2. Double check the focal point. If the focal point is incorrect, it leaves more marks. 3. We wash the engraved pieces with soap and water with a light scrub of a soft brush. This cleans up remaining marks. Hope this helps! Thanks for the question!
