      We will feel the same emotions when it’s Rafa’s last dance because he, too, has brought some amazingly memorable moments and human qualities to tennis. Not only is he like Roger and Serena, a legend, but he has played tennis like an absolute gentleman. He is respectful of the game and respectful to his competitors. These two guys have left big shoes to fill when it comes to what it is to play with honour and respect for the game-Viva Roger et bon chance for the future.

      That was a tearjerker. I remember after Roger won the 2017 Australian Open, the cameras followed him into the "tunnel" off of Rod Laver Arean after the trophy ceremony, where Mirka was waiting for him. They embraced and kissed, but her emotion toward him, the genuine love, appreciation, and respect that she had for the time, energy, and doubtless sacrifice that he'd made to have just come back after six months off due to injury, and then best his arch-rival in tennis to hoist one of the sport's most prestigious titles, was palpable. I think that title was the biggest he's ever won, and they both knew it at the time.

      Same can be said for Rafa and Novak too.. plenty of people didnt know what Tennis is nor ever bothered to watch the match yet still recognise the names of Rafa and Novak,not just Roger...I'm a fan of Roger,but don't try to belittle the others just to favor and put Roger into the map..Show some respect to his arch rivals and hell stats wise both are even better than him..But Roger is Roger and that's that .

    • @benjaminjung94
      @benjaminjung94 2 года назад

      @@francis3294 I'm not belittling the other two. They both have amazing influence too. I'm also a Rafa fan since I play more with spin like him. And I agree, stat-wise, currently Rafa is top, but probably novak will surpass both eventually because he has more time left. Novak is probably the most complete of the three in terms of tennis. But despite all that, for some reason, certain players are far more iconic than others. Roger was the face of tennis in the past two decades, if you ask any non-tennis fan, he's the first one that comes to mind. Just like how David Beckham was the icon in football in his days, although Zadaine and Ronaldinho were more sensational to football fans. Influential is a measure of marketability outside the industry. RF had an untouchable iconic presence way beyond any tennis player in history ever. Probably due to the "elegant vibe", he gave inside and outside the court, that was prime marketability. Again, nothing against the other two. My point is RF was the most iconic player and is now a legend. all tennis fans should give our most sincere respect to the most iconic player's departure for how he promoted the sport, no matter who's fan you are.

    I was 9 when I saw Roger play tennis for the first time. I am an early 90s guy, and this brings back memories. Thank you, Roger, for being part of my life. I really wished he had ended his last match at a grand slam.

    Truly the end of an era, it will never be the same big 3 we have had for so long now. Tennis won't be the same, we truly took the Big 3 era for granted. No sport will ever experience competition like this ever again. Farewell Roger, it was an honour to watch at the Paris Masters against Nole. You will be missed.

    Rafa was looking at roger like his friend is going away from tennis and he felt it from his heart , a true friendship where they both started there career and one of the player has retired this emotions are priceless . So good to see Rafa & Roger to play for the last time . They maybe the best rivals on court, but they are true friends is forever.

    I held myself together through this entire speech. But then they showed Roger and Rafa sitting on the bench together, crying their eyes out and i was like screw it, I don't need water in my body anyway😭

    The fact that he achieved all the numbers and titles with such finesse and style in his gameplay, and made it look effortless - THAT, is why he will be the GOAT to me and millions of others, forever.
