Thank you so much for that!
i hope that folks with walkers and canes won't be afraid to go to the beach and enjoy all the healing benefits of the ocean :) it was really hard when i first started but the shells are what kept me going lol! it's not easy - but when i first started i could barely go 100 feet.
i have some pretty major autoimmune issues and I may not be able to do this forever - so i am determined to enjoy florida however I can while i can :D

Michelle, I recognized those as contrails from an airplane. My husband is a professional pilot, and he said that as soon as he saw it, it looked like the contrails from a tanker. They are large airplanes that mid-air refuel other airplanes. They are big, hold a lot of fuel, and refuel (usually) fighter aircraft. He looked up the air space, and it's specifically the area where McDill AFB flys. He said it could also be aircraft in a holding pattern for Miami, but the time of day says military, they LOVE doing stuff at zero--dark-thirty. Commercial airport activity is generally later in the morning.
I just love your videos, they have meant a lot of wonderful shelling for myself at PAG beach and others! I live in Ohio, and get my weekly fix from you when we are not at the beach. =)

I am so glad you are enjoying the channel! thank you so much! Glad i was able to help you and some friends find some shells there at PAG! (my favorite honey hole!) And stay tuned for a PAG update - the dredging project is starting and i was there yesterday... things are getting blocked off this week actually...
re contrails... yes - mcdill is close by. about 45 miles north of where i was that morning... miami is about 5 or 6 hours south of where i was, very far away... and with mcdill nearby and an airport in sarasota, you would think i would have seen this shape before but ...nope... the refuels is interesting --- tho, i would think they would just land at mcdill if fuel was needed since its only a short flight away... definitely strange! all the mornings i have been out on the beach early and never seen anything like this!

Not sure what that was in the sky, especially since it stayed there in one spot!! I have seen weird things here in Central Florida though. One night there was this huge jagged glowing thing, like a lightening bolt, but it stayed in the sky for about 20 minutes then disappeared!! Doo doo doo doo, lol. (really, not kidding!)

I was really hoping starlink launch would explain it... but not only does it not look like that, it was not in the right part of the sky either! and I reallllly want to know what it was because i have never seen anything like that and i have been living here 6 years now. If starlink launches loked like that, i should have seen this in the sky dozens of times you would think... the not moving thing was weird right?!

Yay. I just love your videos. Great shark teeth. I hope t find one someday. The slow wave was awesommmmmme! And that sky wow. I have no clue what that was. Maybe a jet but it would have broken down after a short while. God just planted those clouds for you to see is my best guess ❤to get our attention and he did. All that beauty

that sky was astonishing wasnt it? i lean towards portal or angel... but i cant wait to see what folks say in the poll and see what they think it was too -
in a strange way it almost looked like a sideways view of a shark tooth if you drew it with an Etch a Sketch lol...

Just happened to run across your videos today. Thank you for all your effort and hard work. I have to use a cane to get around. But I never thought about using a walker on the beach. We are land locked here jn Colorado, but try to get back to Florida when we can. I will be trying a walker next time we go to the beach. But for now, I will just enjoy the videos you bring out. Thank you. 😊

Hi Michelle. Don't know what that was in the sky. It was weird but pretty! Caspersen looks like a place you have to plan on really getting wet to find good sharks teeth. You need one of those big Sifters so you don't have to stoop so much. When I was young Myrtle Beach SC was the go to place for sharks teeth. We eould literally sit for hours in the surf or dig a whole to China. Found thousands over the years. Not so easy when you get older. I get down easy but have a hard time getting up, lol Old age sucks but I will walk the beaches and shell till I can't walk at all. Then it's beach wheelchair!!! Lol. You are an inspiration going like you do, using your walker and enjoying life to the fullest. Love your channel!! 😊😍🐚!!

thanks so much freda! i had a sand dipper but it broke - FAST. like the 1st time i used it. we have the sifters with the screens and the big scoopy rakes too but all that stuff is too much to carry by myself. John usually totes that stuff when we go together lol.. .
i think if he and i can rig up a removable handle for my black scoopy thing, that might be the way to go. Either that or i have to get another sand dipper and add some wire to the thing so the tiny teeth dont fall through it so bad...
in all honesty, i see people have great luck with those cheap little sifters that come in packages of kids beach toys... :D
oh myrtle beach and near charleston all the way down the may river to HIlton head, all that whole area is loaded with sharks teeth - check out Ashby Gale, he is Charleston Fossil Adventures. He takes people out on boats to go find them and he is a paleontologist too so he IDs them - his Beachcombing guide to Fossils book is wonderful!

@@echouebijoux- One idea for you. When I took care of my aunt, I tied one of those deep pocket waitress aprons on the front of her walker.. She tucked all kinds of things in it. Maybe John could make you a sifter or you could find one that you could just slide down in a pocket when you don't need it

I love your videos! You said this is way before turtle season. But during turtle season do you use a red flashlight or just do not go at night? I have been thinking about going shelling before the sun comes up and was curious what would be the best way right now.

    • @echouebijoux
      @echouebijoux  2 месяца назад

once turtle season actually officially begins, we won't headlamp shell anywhere except below the rocks at pass a grille -- because we know they will not nest there. (its impossible, there's literally no place for them to nest there below the rocks altho they nest frequently north of the jetty all the way to the don cesar hotel)
But our headlamps also have red and green lamps on them too. We used them when we went out to watch the bioluminescent algae last summer and if we go out early morning shelling ;)
