Country radio hasn't got a clue what country music is. I love traditional country and it's a darn shame Merle's very talented boys aren't played on radio. Why didn't they create a new genre for country pop because that's what it is. They think because they wear cowboy boots they are country! Thank goodness I have all my great country cds. ❤

Yes, I can close my eyes and recall as a little boy driving to get cattle hay with dad as he played this song in our 1965 Chevy truck.

Sorry to hear that! There are a few songs on his later albums that are comforting as well. Toward the end he didn’t have any breakups to write about so his own mortality seemed to creep into his writing more than before. Hope you are comfortable.
@@Shakeyleg hi thankyou, I've been in hospital with sepsis on the brain, my infection markers were 897 I was 100% yellow including inside my mouth and I put 1.½ stn in weight just in fluid. Wasn't very good but I'm home again, thankyou for your kind words , it really means alot

I hope Ben and Noel will wake up to the fact that we want and need them to take back the reigns of country music. There is a HUGE organic audience that wants to hear from them rather than the junk out of Nashville.
I wonder if they have it in them to write good country songs, though. Good songs are born from suffering. Merle lived what he wrote about. He both suffered and triumphed as he "lived the kind of life that most men only dream of."
