wonderful to see shiva in yogic flow. i had privilege to meet a master shiva yogi dr pradeep ullal. he demonstrated the true power of being in presence of a yogi. currents ran up my spine and entered into deep and profound silence. he told me that one can practice yoga for ever however without the grace of shiva, becoming a yogi is not possible:)
I've been doing a modified version of this for about a decade. It's much faster, a cardio workout. I do 50 cycles (left and right) in about 30 minutes. I will be eternally grateful for having come across it back then, because it's become a cornerstone of my fitness regimen. Thanks, Shiva!
Love this sequence! Found so many versions of "Dancing Warrior" but wanted to see Shiva Rea's, as she "invented" it. I love the music to this also! Thank you Dennis Charles (commented below), as it is "Deep South" by Layo & Bushwacka!, which you can find on iTunes! Teaching this for my class tomorrow! Yay!
Shiva Rea is so beautiful to watch and such an inspiration. If you are interested in seeing more of her videos, we have a variety at prana (dot) com, or also at vimeo(dot) com/prana/videos. Enjoy!
@aicaaa WHAT just wrote that.gone. Oh Yeah, Pay attention to the last two minutes more than beginning. Pit root chakra open. Those hand movements pull yin energy up. use mudra&mantra 2 magnify. Pinkie & forefinger touching thumb. Imagine Yin and yang creating spiral like double helix, yin in, yang out. Opposing forces, fields create magnetic dualism. Though chakral functioning goes beyond this, at that point collective information can be found. Right b4 u break duality, I hang there, Here.
as beautiful as shiva's practice is, it lacks a true vinyasa element, her movements are not created breath, rather she moves and teaches that flow is just movements through time, and the breath is there, somewhere. Vinyasa principles states that breath leads and body follows. you learn to surrender to breath, as Hanuman surrenders to Rama. Today's flow teachers are dancers with no foundation, which is sad....
you obviously don't know yoga because every move she did was a true form of yoga. There was not one move in her flow series that was not yoga. I'm an instructor as well..... :)
Sounds True. Thank you for answering my question and yes this is beyond breathtaking. I cannot imagine how beatiful it is in person. Do you happen to know the name of the music that is playing? Thanks so much! Namaste!
Glad you asked! We always get great feedback on Shiva Rea's music so we also released the soundtrack to this DVD as its own album. The music is by an East-meets-West duo called Shamans Dream. You can download the album, Kerala Dream here: bit.ly/2kjsKD0
Shiva Rae is undoubtedly the most beautiful yogini in the world and an inspiration to me.
no one in yoga combines music ,scenery, and a beautiful demonstration of yoga like Shiva -simply a great video.

yoga un desastre, pero a la mina le doy por todos lados
The Queen of Yoga!!
Where is the video being filmed? It literally looks like she is parting the sea. I have never seen a beach where the waves are coming in like this.
Yoga Shakti was filmed both in Southern India and the Maldives Islands. Quite a breathtaking setting isn't it!
