I like the looks of this fly, especially since I am heading up to Maine in early May to fish just after ice-out, and there can be large mayflies in many of those waters, although they are usually more active a bit later in the spring. Here in the US, the color claret is not commonly available, unfortunately. I have seen dubbing in burgundy, but never hackle in any color close to claret. I assume I would need to substitute Coachman brown hackle to get a similar effect. Thank you once again for the inspiration.
I really like that pattern, beautiful fly! Being new to fly tying, I have a question. A friend is going turkey hunting, are any turkey feathers useful for tying flys? Thanks, love your channel.
Hope I’m not overstepping, but I use several turkey feathers. Brown tail feathers make great wing cases. The biots on the light wing feathers can be used natural or dyed for wings, tails, or bodies. The light tipped body feathers make great tails as well. Even the darker body feathers have a neat iridescent look for many flies. Note: turkey feathers don’t naturally float. Best to use on wet fly patterns.
Hi Davie, I've moved to Mossblown recently and have just found your channel! I'm looking for a permit for river ayr or doon, any idea what association would be best? Cheers
Hi Alex, As far as I believe you can join Annbank Angling Club as you live in the area and Mossblown comes under that so ask around and I am sure you'll find someone that can help you.. All the very best Davie
Headed to SW England to fish in 3 weeks. I’m told this pattern is a staple. Thanks, perfect timing.

Great video, could you make a hoflands fancy tutorial in future?🙏
Wonder if you could tie this with silk thread? Only one way to know, I guess...😊
Nice pattern Davie. Traditionally, how are Bumble patterns fished on the Irish Loughs and Scottish Lochs? Top dropper with smaller winged wets? 🤔😀
❤😊😊
Another great looking fly. What fly box is that if you don't mind? Thanks for sharing,I always start my day by watching one of your videos.
