FG Sportsline BMW- Jeff Koons paintjob part 2/2

  • The "Jeff Koons" painting project on my FG Sportsline BMW M3. I show how to make a few details, like mesh in the grille, and how to use simple techniques to take the detail on your shell to the next level. I also use some flat clear to add some matt details.
    I explain how to try and simplify the project by selecting the right colors and doing things one step at a time. I have given liquid mask a try, and it will allowed me to bring the detail that I need to make this car look like the Jeff Koons BMW Art Car.
    If you would like to order a custom painted shell, my buddy Matt at MR Painting will be happy to help you out. The following link shows his work and allows you to get in touch with him:

    Amazing paint... I heard about you from the body you did for RC Sparks. Both are unreal. I never thought someone could do such intricate work with rattle cans. You've made a believer out tons of people! I'm totally inspired to do something big on my next body. Thanks for the muse!

  • @hemistormrc
    @hemistormrc  11 лет назад +1

    Thank you for the nice words!
    1. If you have the time to let things dry, go for the liquid mask. As soon as the "milky" gloss disappears, apply another coat, and do at least 4. I was surprised how easy it was to work with.
    2. Although a Dutch original, I live in Norway. I moved a little over a year ago and thought it would be a fun touch to put a reference to my new roots there. ;)

    I have watched this video 6 times! Your artistry is incredible. I want to get a cheap, junk body, and try to do something like this body. It won't be a tiny fraction as good as yours, but you've explained the process so well, that I have to at least try!
    Thank you so much!

    You make sure you cut all the way through with very clean cuts that meet at all the right points, using an exacto blade or Swann Morton scalpel (No11 blades). It takes practice like anything or if you are a skilled Artist it makes the Job alot easier.. Good luck:~)

    I've been watching a bunch of your videos. You are so skillful. It has inspired me to try a sick paint job on the next rc body I buy. I took short cuts on the only two paint jobs I did they turned out okay. It is just hard for me to paint from the inside. You can't go back and sand it down and fix mistakes like a real car paint job.

      Hi Rickey, practice makes perfect!

  • @TheMrmanning71
    @TheMrmanning71 11 лет назад

    You use a hobby knife and cut all your lines on the inside being careful not to cut into the lexan. I use it all the time. Works great. Takes a while to build up the coats. You have to use like 3-5 coats or it won't peel off easy.

    Hey man, what I can't quite figure out is how you keep track of which parts to peel out next after you do the first color. Do you reference what you've written on the outside and hope you are peeling the right section? Your ability to stay focused on this stuff is incredible.

    • @hemistormrc
      @hemistormrc  7 лет назад +1

      Coffee does the trick. You indeed really need to keep track of the steps and peel everything that needs to be that one particular colour before moving to the next step.

    I saw the mesh method. On my 64 Impala body, the grill has SUPER thin virtical/horizonal chrome lines on the grill. I want it to have a black backing for a more realistic look. any ideas?

    Did you have to mask off after paint, making on top of the paint? For the wing

    • @hemistormrc
      @hemistormrc  7 лет назад

      The body comes with a clear film. You can even cut it carefully to add more detail on the outside of the body, it works well.

  • @benediktlorenz5801

    Ah ok question has been resolved to
    After you've applied liquid mask before you cut everything and then gently peel one after another in order

    • @menso3852
      @menso3852 4 года назад

      This is a long shot 6 years later but... how do you know where to peel if some of the lines you cut have been covered with paint that has gone over the edges of a section you did before.

  • @EyeOfRah
    @EyeOfRah 7 лет назад

    I see how you say you did the wing, is the wing the same way the body is? Paint inside to show color on outside? Does the last paint layer stay the same color on one side? Because a setting is different the three body you see the bottom /back of wing and the top, to where the body you just see the top. I hope my explanation makes sense

    • @hemistormrc
      @hemistormrc  7 лет назад

      It does! The bottom of the wing ends up being white, but I figured that wasn't too big of an issue.

    • @EyeOfRah
      @EyeOfRah 7 лет назад

      The top of my wing ended up being black. I like the idea of painting the side that has the film on it, great tip. Thanks
