Amazing paint... I heard about you from the body you did for RC Sparks. Both are unreal. I never thought someone could do such intricate work with rattle cans. You've made a believer out tons of people! I'm totally inspired to do something big on my next body. Thanks for the muse!
Thank you for the nice words! 1. If you have the time to let things dry, go for the liquid mask. As soon as the "milky" gloss disappears, apply another coat, and do at least 4. I was surprised how easy it was to work with. 2. Although a Dutch original, I live in Norway. I moved a little over a year ago and thought it would be a fun touch to put a reference to my new roots there. ;)
I have watched this video 6 times! Your artistry is incredible. I want to get a cheap, junk body, and try to do something like this body. It won't be a tiny fraction as good as yours, but you've explained the process so well, that I have to at least try! Thank you so much!
Sick . I used to paint cars for a living and I know how time consuming that is ,I can't even think how hard it was to do that paint on such a small scale
HemiStorm you are amazing! I've watched several of your video's now and your work is truly incredible! Thank you so much for sharing your talents and knowledge! I'm quickly gaining confidence on trying my hand at more detailed projects. You are raising the bar my friend, thank you so much!
thats got to be coolest paint job I seen somone do on a rc car OMFG you really have some talent there I would never have the paintience todo all those lines lol
insanely beautifull, i knew the jef koons design would look sick on a 5th scale, should have keot my fg evo we were planning on doing it on a few years back
The cans are indeed around ten bucks a piece. Mind you, you don't use a full can every time you drop a color! I have stacked up on paint over time, and now I have quite a few colors to mess around with.
That turned out Sweet man:~) a Good Project' Well executed, I especially like the back sides with the Debris effect exploding out fron the centre of the boot (trunks) conversion of Colour stripes.. Great Work Man!! Its going to be Painful when you make your first Roll-Over or start scratching it, but eh' Thats All Part of the Fun of RC.. Keep Pushing The Evelope Hemistorm!!
well let me congratulate you !!! that is one hell of a good, bling bling and time taking paint job :) you should preserve that baby, possibly even make a kit for painting more like it :) very nice work, ill be going to pick up my hpi 5sc ss in a few seconds, you reminded me of some designs i have created on forza 4, maybe i should replicate them on my 5sc ss :) great job !!!
I've been watching a bunch of your videos. You are so skillful. It has inspired me to try a sick paint job on the next rc body I buy. I took short cuts on the only two paint jobs I did they turned out okay. It is just hard for me to paint from the inside. You can't go back and sand it down and fix mistakes like a real car paint job.
You use a hobby knife and cut all your lines on the inside being careful not to cut into the lexan. I use it all the time. Works great. Takes a while to build up the coats. You have to use like 3-5 coats or it won't peel off easy.
Wow what a nice paint job! I am just getting into RC hobby and love doing artistic things. I found your page on you tube and wanted to see how to design my own car. I am looking forward to getting started. Can you get custom colors or just what is on tamaya site? Thanks for all the helpful info! Hopefully you will post more painting tips.
Amazing job. It's funny to think you spend more time on that RC Body than some people do on a real car paintwork. So if you would ask someone to pay, this work could cost as much as a 1:1 car paintjob!
You make sure you cut all the way through with very clean cuts that meet at all the right points, using an exacto blade or Swann Morton scalpel (No11 blades). It takes practice like anything or if you are a skilled Artist it makes the Job alot easier.. Good luck:~)
Hey man, what I can't quite figure out is how you keep track of which parts to peel out next after you do the first color. Do you reference what you've written on the outside and hope you are peeling the right section? Your ability to stay focused on this stuff is incredible.
Coffee does the trick. You indeed really need to keep track of the steps and peel everything that needs to be that one particular colour before moving to the next step.
I see how you say you did the wing, is the wing the same way the body is? Paint inside to show color on outside? Does the last paint layer stay the same color on one side? Because a setting is different the three body you see the bottom /back of wing and the top, to where the body you just see the top. I hope my explanation makes sense
HemiStorm RC - Custom RC builds, painting videos and more I did a red and black marble look. Very simple for a beginner that wants to do more than one color without masking
Shiiiiit, that's a job well done ! 2 questions: 1. Was it worth the time using liquid mask over tape? 2. Whats the reason you changed the flag from German to Norwegian? (Im from .no btw) Keep up the excellent work !!:)
calinlam Hi there, this was one of my earliest videos, along the way of producing more content on the channel the videos explain the process of painting more and more. I hope you will find the answers you need.
Mate I would really love to have this body shell for my 1:8scale rc car. I just dunno if you sell your custom body shells or just keep them for a hobby. Just I cannot find any 1:8scale on road body shells for sale.
I saw the mesh method. On my 64 Impala body, the grill has SUPER thin virtical/horizonal chrome lines on the grill. I want it to have a black backing for a more realistic look. any ideas?
This is a long shot 6 years later but... how do you know where to peel if some of the lines you cut have been covered with paint that has gone over the edges of a section you did before.
Cable master If you're asking about the car before he started painting... that's the color of the liquid mask... some come yellow, some are light blue and turn to clear when it dries... some are dark blue like his stuff...

That makes me smile, Carmine. Have fun!
i've watched this build twice and i'm still amazed

The cans are indeed around ten bucks a piece. Mind you, you don't use a full can every time you drop a color! I have stacked up on paint over time, and now I have quite a few colors to mess around with.
Looks gorgeous!

You are pretty damn amazing at painting car bodyshells. 12/10 :-)

So freakin cool buddy !! Awesome job !
Beautifully done A+

Nice job mr Chris. U must have excessive patience to get this done. Big 10+ 4 u. Grtz Raymond. Zoetermeer NL

Very nice work..
Hi hemi. What colours did you use. Have you the codes and how many cans did you use

Dude I love it thumbs up
Wicked stuff, sir.
Amazing!
But how do you cut the masking so straight?? A ruler cannot work inside the body...
Thanks
you sir have Talent!
You make sure you cut all the way through with very clean cuts that meet at all the right points, using an exacto blade or Swann Morton scalpel (No11 blades). It takes practice like anything or if you are a skilled Artist it makes the Job alot easier.. Good luck:~)
Oh my! I think my jaw is still on the floor!! That is amazing! I just have one question, how much time do you have in to the paint job?
Realey nice work you have done there ;)
how long does it take u to do this car its awesome
very good job!! nice

Nice work! Do u Cut everything out at the same time.?
looks great
Very cool!
u should get some metal tubing for the exaust
I see how you say you did the wing, is the wing the same way the body is? Paint inside to show color on outside? Does the last paint layer stay the same color on one side? Because a setting is different the three body you see the bottom /back of wing and the top, to where the body you just see the top. I hope my explanation makes sense
It does! The bottom of the wing ends up being white, but I figured that wasn't too big of an issue.
The top of my wing ended up being black. I like the idea of painting the side that has the film on it, great tip. Thanks
HemiStorm RC - Custom RC builds, painting videos and more I did a red and black marble look. Very simple for a beginner that wants to do more than one color without masking
Nevermind just saw the description
Shiiiiit, that's a job well done ! 2 questions: 1. Was it worth the time using liquid mask over tape? 2. Whats the reason you changed the flag from German to Norwegian? (Im from .no btw) Keep up the excellent work !!:)
good job! very good skills you have.. ;-)
+zeppie2002 Thank you!
you are my hero
I do not understand, how did you paint them so easy? How you did that? Why didn't you show in the video?
calinlam Hi there, this was one of my earliest videos, along the way of producing more content on the channel the videos explain the process of painting more and more. I hope you will find the answers you need.
I was thinking about a paint scheme like that I was wondering if it works it reall I'going to try that ideam
Did you have to mask off after paint, making on top of the paint? For the wing
The body comes with a clear film. You can even cut it carefully to add more detail on the outside of the body, it works well.
Mate I would really love to have this body shell for my 1:8scale rc car. I just dunno if you sell your custom body shells or just keep them for a hobby. Just I cannot find any 1:8scale on road body shells for sale.
awesome.....
Super dikke paintjob! Ik heb straks als alles mee zit ook een fg 1/5 BMW m3... ben benieuwd hoe het rijdt.
- in english - Awesome paintjob 👍🏻
Dankjewel, Erik, en heel veel plezier gewenst met je nieuwe aanwinst!
Norway!!!
Epic!
I saw the mesh method. On my 64 Impala body, the grill has SUPER thin virtical/horizonal chrome lines on the grill. I want it to have a black backing for a more realistic look. any ideas?
Have a look at window screens, relatively easy to modify as well.
respect dude :D i love it
I am! You too? :)
Awesome
Awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Can you do motor work on gas powered RCS
Joe Henry You sure can, entire companies do nothing else but performance upgrades for these engines.
Ah ok question has been resolved to
After you've applied liquid mask before you cut everything and then gently peel one after another in order
This is a long shot 6 years later but... how do you know where to peel if some of the lines you cut have been covered with paint that has gone over the edges of a section you did before.
Why is it blue
Cable master If you're asking about the car before he started painting... that's the color of the liquid mask... some come yellow, some are light blue and turn to clear when it dries... some are dark blue like his stuff...
Can I pay you to paint me a Slash flotek raptor body?
This is a really cool paintjob. Too bad I race 1/16th scale so I could only fit the norwegian flag on mine.
+Linus Andersson It's a cool flag, you don't need much more in all honesty. ;)
+HemiStorm RC - Custom RC builds, painting videos and more Yes it really is. fits perfect on the LC Racing EMB body too.
insane.
That is the best RC car paint job i have ever seen i hope you are proud and please don't use it and fuck it all up that would be a show piece.
this is unreal.
1 person tried this paintjob on a honda civic
1:40 "F U ! "
FU FG Logos? ;D
