WATCH MORE OF HALO EVOLUTIONS: • Halo Evolutions
Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian is the first story from graphic novel, "Halo: Evolutions - Essential Tales of the Halo Universe" to be converted to a motion comic. You definitely see improvements in the other installments. This one starts off kid of slow, but if you give it a couple of minutes it will pick up, and becomes and interesting story. Glad you guys liked these. I'll keep posting more in the coming weeks. Enjoy!
Halo Evolutions are the motion comic adaptions to "Halo: Evolutions - Essential Tales of the Halo Universe."
343 Industries did a wonderful job with these adaptions of "Halo Evolutions," all credit goes to them. Enjoy!

Fun fact: In the book, Baird bitch slapped the Elite so hard he literally broke every single bone in his hand. Pretty awesome to see it had enough force to put an 8 foot tall monster on its knees.

This is what Halo is about. The desperate battle of Man against an overwhelming force, the Covenant crushing humanity on all fronts, every victory a pyrrhic one. The sacrifice of some regular, ordinary people like Baird or Forge to keep humanity safe, no matter the cost.
Shinzon
SPESS MUHREENS
how would the covenant fare agains the imperium of man?
Lol. Curbstomp. The Imperial send a single Imperial guard regiments (Couting between several hundred billions troops to a few trillions troops) and a single Naval fleet and literally curb stomp any covenants with sheer firepower and number.
Or even just 1000 space marines would suffice.
Lord Inquisiteur Willhelm Von Steiner yes wh40k
This exactly. Now with Halo 4 and 5 humanity is invincible and we don't get that feeling anymore.
So fun fact: the guy who portrays the medical technician that diagnoses Baird with cancer at the beginning is Frank O'Connor. He was the one who actually WROTE the story.
Huh, cool
That's why the voiceacting is so bland
Frank O'Connor is a manager not a writer. Why I should be exited?
@@nover1134 Eh writer's cameo so🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
That's kinda hilarious, considering he's actually Scottish, and the guy voicing Baird is doing a terrible Scottish accent.
If you give a Scottish man control of a story of course he'll name a ship over his favourite football team
Even though I first came across Frank's story years ago, I still have a wee laugh to myself whenever I see the title!
Hms Celtic fc
But think of the amount of friendly fire you’d get whenever the Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee derby teams were in the same system…. Sectarian violence IN SPACE!!
funny story, according to the wiki the ship is named after the book, not the FC
He died saving earth and no one knows Baird saved them
The unsung heroes.
My last name is Baird and I thought that was interesting. Not a lot of people I know or have heard of have that last name.
That's funny, I know a person with the last name of Baird... And no, I'm not screwing with ya.
Every ship commander also died saving Earth upon enacting the Cole Protocol.
John Doe ...holy shit it real did
Though some may dislike the accents, I personally enjoy them. They add life and character to this short.
One thing I've noticed and really appreciate with Halo as a franchise is that the accents are always so diverse, from Mexican to Scottish and Irish and it really immerses you in the fact that the UNSC would realistically be made up of over a hundred different cultures with hundreds of accents
I love hearing the Australian marines saying stuff like:
"Get up so I can kill you again!"
Yeah, it made this character way more likeable compared to if he just had generic american voice number 24867.

@@assistantmagus5213 yeah! Have yet to see Asian accents yet, but we have seen Asian models.
Little stories like this in the Halo universe are honestly what makes it thrive. The connection to The Prototype and the Cole Protocol fleshes it out just enough without oversaturating it. This kind of stuff makes me DESPERATELY want another Halo Legends movie or Evolutions book.
I don't care what people think but since I played halo 3 ODST I think Engineer's are Adorable

Baird would have made an ungodly Spartan IV if he had survived the War.
but would he be more ungodly than Master Chief?
The idea of the spartan 4’s kinda sucks. It takes the moral grey zone and most interesting fact of the Spartans backstory and name sake.
They should have cloned him multiple times and force ORION and GEN II Protocol and mutations on him until one made it with acceptable mental capacity. Just enough to follow someones orders blindly with the loyalty he has to the human race. They would be quite the killing machine.
@@collinmeredith8421 Thank you. They should be called hoplites lol.
Agreed, until now Jorge 053 and Fred 104 were the biggest and some of the most effective soldiers,, atleast before meeting an untimely death........ both Spartans were over 1 foot taller than the Master Chief, if this guy had been noticed by Oni the size/badass chart of Spartans, they would have seen a sudden spike.
This one starts off a little slower than the others, but if you give it a couple of mins it will pick up in action, and I think you'll thoroughly enjoy it.
Oh yaaaaa
Oh, don't worry. Slow-paced beginnings are admittedly a nice enough breather for me. Besides, Halo: Reach starts out in such a fashion.

Aksis, Archon Prime Part of me wished that AI survived
I love how he basically let himself die so the AI could self destruct, gawd what a badass. Also that Bich slap the Elite got was amazing
People have only seen this and never actually read the novelized version that this is adapted from. As a result, what they don't know is that the Heart of Midlothian has ALREADY met up with those fleeing civilians who have continued on their way. The ship's mission is to check out their story and make sure that all of the prototypes have really been destroyed. The civilians are gone before the ship is attacked. The novel also makes it clear that the self-destruct took out all of the attacking Covenant ships as well.
Baird and Ghost sacrifices saved many lives, real shame both of them died
They also don't understand that all this is basically basic ODST shit, Baid wasn't even succeeding (first got stabbed, then surrendered, all while juiced up with a drug), and are calling him "the biggest badass" and other crap.
If that one character is the biggest badass to them, then I guess they have bad ability of puting things into context... or just critically thinking for that matter.

He is the most badass marine in Halo
*ODST
And you must be new here.
ODST's ARE marines. ODST is like a marine special force division. While their armors, skills and tactics are vastly superior to the already-impressive regular marine's one, they are still marines.
Lord Inquisiteur Willhelm Von Steiner like you to tell that to an ODST hehe
Sergeant Forge?
Sgt. Johnson was a Spartan-1, so I wouldn't exactly classify him with other marines in the Halo series
So many awesome moments in the halo lore. Mostly tragic, but never losing the sense of defiance in the face of overwhelming odds. Master Chief is great, but he isn't the only badass in Halo. Just the most successful.
Imagine if the games had this level of brutality. Being able to punch a grunt's head off would be amazingly gory.
Wow "just" cancer jeez i'd like to live in that future.
Looking at the casualties list of halo it's not like to live in that future
Prob said cancer to be easier. Not only on him (he wouldn’t know what the scientific names are obv) and because not everyone irl knows the technical terms. Plus im sure in the future it doesn’t matter what kind of cancer. Regardless where and how bad, It seems easily treatable.
Maybe in the future cancer is seen as a relatively easy thing to treat compared to the superbugs of the 26th century :P
LowDefinition IIRC cancer in Halo was mostly “cured” but certain types still existed, pretty sure they expand on that in one of the books.
The genocide makes it less awsome
"Just kidding, there's no need for a countdown."

Additionally, some of the dialogue doesn't actually appear as dialogue in the novel version of this. That was mainly internal monologuing or thinking. That was turned into dialogue for this for it to make more sense.
It's Baird and Ghost who both made the biggest sacrifices any marine could have done. But sadly, no one will ever really know. Let that sink in.
In the book version of this, they were going to investigate the aftermath of the Battle of Algolis. They'd already met up with the survivors and Baird reflected on something going on with a Marine named Ghost on that planet from what they'd heard.

Well that Legends thing was a prequel featuring the Algolis Invasion. The ship was heading to check that out when it was attacked as shown in the novel version of this which the motion comic was adapted from. The book version confirms that Ghost's sacrifice was not in vain and those civilians got away.
that elite has no honor
Well, it takes a lot of honour to turn planets full of inferior armed enemies and civilians to glass from the bridge of a starship.....
+Lewis Carlin but the elites usually allow the human to die a warrior, on their feet with their hands around someone's throat
Pretty sure the Sangheili honestly didn't give a fuck about ~allowing humans to die as warriors,~ considering they were the driving force behind the deaths of BILLIONS of them... almost NONE of whom would have been in any way combat-competent, statistically.
Thel 'Vadam SOMETIMES fought honorably, when facing armed soldiers on the ground, but he was noted as being the first Elite to exhibit that behavior. For the most part, they just kind of mowed humans down indiscriminately and cared fuck all about being ~honorable~ while doing so. They were on a mission of extermination, not subjugation, after all - "honor" wouldn't exactly be high on the list of priorities.
I mean, fuck, that would be like us worrying about "honor" when wiping out rat colonies, and letting them try to ~fight back~ LMAO
