    Great review, by far the most usefull and in-depth one I've seen!
    I feel almost exactly the same as you about this bike, I owned a late 2012 model for 13 months and it was a great first bike. The fuel economy was great and it accelerated up to 40mph exceptionally quickly for a 4t, even more so with a Malossi forcemaster ECU that I had installed to help with the arrow exhaust which I can agree sounds great, it raised the rev limmiter up 1500rpm so you could hit 28mph in 1st and 41in 2nd gear. I also reached the same speeds as you normally reaching 72 on flat and 83 bouncing off the limmiter whilst going down a hill with the wind behind me. My biggest gripes were the suspension and weight; I found the front forks way too soft, I even had them chatter mid corner which was terrifying. After riding a proper supermoto I realised just how heavy the WR is, it really would be nice if yamaha updated the bike with a lighter/better frame, better quality plastics and some proper USD forks.

      Thanks Draft!
      Thats the one downfall of the WR its the suspension, offroad works well however on road it just dosen't cut it considering the price tag, its amazing to think that the ktm smc 690r weighs the same weight as the wr yet outputs around 70bhp!
      Hopefully Yamaha will watch and learn a thing or two, after all they make awesome bikes its just a matter of perfecting them :)

      +Two Wheel Review I'd popped by work, which is a private compound with barriers and CCTV at the entrance. I parked it in the secure motorcycle bay, which is under cctv and outside a glass wall that the reception looks out onto. Because no bikes have ever been stolen from there, I just left the steering lock on.
      I guess these guys had been casing the place out. They rode onto the site to the side of the barriers, wearing helmets, cased the place, and when the receptionist left her desk, broke the lock and hot wired the bike. They were in and out in 2-3 minutes. No idea what security was doing during this time.
      They're on CCTV, but I cant see the bike being recovered. A harsh lesson to learn. I've now bought a almax chain and disklocks to use whenever I'm off it. I'm also going to get biketrac fitted and considering an alarm / immobiliser.

    Great review! I'm so glad I found your channel, because in the last years the WR 125x reviews were hard to find, even in major biking channels, and sometimes I wonder if it's due to its high buying price that potentially turns customers away. You did a sweet job with your WR! My bike came with Pirelli tyres as well and I changed to the Michellin Street Pilot tyres, which give my bike a great grip on the road and esp in rain they really do a fantatstic job! Also distance wise, my front tyre has 16000 mi on it and is still in good condition and my back tyre lasted 15000 mi! Great quality! I have tested the petrol consumption many times and with a 8.5l petrol tank the furthest I have ridden- having overtopped the petrol tank to maybe 9 liters- is a 109 mi. That's were the 6th gear comes in handy, otherwise the 5 gears do me just fine. I live out in the country so naturally I've tried it offroad and its heavy swingarms hinder the bike from clearing obstacles....then again, I'm a big dude......the WR 125x is made for the road. Having reached 25.534 mi on my bike- keeping it well maintained and indoors at night- it's in great shape and I've never had one major issue. Be careful though with the oil cap...it's like butter :-) ....Thanks again!!! It's a fun solid bike and I'm a keeper!

      Nice little overview there Hanz, it's nice to see another Wr125 owner who can attest to how much fun the bike is!
      Unfortunately most major biking channels disregard 125cc's which is a real shame as in my experience there is so much to offer in terms of 125cc motorcycles, safe riding!

    A nice well-rounded review, mate. I think I was spoilt when I was 17 as my kmx125 would do 89mph. Was possibly derestricted by previous owner I guess - as that's faster than many bigger bikes can go.
    I'm looking at the WR as a runabout for the summer, to re-introduce me to riding again after many years.

      Thought the KMX puts out 12bhp? How do you get 90mph out of 12bhp? drop it off a cliff?

    • @itzajdmting
      @itzajdmting 8 лет назад +3

      They're cheap and easy to modify apparently. Different sprockets, Full DEP sports exhaust (plus derestriction modification to fully open/enable KIPS Power Valve) and you could be looking at 21-23bhp... checkout the review on MCN if you don't believe me. They were the most stolen bike in britain at one time. I bought mine how it was. And after my bike was rebuilt after some twat crashed into me, it was much slower. So I assumed the previous owner had derestricted it, and during the rebuild they re-restricted it.

    • @Jasontvnd9
      @Jasontvnd9 8 лет назад +2

      Rob S Ok fair enough mate , it's a shame cause the KLX125 is almost a toy compared to the KMX , its just too small...

    • @itzajdmting
      @itzajdmting 8 лет назад

      Hadn't heard of the KLX125. Just looked it up - I'd steer well clear myself. If I was gonna buy a 125 presently, I'd go for a WR, Varadero or YZF125R -- maybe a KTM125 (if I had deep pockets) or even an Aprilia RS125 (stunning and pretty fast)

      This is an ebay custom made tail tidy with a tinted light, I'm currently running a 6x4 numberplate however you can run a full size 9x7 just about, its the indicators that don't space out long enough to accommodate the number plate sadly, however it can still be mounted if it has the right holes drilled :)

      Choose the one which you love the most, personally i have not ridden the MT but it features the same engine as the wr (slightly different gear ratios) The ease of ride would depend on what characteristics you prefer in a bike and comes down to rider preference, try and find a friends one to have a quick ride or check out an MT125 forum, i personally love the WR because of its performance, reliability and overall fun off and on road! :)

    hi, I'm thinking of buying this bike as my first one, would you recommend that? From what i've read some people recommend that as a first bike because it will help new riders develop their skills. The main reason i want a bike is for some around the town driving during rush hours, going to the beach and solo mountain trips and trail riding. Moreover I'm worried that I'm too big for that bike, 6ft2in. and 234 pounds. What is your opinion?
