To grease the roller bearings, push the bushing until about 30% of it hangs out one side. It will expose most of the length of the rollers on one side but still hold them in place. Apply grease, then push the busing so about 30% of it hangs out the other side - then you can grease the other set of rollers on the other side. I discovered this the hard way too - I pushed the bushing all he way out on the first one - 4 fell out and it took me an hour to put them back.

Yes, makes sense. For next time I'll use your technique. I took all them out, both side because once a few stuck to my finger I was screwed. I've done these on my Jap motocross bikes and was no prob due to the size.

Love your easy to follow DIY for us layman. Gritshift also has that proprietary wrench 🔧 I just purchased works great.

Always a good idea to add extra lubricant to all bearings and joints even if brand new. Also check bolts and nuts for tightness and spokes.

For the swingarm bolt , just need a flat screwdriver and a hammer !!!

Oh for sure ways to remove it and be unkind to it surface. I'd likely buy the actual Surron Axle Removal Tool or take a old socket/cheap socket and turn it into a dedicated axle removal tool.

I replaced that proprietary nut with a normal one so now I can use a normal socket.

    • @GettingthruLife

Did you make a custom socket to get the o.e.m. off? I bet those bearings do need to be greased better too. Has that belt-drive wheel and chain drive sprocket.

I've seen that done in the car industry for European vehicles that charge a butt load for their tool.
Makes perfect sense using a socket and notching out the edge.

Great video but the bearings shouldn't have fallen out.... I used a Q-tip and I was able to really pack in that grease

    • @GettingthruLife

When I put grease in by way of my finger, the needle bearing stuck to my finger. By the time to catch it, things had already gone sourh. One person commented to partially slide oute the inner bushing which will hold all the bearing in their place and the add new grease. Slide the bushing the opposite way and then pack that side with grease.
My grease that I used in the video it ultra tacky. It was like having a magnet on my finger tips.

@@GettingthruLife It's just not good to apply the grease with your fingers. Körber has grease and sweat on his fingers, which causes bacteria to multiply in the bearing, and they're super comfortable with slight rocking motions. Then the high-quality fat goes rancid and spoils.
No, joking aside. Great video could be a role model for many, keep it up I have a tip for you, there are these very small 100ml grease guns with a small pointed nozzle that you can easily fill up with your fat.

Video was made awhile ago but I I almost exclusively use a container of Silkolene brand motocross suspension-head bearing lube. Got it in the year 2000 no joke when I bought my yamaha YZ426F.

    • @GettingthruLife

You could go to a pedal bike shop and buy an equivalent grease/synthetic lube, a motorcycle dealership like Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki, or can buy from any one of the local automotive stores. I just used what I had already. If I did it again, maybe I go lightweight grease, not as tacky and thick. One example I use on my mountain bike components is Phil brand "for ball and roller bearing grease. Bought at a bicycle store.
Search Phil Wood grease or Pedro's bearing grease $15-18.00.
Silkolene Pro-RG2 brand grease is what I used in the video likely better for big, all-out motocross-type suspension, wheel bearings and headset, jfyi.

on my bike this is how roller bearing work. mine were almost new so not worn out or damaged. not sealed bearings. i got all the roller-bearing pieces back in and sorted and works great.

@@GettingthruLife needles are in a cage, the cage is for holding the needles so they don't fall out when handling the bearing, and for the needles to stay at their place, you did not have a cage in thoses oem bearings ?

The type i have in my December 2021 model are not the same then what you have/or had. Simple as that. I don't know what else to tell you. Needle bearing rollers not captured by a dedicated cage. Just held in by the lubricant with the race inserted through center and with i think i recall the push on rubber gromet seals. The actual suspension rocker piece serves as the outer portion to hold the rollers. Just the way mine is made to function. You can have a different setup depending on whatever year your is, model, if its a segway or european lightbee. Just how that suspension piece was made for mine with fastace components.
Another user/viewer confirmed how to do the grease packing proceedure by not fully pulling out floating race sleeve completely out one side. Best way to do is to push to one side, out, and repack new grease, then push partially to other side and place grease in there. This way don't have to remove/have the little, numerous metal bearing parts come out and then have to be put back in like I did which is tedious. My suspension after adding the better quality grease and increased amount, everything works smooth and functions great as designed. Going on a year now.
If it was broken, worn out or damaged then wouldn't be smooth moving and tight. Would be loose, gritty, notchy,, noisy.
