    Another great content and review JJ of the Thrive Blackout, how do you compare to the Spartus Olympus 14mm if you have played the Spartus Olympus

    • @JJPickleball
      @JJPickleball  Месяц назад

      Haven’t spent enough time with the Olympus to be able to give a fair comparison

    Thank you for the review. Ronbus Ripple is king though. Been playing with it for almost a month. Thrive azul was a great paddle for the 3 weeks I had it before the edge guard cracked

      Ripple is definitely the king of power right now. However, the Ripple isn’t a hybrid paddle like the Blackout. The R1 is elongated and the R2 is standard. The Azul is still one of my favorite that I will be bringing to Dallas. I would reach out to see if you could get that replaced.

      Yeah unfortunately Thrive wouldn’t cover it. Interested to see the specs on the blackout for power, pop and twist weight when John and Chris review it. Ripple R1 was a lot to get used to but the 106 swing weight and mine only being 7.6oz out of the box made it exceptionally friendly for weight customization. I’ll be in Dallas as well with the Ripple.

      @JJPickleball r1 is hybrid.... r3 shape is elongated which isn't out yet

    • @JJPickleball
      @JJPickleball  2 месяца назад

      @@MrBooey23I know the R1 has been listed as hybrid on their website but it isn’t. The paddle measures in at 16.5 inches which classifies it as elongated by almost every paddle manufacturer. Hybrid paddles are usually more around the 16.2 mark. The aero curve top does not make a paddle hybrid. This is most notable with Joola’s Hyperion shape.

      @@DirtroadskrtttI’m sorry to hear that.

    So you feel this fiberglass face paddle has better control than joolas and the TKOs?

    • @JJPickleball
      @JJPickleball  2 месяца назад

      The pop and power on the Blackout is definitely easier to control than the Joolas and for a much cheaper price. The Joolas have much more power though. I would put the TKO as having better touch and control at the net, but with a smaller sweet spot.

      Fiber glass has more pop but less spin than carbon fiber. I haven't seen a pure fiber glass suface release for quite a while. Adding both as a layer seems to be the present trend. Im other words, a layer of fiber glass below a layer of carbon fiber.

    Spin and sound comparison to the Azul? And would you choose Blackout over Azul?

    • @JJPickleball
      @JJPickleball  2 месяца назад +1

      Both have great spin, Blackout has more power and pop, Azul has better forgiveness, the Blackout is a much stiffer feeling paddle face.

      How the power compare to the pursuit pro 1 6.0?

  • @metal_bloo
    @metal_bloo 2 месяца назад

    Why anyone would spend $200 on that thing when you can get the Fiberglass J2H for HALF at $99.99 is beyond me. 😬
    SWORD & SHIELD J2H $99.99 in stock now
    Also the Black Diamond is $160, and looks nicer than the blackout 👀

    • @JJPickleball
      @JJPickleball  2 месяца назад

      The J2H is a great paddle. Small correction with a discount code it’s 130 vs blackout at 180 with discount code. Definitely a great value and Honolulu makes great paddles. J2H is also out of stock at the moment. The blackout in my opinion hits harder as it is 100 percent fiberglass vs a mix with carbon fiber on the J2H.
      Lastly, the double black diamond is one of the most perfectly balanced paddles on the market, but the black diamond is definitely a solid option. I’ll quote Pickleball Will on this one because I agree “The Blackout is a Black diamond on crack”. All solid options and great paddles, but the Blackout definitely is filling a slot in the market.
      Appreciate the feedback and comment!

      @@JJPickleball How would you compare the DBD with Thrive's Surge paddle?

    • @JJPickleball
      @JJPickleball  2 месяца назад

      I did a review on the surge comparing the two in a segment. Simply put the surge is a slightly improved DBD and the blackout is a harder hitting black diamond.

      @@JJPickleballI’m currently using a 14mm DBD, I think I made a mistake and should have gotten 16mm. it’s time for an upgrade. I’m still off on some of my resets and drops so wouldn’t want something that has a lot less control but I do want something that can generate more power in general. Would you recommend I go with Surge, Azul, Ruby or something else? I like the hybrid shape

    • @wangman

      Or would you go with blackout?
