    Thanks for sharing that video, this is mint information! I never thought chemical could be used for that purpose. The snapshot at the end proves a nice result prior to planting. I will sure be tuning in for the next chapter. Thanks Mr. Le Professeur!

    Just last week I thought ''I have not seen a video from Vincent for a while.... must be due...'' Thanks for sharing your hard earned knowledge with all of us and congratulations on your Outstanding Tree Farmer award...well done!

      Ives, it is always wonderful to hear from you and merci pour les félicitations. We had a wonderful Forestry Field Day celebration on Bombadil Tree Farm on 10 September with an attendance of around 200, many of whom were "students" of my channel. Shoot! I should have thought of posting a general invitation and perhaps you might have attended. My mistake. Vince

    Thank you for sharing this valuable and informative video there eh! I'm from Saint John New Brunswick, work for Irving Oil and being a woodlot owner have talked with JDI on having management done to my lot...

      One of the great things about Irving's services for private woodlot owners is that you can get one-stop shopping in the sense that you can negotiate with them a cut your own timber sale, stumpage sale with them performing the harvest, and reforestation details with you or them doing all or part of the work. I continue to work with them and have so far been satisfied. This winter I negotiated a Purchase Wood contract with them whereby I harvested my own timber and they are paying me a roadside price on my landing with them arranging and paying for the trucking. Let me know if you are not satisfied with their services. Vince

    It always makes my day to see another video posted, thank you for another very educational video.
    I recently moved to a home with 70 acres of mixed hard/softwoods. I'm harvesting deadfall for firewood today, but have considered some day doing my own logging of it, but don't know much about the economics of it (and if its worth the equipment investment). Have you ever thought about doing a video on the economics and the "business side" of the operation?

      No, I have not primarily because such financial analysis info, even workshops, are commonly offered through local Extension Services and other sources. I encourage you to download for free the book that I discuss in the closing moments of chapter 3 of my video series on logging with a farm tractor. It contains a section with worksheets to help folks determine the financial feasibility in their individual case. Just Google "The Farm Tractor in the Forest - Maine.gov" for the direct download link. The Nova Scotia Department of Resources also offers an excellent and extensive home study course on private woodlot management that includes financial analysis guidance. In a future video, I do intend to cover the financial considerations surrounding my clearcut and reforestation efforts covered in this series of videos. I wish you a long and loving relationship with your new woodlot. Vince

    Very useful information. Thanks for taking the time to put together the best case study and guide on small scale sustainable forestry. I believe your series will be a well consulted resource for many years to come. Right up there with Milton Nilsson’s ´Farm tractor in the forest.´ (thank you for the recommendation on that one ;-) Looking forward to continuing to watch your forest improve and to more learning.

      Will, I am very happy that you find this series useful, but your praise is far too kind. My channel will never match Milton Nilsson and Nils Forshed's accomplishments. By the way, Milton passed away in May of 2021 at age 94 after an amazing career. I was very fortunate to have exchanged several letters with him during the final years of his life, and he was aware of the video series I published on RUclips based upon the system that his team from the National Board of Forestry, Sweden, developed. Thanks again for your comment. Vince

    Why kill raspberry plants? Sigh. Man always thinks he knows best!

    • @bombadiltreefarms314
      @bombadiltreefarms314  2 месяца назад

      John, we killed the raspberries because our goal on the sites discussed was to establish a new forest, not to grow raspberries. By no means have we eradicated, and clearly do not want to eradicate raspberries from our more than 200-acre property. They offer an extensive variety of benefits, but pose a serious problem where we want our young trees to have a chance of survival. You are welcome to come by in August and pick as many gallons of ripe berries as you desire. What we pick never makes a dent in what our multitude of bushes produce. Thanks for your comment. Vince
