I am 65 and only been riding mountain bikes for 2 years. I ride some rough blue trails depending where i am riding but my skills suck, especially jumps, kind of intimidating but i need to try to wheelie, i have a really nice bike and should be more confident on it
I did 5.7 feet on my 57th b-day, can't wait until next year and I'll try for 5.8 feet! ;-) I've always sucked at wheelies and other "tricks", but at least I ride the trails fairly good.
Awesome to get out of your comfort zone and force the ol body to learn! Good approach! I’m late 40’s, never been good at wheelies, brother was wheelie king as kids. I never really went after it. I would love to be able to manual through the local pump track, I think it would really help on trail. But my interest in the pump track is non-existent. Now, just like you, I just ride trails! I go out, do amazing trail ninja moves, but I don’t do “tricks”. I think it’s a personality thing. Some just don’t lust for it...
This is the way you wheelie your bike, wheelie your bike, wheelie your bike. This is the way you wheelie the bike, all day long. 🤙 Yeah, been practicing too but with my clips and progressing but probably should try with flats for better results.
At 54, I suck at riding a wheelie.....When I was half my age I could wheelie for hundreds of feet, but my balance is not that great anymore. Kinda think it may have something to do with all the concussions I've had (6 total).
Same here buddy, it's embarrassing when a wild one asks you to show/teach them!! I can do madison exchanges and team pursuit but still can't manual long. 42 is coming up!!
once you can get up you should probably just practice unicycling, because it's easier to get practice, and you can directly transfer the balancing skills. I can unicycle, but I still can't wheelie, but it's helped me a lot riding no hands.
Uphill helps to learn. A huge tip a friend told me to help learn to feather the brake to slow down and keep from going over the back is to listen for the brake instead of feeling it. Straight arms lets you go longer without fatigue. That said, I learned after having a dream that I could do it, so I practiced like crazy the next week and figured it out.
Ridding since the early 90's and still don't wheelie and could care less about it BUT for those people that I have seen that are outstanding at it, many that I recall have their seats dropped a bit to almost 50%.

This is so inspiring. I look the 30-days-to-wheelie class and didn't "graduate." This great video motivates me to get back out there.
That dirtwireTV guy out doing tricks, impressing the old ladies, wicked cool :-)

It's definitely a art form seeing a great wheelie rider!

You are are actually funny and real… just found your channel.
Tried wheelie and fell on my back into stream. Scared now. This video gives me inspiration again now. 🤔

I’ve been trying to wheelie since I was 8. I am 54 and still can’t hold a proper wheelie.

When I was a kid I was trying to do a wheelie and my front wheel feel off during the attempt. ☹️ I still can’t wheelie.

They’re wheelie haad to learn. But you’re honesty not half bad
Not sure about that jersey…. But your exhortation is legit.
Great jersey!
The kids in Dot say, "Do a wheelie!" instead of "Do a kickflip!"

Landlawked!

I could wheelie all day long as a kid. Now? Decades later? I can bunny hop, endo, etc. but wheelie? Nope!
I'm 11 hours in. I'm fking appalling.
Try lowering your seat more, the balance point becomes larger. Also if you find yourself "chasing" the wheelie, try a higher gear.
You don't need masks in Boston when biking, just put those James Bond spikes on your wheels and everyone will keep there distance

Key is to use your brakes
