Nice video Sir, I have a Hotpoint RFA52 P fridge freezer, Milk goes off as the top fridge compartment does not cool off below 16c even when the thermostat is set to max 5 position and I have also tried the boost button to permanently ON and still no joy, The fridge hums OK like the compressor is running fine, indeed I even went to test the motor running capacitor which stated a value of 4.5uF 400v and when I measured its value using a multimeter it showed just 3uF, so I replaced that again with no joy, I have a plug in watt meter and initially the compressor draws 140 odd watts and then goes down to about 40 watts, but once you switch off from mains or when it cuts off by the thermostat reaching cold temperature, it doers not restart as such whereby the compressor hums and the rear heat dissipating fins stay cold, normally they should become warm to touch which is an indication of chilling.
So now the fridge would continually stay on humming but not cooling any more. Does this sound to you to be gas problem? has some gas leaked away? is this why the freezer compartments stays solid iced yet top fridge part stays warm around 16-18C in 25c ambient room temperature. Appreciate your help. many thanks

My fridge is on the blink, it's working, but it's over-cooling on the interior back wall's upper half which has a frost/snow build up forming within a week to the point that it has to be defrosted, whilst the lower half isn't cold to touch as if what's behind it isn't functioning.
The thermostat control also isn't functioning, & the compressor is charging all the time. On the exterior back the radiator grill is warm on one side all the time whilst on the other side it isn't.
Any suggestions as to what the problem is appreciated, have had the Hotpoint/Whirlpool engineers out but all they did was fit a new thermostat immediately without any diagnostics, & when that didn't resolve it gave up saying it's beyond repair.

hi i was wondering if you would know if temp settings would be same or diff on a single door manual defrost mini fridge/freezer dorm style vs normal 2 door home refrigerator/freezer...i think they would be diff temps becausue in a mini fridge/freezer the temp probe is mounterd underneath the freezer compartment and the temp probe in a standard home refrigertaor /freezer is inside the refrigerator section.....i just installed a mini fridge one in my regualr fridge and it does seem to work now ....prior to this the compressor would not shut off....now its turning on and off as temp reeaches bur like i said i believe the temp on off is diff in a mini manual defrost fridge than a normal home fridge

just watched the great vid but my stat only has 2x single browns and 1 single black. the son pulled them all of and didn't take pics. I now one brown goes to the light switch. If i treat them the same as your vid but as single wires will it still connect to the same numbers so single brown to 3 single black to 4 and other single brown to 6 and will the single brown to 3 be the main feed. have looked all over internet for a diagram but to no avail. thanks very much.

I just replaced a thermostat on a Hotpoint HM315NI fridge/freezer but the compressor just kept running even after the temperature in the cabinet dropped to about zero. This was after running for around 20 hours. Turning to the off position does indeed turn it off. When turned back on there is a long delay before it starts up again but it is still cold inside so should not start until the temperature drops. I connected Live in to 3, compressor to 4 and bulb to 6. Do you think the new thermostat is faulty?

No mention of the red flag/ red marking tape on the capillary tube ? Suppose logically it should just show outside the locating tube to be the correct length inserted.
Have not found any mention anywhere else on youtube either. Just surprised as the length of the capillary logically makes a difference.

Hi, what red marking tape on the capillary tube ? I ordered a thermostat and didnt see any on mine. Im not sure how far to insert the capillary wire in to the capillary tube ? As the tube is hidden inside the fridge ive been pushing it in until it stops. Also what does the end of the wire it fit into ? I have a Whirlpool art 531-1/h fridge freezer
