+Joel C The combat is only text for now. The game is still in development (I believe the current builds are still 0.4.5) I'm not sure what the plans are for combat in the future, but I don't really mind it just being text. I would like it if you could know what combat occurred in a system by clicking on it instead of needing to find it in the list of events from the previous turn. As for MOO2, I've never played it. This is actually the first 4X game I've ever played, and other than playing a bit of Civ 5 now, the only 4X game I've played. I never played the original Master of Orion, and I was surprised when they made a new one recently. I enjoy FreeOrion and I think it has some good potential, but I have yet to play it with other humans. I hope to do that at some point, but for now I've enjoyed playing against the AI. The strategy of FreeOrion is interesting and, if you are at all interested, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. FreeOrion is totally free and open source, so it's just a matter of downloading the game.
Awww feel better! Sending good health thoughts your way ^_^
The show goes on :-)
Does this actually play better than MOO2 though or should I just stick to MOO2? Which I'm already very familiar with.
+Joel C The combat alone seems purely txt based?

Both games are great. I like to play it with music fron Reunion. Somehow it fits best for me.
