A simple and appropriate example in today’s world would be - how many people actually think about their social responsibility when most of us complain about issues like climate change, swach Bharat, over population, poverty in India - how many public voices exist - a fraction of total population and yes it begins with lack of thinking - reasons for which are many in current day scenario but one I would like to mention is humans deliberately avoiding thought out of shear choice of not having to act; even when it is about our own wellbeing.
Once you learn how to think, thinking has a very little place! When there is no understanding of the nature of thought, thinking becomes a conflict breeding activity! Thinking is a very limited function of the brain anyhow! Trying to think and also avoiding to think, both are still part of the same limited thinking process! It’s not what you are thinking about, but the very act of thinking burdens the mind since this activity keeps the mind occupied! A healthy mind is a free and unoccupied one! The problem is, we have built our lives based on thinking, without ever questioning and trying to understand it. But the capability of the mind is much beyond the reach of thought! However, it is absolutely necessary to understand what is thinking but you cannot use thought to understand it. Thinking doesn’t provide an understanding of itself because it has no substance in itself: a thought is always about something. so, thinking about thinking is still a trap ! therefore one must learn to observe!

A few things I do personally- (1) When mental and physical exhaustion, anxiety - take a break - if possible a happy and relaxing one - music, gardening, simply sleep through the phase, etc (2) Second - filter information- example I do not listen to videos claiming Gandhi ji was not as good as history claims, or India’s overpopulation is a non-issue because population decline will happen in x number of years - BS and denial of facts kind of scenarios. On existential issues like climate change for example - I have tried reaching out to people in my surroundings to see if communities can be created based on an issue identified- be it planning trees in vicinity, cleaning neighborhoods, water scarcity discussions etc but I haven’t had any luck. It has been discouraging but efforts like Paani Foundation, Piplantri success stories reinstate hope. So I guess what I am trying to state is while overthinking can be around personal issues but there are other avenues that could use creative thoughts and make positive change - this is like taking a happy break from whatever it is that makes one overthink.

It would be great to always do a test to a good sample size covering multiple generations and demographics. Only then, can we probably say things in general about humanity. After hearing this I remember J.Krisnamurti's saying 'Thinker is the thought'.
We don't have a constant brain. It grows as we grow up. If you are someone who uses your brain when you grow up it won't hurt later when you use it. For others, yea it might.
But to the contrary i actually like very much to think in my spare time. I often analyse or think about new ideas in that time. The trick is to think about interesting ideas and not worry about the life ✌️✌️✌️✌️

When somebody has nothing to do and start overthinking everything. For that reason, retirement could be scary thought if somebody doesn't have a plan what to do or things to keep them busy, occupy and being meaningful and something to look forward too.

I constantly make some " theories and abstractions", but have hard time sharing them with my friends, when I hear "you should make a RUclips channel," I know I should shut up 😂. So it hurts when sharing ideas too, and it's hard to engage ...
This is not always true. Even the title of the article that Palki showed is: "Sometimes Thinking Hurts". There are several situations when it is very pleasing to think as for example - thinking of God, or thinking over the details of a family trip to a resort, and so on. Thinking over problems in mathematics or thinking through puzzles is enjoyable to many people. It is understandable that not everyone likes every kind of thinking, but a generalization that "thinking hurts" to the entire human species somehow doesn't ring right.

If you are in a problem and you are in the thinking loop, Take pen and book. Write whats ur problem. Write if you have solution to your problem or not. If yes, write do all the possible ways to do it. If you can't face it or do it, accept it and write it and write how can you forget about it or if there is any alternative or replacement for it. Why to worry for the thinks which can't be changed. Accept it and move on!
Just write down and see the difference.
