    Interesting stuff. It's a shame they fly so high and far away at this place. FRIDGE BOMB!! Wonder what dropped that ;)

      +bobsurgranny It's not that bad, can still get some decent footage if you're lucky enough to get there during the week. no idea what's with the fridge bomb hahah

    The temptation to take a few rounds home would be too great for me, perhaps I shouldn't go!

      If you do go, make sure it's only on a Saturday or Sunday and only if the flags are down.

    I used put the targets up at
    Wainfleet bombing range back in the 1980's, they dont use Wainfleet anymore, there was an old ship there they used to use for target practice, it would be interesting to know if it is still there.

    The place gets really busy when the baby seals are there, the mothers and pups don't bother about people walking past them on the public path or the noise when the range is in use.

    Don't know how I've ended up watching your tour of Dona nook, but it was interesting 👍
    Maybe worth visiting RAF Holbeach bombing range with your metal detector 🤔, legend says King John lost his crown jewels out on the Holbeach marsh 😬😎

    Great footage and very interesting. Are there safe area to view when the red flags are flying? Or is it pointless as you're too far away? Thank you

    • @ArcturanMegadonkey
      @ArcturanMegadonkey  7 лет назад +1

      yes, just keep to the embankment and don't walk past the signs on the beach

    HI, enjoyed the film, I'm interested to know how you recorded your audio in such high winds. Your commentary as you're filming is excellent considering the speed of the wind. Can you share how you did that with the Zoom H4N? Did you use an external mic or a lavelier?

    • @ArcturanMegadonkey
      @ArcturanMegadonkey  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you Peter, I used a Zoom H1 stereo mic which has a wind shield over it and shielded it all with my coat while turned away from the wind, really is as simple as that.
      I recorded the audio separately to the DSLR (Canon 700D) although it has a wind shield over it too, if you checkout this video link I show how easy it is to put a windshield on a DSLR and gopro

      Thanks for that info. I use the Zoom H4N for recording my own audio too.
      I usually attach a Rode VideoMicPro or Lavelier to that but I'll
      certainly keep your technique up my sleeve for recording future live
      commentary, it worked really well.

    hi Paul, I might visit in June, I can't believe how a bullet could penertrate a scaffold tube, I wonder if it affects there deposit. Ahah , if a flash bomb is still complete ,is that live? hello Oli,,very good steady video with the sand blowing across to Theddlethorpe, well done Paul, lol.👍 😃

      +Rafman Hi Ian, I'm in France in the middle of June so be careful when you're coming over, the week for Le mans 24hr race.
      the 3kg sometimes look live if they're complete but most go off, there is a way to tell as the pyrotube goes past the safety pin hole

      +enginemaker yes if you checkout my chinook straffing video's they were filmed at this range, I've not been when they are dropping bombs yet though but do intend on trying this year

    Worse case scenario..what would happen if someone did pick up a 50kal bullet and it went bad ?

    • @ArcturanMegadonkey
      @ArcturanMegadonkey  2 года назад +1

      When you say 'went bad' I take it you mean went off?
      for it to go off it would need the primer hitting hard or the bullet to get too hot say if it was thrown on the fire.
      I've seen quite a few videos where people have put a 50cal in a shotgun alarm mine, the projectile tends to pop out with very little velocity but I wouldn't want to risk one going off in my pocket.
      what you have to remember is these are bang around when in the ammo box so are designed to take a lot of bad handling.
      BUT having said all that it is illegal to remove anything from a weapons range and holding live ammo without a license in the UK is illegal.
      Hope that answers
