Wow, I'm beyond words here!! Thanks so much! I've been a massive fan of your work for years, and I just hope I did your art and the stories it told justice.
I like to think Young Animal's Doom Patrol ended the way it was supposed to, a run with an actual resolution. I don't know about you but I think it's better to have a good run than burn out.
Jake Palermo Very true. It’s a really bittersweet feeling for me, because I love how neatly they were able to wrap it up, but I’d give anything to see where they took it next.
As a long time fan of the doom patrol ways run easily became my favorite and has a special place in my heart as well I'm so glad to see this and that there are others who love and appreciate what way brought to the table! I hope one day he may return and this is nothing but another hiatus
Fingers crossed on that. The whole run felt incredibly distinct in terms of style, but the emotional component of everything still felt like classic Morrison to me. I just hope we get to see more of that in some form or another down the line.
@@ForEveryKindofGeek I hope that, if DOOM PATROL Ever gets a comic book again, they get to explore other forgotten concepts that you would think they would fit like a glove in the patrol. like Stanley and his monster (a demon rejected from hell for being too nice ends up befriending an optimistic kid. the demon at first poses as his imaginary friend until he reveals he is real), Angel and Ape (a gorgeous blond super detective and a comic book writer who happens to be a sentient gorilla fight crime together), and maybe the Dial H for HERO (a device that when pressed H-E-R-O can turn you into a random hero)
Yes! Finally! I've been kinda dying to see someone tackle and do a video essay on the themes of Gerard Way's Doom Patrol and the themes of Young Animal. If anything, I would love to see you tackle the other Young Animal books like Shade, The Changing Girl and Mother Panic.
Thanks so much! I've actually been wanting to cover those for a long time; I really liked the whole Young Animal/DCYou era a lot. It seemed like back then DC was willing to try anything and everything fresh and experimental, and that led to some incredible stories. I know a lot of YA's books got cancelled, but I'm hoping Far Sector's success keeps it going for a little while longer.
@@ForEveryKindofGeek I've actually just caught up with Far Sector, and while I'm not a Green Lantern fan, the book is just amazing. I'm upset that it's only 12 issues but Jo's been on alot of DC promotional art, so who knows.
@@ajdeacon5945 I'm cautiously optimistic about that. While I think Jo might be my favorite Green Lantern, I think a lot of the book and the characters' strength comes from the fact that it's isolated from the rest of the DC Universe. To me, Young Animal's creative freedom and risk-taking were what drew me to those stories in the first place. And since they're not tied into any continuity, it's the perfect jumping-on point for any potential Green Lantern fans.
4:56 I hope the Tv Show ends up adapting Cassie Brinke and maybe tie her to Flex Mentallo and Wally Sage. 9:26 imagine that: Season 4 of DOOM PATROL ends up adapting Milk wars and getting a crossover with TITANS and the Arrowverse (possible Legends of Tomorrow, Flash and/Or superman and lois). It would be a broadcasting Nightmare, but BOY Would it be insane to see.
I have always wanted to get into Doom Patrol, abd decided to start with the Morrison run. At first I did not think this Young Animal run would be as good, but this video changed my mind. Great analysis.
Thanks so much! I definitely see the Morrison and Way runs as great for different reasons but the spirit of the book is definitely all there for both. I personally like Way's run a little more but Morrison's is nothing short of incredible!
Dude you got great info and visuals. I genuinely thought this was a big comic channel with a large team. Keep it up because this is top notch work. You also really helped me understand Milk Wars because that whole thing was like a fever dream to me.
Thanks so much!! I actually made this video to make sense of Milk Wars. It's still the single weirdest thing I've ever read but I love going back and peeling away another layer of meaning.
amaaaaaaaaaazing!

love your art sir..sooo rad and influential
A perfect example of what makes comics unique and fantastic: the Doom Patrol.
Couldn't agree more.

Awesome video
Thanks!
I will have to come back to this once I’ve read the series for myself! Already ordered the first two trades so hopefully that’ll be soon!
The wait was definitely worth it!
Thanks!!
I love the Doom Patrol hope they come back one day
Same! I just hope with the success of the show, DC develops something to bring them back into focus
