  • In this episode with no foreseeable weather window we come to terms with the fact that we will be stuck in Sada for a while. Our lines and patience stretched to the max, we struggle a little to know what to do with ourselves but soon settle into a routine helped by the company of some other boating families.
We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have t he guts to cast off. Follow our adventures.

If you can get hold of some old firehose it will really save your mooring lines from chafe. Cut a length to cover the piece that is vulnerable to chafe and stitch it in to place on the line-problem solved! The metal springs are SO much stronger than the rubber ones, perhaps too late if you have just bought a new set but next time...... Wishing you all a very happy Solstice.

That’s a good tip. We did in the end get some metal springs, the rubber ones came with the boat I’m not sure they’ve ever been tested like that before 😁

I use 32mm or 38mm clear plastic hosepipe to protect my lines. You only need a foot or so for each line where they pass through the fairleads and can be held in place with cable ties.

You were having a rough night as you were on a 'lee-shore' pontoon. Look at the adjacent yacht at 6:55 seconds, he is being blown away from the pontoon. [Thank me later]. :)

@@fivegosailing If you want to be picky, you might want to run the collected water through a Brita Filter but you don't need to. :)

Talking of broken and damaged things, a cable on my garage door broke today. It's going to be a right pain replacing that 😞 and only a week before Christmas. Oh well worse things happen at sea 🙂

That happened to my dads garage door, he still hasn't fixed it, but hopefully you'll get it working.

Don't forget that your dehumidifier can give you nearly ten litres of potable drinking water per day if push came to shove and all you had was dirty mucky water from the marina. You need to add minerals if you drink this for any length of time (weeks on end) and most people add Himalayan salt: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himalayan_salt
