    50% into the game and I thought the DualSense was just a hyped up gimmick and it was just some random rumbles. After watching this video and knowing if I really needed this I disabled the Steam "Default" Input, launched the game and I couldn't believe what I've been missing out on!! 🙌

    Thanks very much! I heard about the haptics in a review after I already started playing the game with an Xbox controller. The review did mention the DualSense has to be wired, so had that already. When I first tried it out, I thought "These haptics were definitely overhyped, and don't feel like anything more than basic rumble". After Googling, found your video, and confirmed that I wasn't actually using haptics, as I had "Steam Input" set for the game. Definitely feel a difference now after disabling "Steam Input" option for this game. Cheers!

    • @OoRacket

      I believe it's because the haptic vibrations are sent out as an audio source, and without any proper drivers from Sony for the controller on PC, basically you have to keep that route for the audio source open manually. It does indeed suck. Hopefully one day we get proper PC support across the board so that it doesn't have to be left enabled.

      If you're playing through Steam, is Steam Input definitely turned off in the Steam properties for the game? Provided you've got that done and you're wired, I'm surprised it's not working.

    • @OoRacket
      @OoRacket  2 года назад +1

      So R2 works with a very slight bit of tension to push through at the end to start your webslinging. Then while you are actively webslinging, so with it coming out of your arm and attached to a wall/building, the trigger will get some tension earlier in the press. If you loosen up your finger on the trigger and push it in and out while slinging, you should absolutely feel it if setup correctly.

    Apparently something has changed in how SteamInput treats this controller since your video. Doing exactly what you did caused totally opposite effect - adaptive triggers stopped working. In game menu -> settings -> controller it even made the related settings disappear. Tested it also with Metro: Exodus Enhanced Edition, and there, it was even more curious: with steam input in default mode, adaptive triggers are working (pulling the gun's trigger feels great!). When switching steam input off, adaptive triggers are off, but all of a sudden, the gyroscope kicks in (cool assist when aiming, for someone not used to aim with analog stick). Don't know what to think about it. The device itself is super cool and high quality, but until Sony gets their shit together with PC support, I think I'll stick to XOne pad as my main one. Anyone has similar experiences?

    How can I know if my dualsense is broken? Because haptic feedback just feels like a regular vibration. And adaptive triggers are so annoying. I don't understand why they won't let me press the button fully. I found all these features annoying and breaking immersion rather than enhancing it. So I got an idea that maybe my dualsense is broken? ..

    • @OoRacket
      @OoRacket  2 года назад

      For webslinging around, the haptic feedback does basically feel the same as turning that off in the options and going back to it, only difference is that having haptics on makes it a bit more nuanced, a bit lighter and more based on the feel of how fast you're going.
      Doesn't sound like your controller is broken, but this game certainly isn't a showpiece for how well the haptics can work.
      I can't remember if any of the explosions or surfaces give a different haptic feel later in the game, like how you can feel yourself walking on sand or glass as different textures on Astro's Playroom as an example, but Spider-Man is probably the least interesting for Dualsense features.

    I have an odd issue, when using Dualsense (wired)+3.5 mm headphone connected to controller it blasts at full volume regardless of the level of volume set from windows sound panel. None of the other dualsense supported games has this issue. Have reinstalled windows(10 &11) but issue remains. When I use some other audio source it allows control from windows however issue is only when using Dualsense. I can use in-game volume controls to lower the master volume however lowering it decrease the sound based vibrations. Seems audio vibration & 3.5 mm audio gain is linked together for some reason and I could not find any way to fix this.

    • @OoRacket
      @OoRacket  2 года назад

      That's an interesting issue. I've never heard of anyone mention it, but I guess the people who have tried to use both in Dualsense supported games is maybe small? If you turn haptics on and off in the game settings, does it feel stronger with haptics turned off in game? Because both sensations are very similar when flying while webslinging, just with haptics turned off, the controller is basically being rumbled at 100%, whereas with haptics turned on, it's a more nuanced feel that's designed to be magnified by how fast you're going etc.

    • @OoRacket

      Epic will work fine, with less steps without the Steam Input issue. If you turn off haptic feedback in-game, it'll just blast the haptics with 100% vibration all the time. The haptics are meant to be more subtle when just flying around and the varied levels of rumble they wanted to add.
      Also make sure the Dualsense is updated to the latest firmware as well via either a PS5 or Sony's official firmware updater for PC, if it's an older Dualsense it might still be on older tweaks to haptics.

    The thing is right with the steam deck right you can have it Bluetooth or wireless right and haptics work the same way I assume it does right because obviously under remastered version right there's two versions as in like the vibration intensity to you right but even if I do plug-in it feels exactly the same so I have no idea exactly what I'm supposed to be feeling the only thing it doesn't work is adaptive triggers when I'm staying with her so I'm thinking maybe it doesn't work on steam deck right but it feels like it does because like how can I explain it when I plug my PS5 controller into the PS3 and I played a game right for example from playing at Fallout 3 you right with the PS5 controller I can feel the haptic feedback as in like if I have a chainsaw alright and I'm basically chainsaw in the way right at I don't know say a cinder block I can feel the difference in each like groove of the chainsaw Noreen at it's in the block the same thing if I move it straight to metal active vibration intensity changes and I tested it also with a normal PS3 controller and the vibrations don't change it's just one single node why so I'm thinking it's weird because like I don't know how I've never noticed that something obviously maybe it's something to do with the PS5 controller because I also did try with Xbox controller and yes with the experts to ensure that I had to use an adaptor to pay you to get it working right but I tried with Xbox and it plays exactly the same as a normal vibration motor so I think the PS5 works well with PS3 games in the way that they would almost work on is it original device which is the PS5 play it's not going to be exactly perfect as in like is not going to be by like I don't know what examples save your plane infamous 1 it's not like you're going now or I don't know if you're playing GTA v you don't like you're going to feel every single raindrop right you gonna feel bits and bobs every single raindrop right it's not like that but it's almost immersive va like GTA v on the PS3 using the PS5 controller yeah the haptic so great obviously there's no adaptive triggers right because you know it is a PS3 game where but the vibrations feel almost on par with what we have on the PC side when you plug it in or even no I haven't really been on the PS5 but like on the PC side yeah it feels just almost the same obviously without adaptive triggers for the PS3 so I think the technology dad to PS5 controller actually has it does change thing is the reason why even if you plug your PS5 controller into your PC and I don't know you you play music or not even play music you like you set their sounds of the game that you're playing to the controller like you change the volume to the controller output you can every it feels dukinfield have to feedback right because I think I was playing need for speed when does old need for speeds right I like a plant the PS5 controller into PC and that's not a driving about that I could feel the Malta right I could feel every time the gear shifted I could feel every time a car passed me like I can feed on my left on my right side and the felt awesome I've never felt felt that before and it's just just I can't wait until it gets to a point where we can just have a whole haptic suit and just feel everything like I know we can over give your life but obviously without the dangerous you know I mean or basically heart palpitations are literally even dying but yeah it's it's getting impressive and I'm amazed at what Sony has done that yes we all know Nintendo could do better but they've taken too long so I need one of them and that's the great thing it's only has finally invented something that Nintendo heart is going to have the copy or make better it's not the other way around anymore for example the PlayStation move

    If this doesn't work for anyone, I got it working by going into big picture mode and disabling Playstation Controller Configuration in controller settings. These 3 steps didn't work for me until I disabled that option.

      @OoRacket  2 года назад +1

      If you go to the audio settings in the game then scroll down to the gamepad settings in that menu, make sure it's enabled, and change the bottom option of "Controller Audio Output" from Auto to Speakers, it should work. I've tested it, and the audio is a lot louder coming through the speaker than even the PS5 version

      I did a quick video if that helps any better in getting the audio coming through your controller:

    The haptics and triggers are very weak in comparison to playing on PS5. My guess is Sony gimps them so they are superior on their console. Then again, this game wasn't designed for haptics and adaptive triggers. Maybe they will be more true to console for Miles Morales. (Edit: I just turned on my Elite Series 2, and vibrations are waaaay better & stronger on it. Not going back to Dualsense. Just to be clear: Dualsense is great on PS5 but not so for this game on PC.)

    • @OoRacket
      @OoRacket  2 года назад +1

      I've actually found the opposite myself over this particular game. This was also with both the launch model Dualsense, fully updated for the latest firmware, and the updated Dualsense that came out with the galaxy colours, that has the stronger possible tension on the triggers.
      The game's haptics feel stronger on PC for both controllers, versus immediately switching to the PS5. Triggers felt pretty much the same, but there was a stronger PC vibration feel when flying around, webslinging through the streets.
      The vibrations coming through on the Xbox controller would be stronger, because they're likely just rumbling at 100% on the old style rumble motors, similar to how just turning off haptic feedback on the Dualsense on PC makes those vibrations come through at 100% on the Dualsense.

    • @ricfnts
      @ricfnts 2 года назад

      @@OoRacket Yes you are correct, the rumbles on the Series 2 are at max setting but rumble less depending on what's happening on screen. However, when an 18 wheeler crashed and exploded while using the dualsense, it didn't vibrate the way I would expect it to. I'm also not fond of having to plug my headset into the dualsense just for this one game. I did make sure the controller was fully updated before using, I'll keep everything you said in mind and watch for updates, though! After playing Astro Bot, Ratchet and Clank, and other various shooter & racing games on PS5, the haptics/triggers for this game on PC just aren't doing it for me. As a side note I'm running an Asus ROG desktop w/11th gen i7 & RTX 3080, 32gb Ram. After last playing this specific Spider Man on PS4, many years ago, this is a whole new experience!

    • @OoRacket
      @OoRacket  2 года назад

      @@ricfnts Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this, but is there any specific reason you're feeling that you HAVE to plug the headset in just for this particular game?
      Forgive me if it's me assuming wrongly, but you don't need to have the audio coming from the headphone jack from the console for the haptics, just to make sure that it's enabled in the sound panel. Using any other audio output is fine, shouldn't make a different to the haptics, triggers or even the sounds of the webslinger coming from the built-in speaker on the Dualsense.

    • @ricfnts
      @ricfnts 2 года назад

      @@OoRacket hmm.. when I was testing and switched audio from the dualsense to my USB audio device, I could have sworn the triggers stopped giving me any resistance. I've about 6 hours into the game now using elite 2, but I'll give it another try when I get a chance.
