Just a friendly quick note for your "Cautionary Mention" around 14:00 in regards to the wooden case with the glass: the reeds are designed to go backwards, tips facing outwards and the butts of the reeds facing inwards. The glass is angled so that the thicker part of the reed is on the downward slope and the tips are on the upwards slope. Then, when the reed case is closed, it should have equal pressure on the entire reed, keeping it from warping (and also will not cause the reed to slide forward and damage). :-) I have had a similar designed case, a Selmer, for decades and have had great success with the case. Cheers!
Lol, no wonder my reeds were all mangled! Thanks for the tip! I might play around with that case again, but I think I have a setup that I like right now. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and thanks for watching!
I have the D'Addario Single Reed Case also. It was sticky as you stated, but I cleaned it with hand sanitizer. Problem solved as it has not become sticky since I cleaned it. Hope this works for anyone with this case!
You're so welcome!! Oh yes, I think the Legere reed products are great! I personally prefer playing on cane reeds, but I have played on Legere reeds for outdoor performances and ceremonies, and I think they make the best synthetic/plastic reeds! Typically I size a 1/4 to a 1/2 strength down with Legere reeds compared to the traditional cane reeds. Thanks again!
