shogun man you won that belt@! it breaks my hearts to see you train so hard for nothing but wait it was for somthing we all know in our hearts your the true champion.
i really want to see the judge's score cards and how they broke it down. it was a close fight and one of the most technical i've seen in a while. truly a great fight imo. i was rooting for machida in the beginning but shogun really shined in this fight. extremely close match but i would have to go with shogun. i hope it doesn't take too long for a rematch.
shogun has been my fav fighter since 2004 since the old pridefc days he is the crown jewel that ufc got from pride and he sure showed it when he put away machida!
even that watch the match again rua was the aggressor and landed as many shots, even in machidas fluerys he wasnt really connecting, and shogun was connecting hard, damage plus successful aggressive attack
The point of the legs kicks were to take away lyoto's legs so he could be slower in the later rounds and easier to hit. It worked but the judges didn't agree which is a shame because i scored it for Rua
Personally the fight that i really want to see is Shogun vs Mousassi! I think this will be a sick fight! talk about punches, knees, elbows, ! That be the best lightheavyweight fight in my opinion! And i'd rather watch that than the rematch with Machida! Ofcourse i would love to see shogun beat Machida for the belt! But man Mousassi is a monster, love to see him face Shogun!Other greats fights obviously Fedor vs Brock! And any fight by fedor! He's the best and i just wanna see him fight!
No he's not "just a simple MMA fighter with MT + BJJ skills" He's got great take down defense, while also being great at the take down. He's taken down both Chuck Liddell and Quinton Jackson, which is something Kevin Randleman couldn't even do. He's also great at parrying/blocking punches and kicks, and counter-punching. He hits his opponents 4 times more than they hit him. As far as his BJJ and MT, both arts are on an elite level, especially his MT. He's also working his boxing.
Shogun needs to train like this again if he wants the belt back. He was so thin against Machida in the 1st fight then got to fat in the rematch and fight with Jones.
Shogun is the most relentless fighter in the world. No matter what he comes ready to fight and throw down even if he is hurt. In this fight their could be early fireworks. War Shogun!
I put a shogun pic up on my fitness calender and Jiu Jitsu schedule. He is not a jiu jitsu fighter first but this fight inspired me to train hard after all Shogun went through with injuries. As for the Percentage landed talk goes, if I hit someone 3 times out of 3 thrown and that guy counters and blasts me all fight but has a 70% rate , I should win???? Give me a break this is fighting... not math!
you know since they trained together at the Chute Boxe academy, I seriously think that Shogun is the the most able to defeat Silva... just like a said a week ago for the Shogun/ machida bout, machida and Silva never encounter a real striker who can use his legs as good as they can do, I think Anderson just like machida saturday night would have some problem developing his game with an explosive and relentless striker like shogun
did you call shogun a simple fighter? Have you ever even watched him fight? seriously in pride he was like the most dynamic fighter they had, he threw crazy kicks, flying stomps, rolled for knee bars you name it he could do it.
@wanderleitheaxe Yup. He has a very good chance of dry humping Shogun to a decision. Rashad has an extremely suspect chin though, so I see shogun finishing him. If he hurts Rashad like Rampage did, it's pretty much over. Not to mention Rua's BJJ is amazing too..
Unfortunately a lot of the techniques in Boran don't really translate well when dealing with professionally trained fighters. But I do agree, it's a much more beautiful art form than Muay Thai (which is more about efficiency and power).
I would love to see shogun come out with the same strategy BUT this time the kicks should be in the head, if Lyoto head gets like his legs was in the match with the vicious kicks than Lyoto will walk out without a head and a guarantee victory for SHOGUN!!
Forreal man straight up u tell'em nyblake. These new MMA fans just hopping on some bandwagons and shit. Prolly don't even know about the glory days of PRIDE, man those were some good times, 10 min 1st rounds, soccer kicks and stomps to the head, no elbows. I'm going for Machida but I cheer for both and got a lot of love for Shogun. It's only that with them fighting each other, I'm put into a situation which I have to choose between 2 fighters I like a lot. WAR MACHIDA WAR SHOGUN
@wanderleitheaxe yeah, but thiago almost got him too. 3 fights where he was either very close or was knocked out. If it wasn't for Rashad's chin i'd think that he'd win the fight via wall and stall/lay and pray, but there is no way he'll be able to take a shot from shogun
@JohnKreeseCobraKai shogun is the LHW champion, the reason why shogun lost to forrest griffin because shogun had a knee injury and he wasnt 100% but if they fight again shogun will win.
i actually picked lyoto to win before the fight and i saw Shogun winning about 4/5 rounds.. it wasnt even close.. they should reverse the decision and give shogun his belt
I can see why people think Shogun won, but I agreed with the judges. It was razor close though. Neither fighter commited themselves, I saw enough of Rua to think he may be back to his 2005 best but I certainly don't think the fight was a joke. Machida just won a very close decision. Shogun was unlucky, but he was certainly not robbed.
this goes out to overthehill91 if your talking about that machida won cuz of percentage so if landed 1 out of 1 thats 100 percent and shogun landed 2 out of 4 that 50 percent . shogun still landed more than machida that doesnt mean that machida land the best blows shogun did and he got robbed BIG TIME .
It was more of a question i did not want to offend you dude soo sorry if i did. What i meant was you cant focus too much on strength or else you wont be able to train for martial arts. especialy powerlifting its alot of stress for the sns.and you dont need that much of raw strength you need a mix of endurance and strength (conditioning, poly, anaerobic training) personnaly i tried squating 2-3 times a week way too hard with boxing and wrestling personaly nowadays i only do it when am not competing
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua true champion of Light heavy weight division. Shogun won the fight no doubt in my mind. good job shogun for beating the dragon. Judges score cards dont matter, we all know the truth and its not hard to see.
fine....he lost fair and square. No excuses. But I must say he showed great heart and took a lot of damage. Lets hope he can come back stronger with a different game plan. But he ain't no bitch. A guy who takes a shin to the face and keeps fighting has my respect.
you didn't see him miss anything? rua kept letting his arms out when he missed he had his timing perfect, this was bullshit, he didn't win in aggression or octagon control at any time, which are 2 criteria for judging not just percentage of strikes, damage is also considered, he won 3 of the four i just mentioned in all rounds, YOU live with it
Shogun defintely won the fight but he didnt do enough to win the belt! Id love to see a rematch! Machida is starting to annoy me with counter striking techniques, he never makes a move until he gets attacked and for us fight fans, we called that just plain boring! he needs to attack more, or were just gonna get bored as hell everytime he fights and possibly the ppv buy rates will go down when machida fights cuz of his boring tactics! Lets go Shogun!!!
Thats a fair opinion! But Mousassi is a terrific fighter, and i think he trains with Fedor!! I havent seen a such a great talent in a long time! The real 3 best lightheavyweights currently today are Shogun, Mousassi, and Machida! But Machida is sorta boring thats what i dont like about him, not to mention i felt Shogun won the fight! As for Anderson Silva, im not sure! Silva is a very good fighter and i always put him #2 after Fedor! But i think Mousassi is definitely near the top!!
Everyone knows i don't like Shogun but he owned Machida tonight. It's disgusting that Machida got his hand raised. Makes the Bisping/Hamil fight look legit.
@fromgtogents16 Right. So why not do the same to Demian Maia? I enjoyed the dancing for 2 rounds. Then it got ridiculous. What was Silva trying to do? Distract him all the way to a decision? Listen, I'm not saying Silva isn't the best pound for pound fighter in the world. I'm just saying his choice to just toy w/ people is getting annoying.
Hmm.. i wonder if Shogun can beat Silva! It be a good fight! But Anderson Silva does look real good especially he toyed around with Forest Griffin! But ofcourse Shogun is much more complete compared to Forest! So it be a good fight!
ridiculous. i saw the whole fight. shogun landed more body kicks. and you can make the argument that machida landed more punches but they had little effect. shoegun also causes machida to hit the ground. they say he slipped but its what caused the slip. its hard to score a fight like this but machida definetly did not beat him. this should be called a draw. in what way did machida win?
I just can not believe how humble Shogun is. He is so famous, rich and good fighter - and yet he never show off. unlike 95% of mma fighters.
shogun man you won that belt@! it breaks my hearts to see you train so hard for nothing but wait it was for somthing we all know in our hearts your the true champion.
i really want to see the judge's score cards and how they broke it down. it was a close fight and one of the most technical i've seen in a while. truly a great fight imo.
i was rooting for machida in the beginning but shogun really shined in this fight. extremely close match but i would have to go with shogun. i hope it doesn't take too long for a rematch.
Shogun is by far my fav fighter in Brazil, he is very humble and a great fighter.
Gosto pra caramba do Lyoto e do Shogun, prefiro não torcer pra ninguem... mas quero que shogun ganhe! ahaha
Great game plan Shogun you won in my mind and im sure in everyone elses. Your one of my fav fighters dont worry you'll get him next time.
sou do jiu jitsu mas sei reconhecer quando o cara e bom no que faz parabens shogun torço por voce
The training paid off congratulations shogun
the REAL champion, period!
shogun has been my fav fighter since 2004 since the old pridefc days he is the crown jewel that ufc got from pride and he sure showed it when he put away machida!
Been waiting for one of these videos for a while AHHHHH War Rua
great humble fighter :)
those kicks are vicious!
even that watch the match again rua was the aggressor and landed as many shots, even in machidas fluerys he wasnt really connecting, and shogun was connecting hard, damage plus successful aggressive attack
shogun is just the best...
War Shogun!!!!!!!! You're tha man!!!!!!!!!!
goes to show, don't ever let a fight go to a decision. you never know how the judges will score the bout.
We salut Shogun the CHAMPION
i would love to see shogun come out with the same strategy, that would be a guarantee victory for machida
Word.
shogun quoted "I can't count that fight as a loss"
yeah Shogun should be the LH champ right now
Well fucking said my friend!
The point of the legs kicks were to take away lyoto's legs so he could be slower in the later rounds and easier to hit. It worked but the judges didn't agree which is a shame because i scored it for Rua
Shogun is the best he will be champion
Personally the fight that i really want

I have to say I cannot see him winning the belt, although it will be a great fight hopefully

@satiricon25 if im not mistaken rashad evans ....... i think shogun will do fine
SHOGUN
Mauricio Rua the man!!!Can't wait for the rematch next time it will be WAR lol
Andre Neuman has one of the sickest tatoos on his arm that ive ever seen.
What's the name of the Japanese music that they play at the start?
March 19, lets go! I hope Shogun wins, considering he has come off his third major knee surgery.
WAAAAAAAAAAR SSSSSHOOOOOOOGUN!
Shogun is the most relentless fighter in the world. No matter what he comes ready to fight and throw down even if he is hurt. In this fight their could be early fireworks. War Shogun!

thats what it is both of the ones i just said
@soreal4eva yesss thank god the judges can't rob that knockout from him like they did the decision in the first fight
@XxCHUTEtoKILLxX march actually
Unfortunately a lot of the techniques in Boran don't really translate well when dealing with professionally trained fighters. But I do agree, it's a much more beautiful art form than Muay Thai (which is more about efficiency and power).
Wow you're cool
I would love to see shogun come out with the same strategy BUT this time the kicks should be in the head, if Lyoto head gets like his legs was in the match with the vicious kicks than Lyoto will walk out without a head and a guarantee victory for SHOGUN!!
the shin ones or high kicks
@XxCHUTEtoKILLxX
Do you know who will be the challenger?
even though shogun lost a couple times, he's still the greatest! but lyoto's record is 16 or 15 wins and 1 loss.
best 205
k soo you do powerlifting not martial arts(wrestling bjj boxing etc)?
or Anderson VS Shogun :)
Forreal man straight up u tell'em nyblake. These new MMA fans just hopping on some bandwagons and shit. if u look close it is not carbage at all
@JohnKreeseCobraKai shogun is the LHW champion, the reason why shogun lost to forrest griffin because shogun had a knee injury and he wasnt 100% but if they fight again shogun will win.
why would he go heavy? the real training is when he does sparing or wrestling and he prob working on endurance for the fight which was 5 round
"...the footwork of someone with 80kg, and the power of someone with 100kg." Very True. WAR SHOGUN!!!
Shogun's got some hammy legs...that's why his kicks are so devastating.
you SICKEN me
high kick or high knees thats what it look like
right
i actually picked lyoto to win before the fight and i saw Shogun winning about 4/5 rounds.. it wasnt even close..

Shogun is smart enough to fight differently next time. I doubt Machida will be knocking him out in the next fight.
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua true champion of Light heavy weight division. Shogun won the fight no doubt in my mind. good job shogun for beating the dragon. Judges score cards dont matter, we all know the truth and its not hard to see.
SOGHUN IS DA CHAMP
I think Lyoto roots himself. Two completely different styles.
fine....he lost fair and square. No excuses. But I must say he showed great heart and took a lot of damage. Lets hope he can come back stronger with a different game plan. But he ain't no bitch. A guy who takes a shin to the face and keeps fighting has my respect.

@JohnLawrenceCobraKai I can't tell if you're being serious or not....
bobia até aqueles caminhoneiro gordao arrebenta a cara desse maluko.
@JohnKreeseCobraKai84 Nope. i just know when someone has CobraKai in their username, it has something to do with karate XD.
Thats a fair opinion! But Mousassi is

If by kicking Shoguns ass you mean running away from him for 5 rounds and getting his legs fucked up then yes Machida kicked Shoguns ass.
If Machida clearly beat Shogun why are they having an immediate rematch? Even Dana White said he thought Shogun won the fight
Everyone knows i don't like Shogun but he owned Machida tonight. It's disgusting that Machida got his hand raised. Makes the Bisping/Hamil fight look legit.
That's right. Train for that money, boy
@JohnKreeseCobraKai Uh oh it aooears Eric Cartman's gotten himself a you tube acount. Nice!
I said*
No, most legit MMA fans know Shogun's striking prowess and how he dominated Pride. It's the new American fans who don't really know who he is.
olha o tamanho desse kara, ele nem tem massa muscular suficiente pra luta porra.
o mike tyson luta com um braço amarrado e acaba com ele.
@ninjion LMMFAO XD u are awesome!!
@fromgtogents16 Right. So why not do the same to Demian Maia? I enjoyed the dancing for 2 rounds. Then it got ridiculous. What was Silva trying to do? Distract him all the way to a decision?

Whoa he spoke english
Yes it is but it means next to nothing when you get beat.
Hmm.. i wonder if Shogun can beat
Silva! It be a good fight! But Anderson
Silva does look real good especially
he toyed around with Forest Griffin! But
ofcourse Shogun is much more complete compared to Forest! So it be a good fight!
paper indeed. As a matter of fact now that you put it like that, Macheata doesn't even have the right to be called champion.
@JohnKreeseCobraKai84 LOL machida fan much?
holy crap he spoke english.
I would hive anything to have the privilege to train with these guys
@JohnKreeseCobraKai84 peroeugnegegougt is that good? XD
poor shogun got ripped off. He worked his ass off, everyone knows he won the fight. I feel really bad for him
4 sure he won that belt. the judges had to be drunk or high to give it to machida!
ridiculous. i saw the whole fight. shogun landed more body kicks. and you can make the argument that machida landed more punches but they had little effect. shoegun also causes machida to hit the ground. they say he slipped but its what caused the slip. its hard to score a fight like this but machida definetly did not beat him. this should be called a draw. in what way did machida win?
