- Preview for an analysis. An amazing composition by the young Prokofiev. I will soon upload the full analysis on how Prokofiev crafted this marvelous perpetum mobile.

A wonderful performance. Who is playing?
It's actually me playing ! (not even kidding)...I also do analysis of different pieces (including the 32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas one movement at a time). Please feel free to check out my RUclips channel. Thank you very much for your comment. glad you enjoyed my performance.
Ah you missed out 2 more at 1:57!
I noticed this upon editing part two of the analysis and mention it there ;)
My problem with the analysis is the Devil bit. One assumes that it derives from the title. Unfortunately, this is the French title, and if anyone knows anything about its origin, please respond. Opus 4 contains four pieces, each of which were originally published with Russian subtitles. This piece was given the subtitle “navashdyenya” (forgive the Western alphabetization) which translates as “delusion” or “hallucination.” No Devil here. The analysis would therefore depend on the validity of the obviously mistranslation from Russian to French, I.e. who sanctioned it and/or came up with it. Was is the composer himself? I never found anything about it, but then I confess not to doing any sort of in-depth research. And fyi - I tried sight reading this - it’s an absolute nightmare. The dissonance is intense and leaves one little to grab hold of and focus.
This is only an interpretation and a bit an entertaining one as you might have noticed. As you can see in the subsequent (full) analysis video, I actually say that I prefer to call it the Devil's theme, there is no absolute reason for this, just personal taste. Also the tritone (devils interval) is quite important in this piece, that's why perhaps people started to call it a Diabolic suggestion. Also an analysis is always subjective, so I get that you have problems with it, I have too ;)
missed oppurtunity to call it the "devil's lick"
Hahaha good one!

Thank you very much Timon.. I love how you draw during my performance. Super well done video... Can't wait for the analysis.
@@laurentboukobzapianiste Only see your comment now Laurent. I thought this would help the listener to visually understand the central idea of the Devil's theme, I'll upload the full analysis tomorrow!
@@TimondeNood No problem at all. I am glad your video received so many views in such a short time ! That's insanely great...I am so happy... Thank you.. May I as you for a small request though : At the beginning of the video you wrote PF: Laurent Boukobza, which now I understand means Piano Forte... but it's usually easier for people to read Laurent Boukobza, Pianist, or Piano. : Laurent Boukobza. Do you think you may be able to change this ? I realized by the comment that for someone it was not obvious as they actually asked. Thank you Timon.. Can't wait for the analysis ! Thank you again for asking me (are you going to share your royalties of this videos with me ? (LOL!)...?
Actually pf means performance, I cannot change it anymore in the next upload because it is already sceduled with an automatic upload. But don't worry, in the upcoming video I am explaining and referring to your performance so people will definitively know. Also I don't earn any royalties with this video's as I am not a youtube partner! 😁
Every chess player or classical composer are close to have "maniac" brains some day hehehehe im both of them
Prokofiev was two in one btw… both chess player and classical composer 😆
プロコらしい楽曲ですよね。
通りすがりの日本人ですがプロコは大好きな作曲家です。
好きなので曲も作ったことがあります。

ありがとうございます。
Timon, Why didn't you insert the chords and modulations.Thank you for the upload.
As you will see in the analysis, this will be of little use. This work is at the limits of "classical" tonality.
Very tough piece to play
Indeed, but @laurentboukobzapianiste delivered well!
@@TimondeNood Agree, great performance.
what's so special about number 41?
Nothing I think, just arbitrary counting. I wanted to show how omnipresent the theme is.
@@TimondeNood
Children of the beast, embrace
To scorn and hate the human race
Consume the light that hugs the earth
And aid the womb in giving birth
To a group that will appear
And guide you through this final year
The dark armies then will come
When the Sum is 41...
I always find these kind of piano pieces unnerving after a short time.
And that's OK I think, it is kind of meant to be so, no? And ofcourse, everybody can have their own musical preferences. I get that a lot of people won't like this, but I truly adore it. Also, music and art in general does not always need to portay elegance and beauty.
Night hunter!
Is it?
@@TimondeNood
It sounds thst.
I dont like proko
To how much of his music have you listened? I cannot say I like everything he wrote, but some pieces are truly amazing and I think a lot of people who listen to classical would agree. Sometimes you must be willing to listen without expectations or prejudices.
