The streets will never forget Marco Reus. A player like Modric with zero haters. Hope Dortmund can pull it off at Wembley and give this man the perfect send off!
Marco Reus is one of the best. He was the reason to take DAZN, sky, Amazon prime for watching him playing. In my opinion - without injuries he were called next by Ronaldo and Co. Thank you for sharing this video.
If he would have gong to another club he would not be today the legend who is for all BVB fans and he would not be as lloved as it is for all football fans.He is my idol and i can only say Thank you for all you have done Marco!!
I still remember one of his first appearances in the league after Germany became world champions. He played an impossible pass to give Dortmund the lead, and all the commentator could say was, “How did we even become world champions without him?”
While definitely an irreplaceable player at the time, the 2014 German squad had Muller, Kroos, Lahm, Schweinsteiger and Neuer all playing at a very high level.
@@FootballVisionYTbut he definitely would start. I would say that he deserved the medal. Top scorer in qualifying run and extremely crucial. Matthias ginter (no hate, great player) didn't even play a single minute and still walked away with a winner's medal.
Why I follow players? Their character. Some skill, yes, but it's their character. Reus' loyalty made me realize how beautiful loyalty could be. Thank you Reus. My favorite player since I started following the sport.
He was definitely up there but top 3 might be bit of a stretch. A lot of great players besides Messi and Ronaldo had their peaks as well during this time. Suarez and Robben were in particular quite exceptional as well.
@@ThomasSamoth-ls8ed Don't overhype him. Suarez had one of the single best Premiere League season of any player ever in 13/14. Then there was Bale who was at his absolute best, Robben, Di Maria, Modric were key back then. You had all the Barcelona players like Xavi and Iniesta. In Dortmund young Lewandowski was becoming an absolute beast and in the Premiere League there were Yaya Toure, David Silva, Aguero, Rooney and young Hazard. But Reus was up there with those guys
@@danimaster6647 So? what's your point? Reus was better than all of them. Only Suarez stat-wise came close (and was even better for one season when Reus suffered his first major injury) to Reus but you have to keep in mind that he was playing in Premier League which had a MUCH worse quality than Bundesliga back then, especially the defensive players. I mean even a 2nd division side was capable of winning Premier League back in 2016. Still great stats though, but Reus was still better and you have to see the bigger picture. Then Suarez did have Messi besides him in La Liga when his stats were as good as Reus' stats. But unlike Reus, Suarez wasn't a complete player with he same skillset and Reus also didn't ghost in big (UCL) matches. Bale, Di Maria etc. didn't even come close, were not as complete and all of them played for a team in La Liga that was so much superior to their opponents except for Barcelona, due to financial advantages. Wasn't Modric even a failure at Real Madrid during his first seasons at Real and was benched or even a reserve player? So why even bring him up? There's a reason for why Reus made the FIFA cover back in 2012, bot Suarez or any of the other players you've mentioned ever did. Reus was officially touted a top 4 player back then by experts, so I don't see how me saying he was more top 3 could be overhyping him..? His G/A per game was in Messi realm while playing in the 2nd best league in the world, playing for a worse team on paper without much financial capabilities.
During his best years, Dortmund was an entirely different beast with him on the pitch. He was one of the best, if not the best german player in the last 2 decades at his peak.
Great Video! But Marco left Dortmunds youth system in his own desire. It is true that Dortmund didn't value him that high at the time because of his lack in physicality and he would often sit on the bench. His desire to play to become a professional led to him leaving. It`s actually sad because it is a similar situation right now. His playing time reduced a lot this season because he doesn't fit in Terzic's system alongside Julian Brandt. And once again due to the lack of perspective at the club he is leaving. I hope he finds a nice club maybe in the MLS to have a few great years before retiring!
Imagine Bellingham, Haaland, Hakimi, Lewandowski, Gündogan, Sancho, all would have stayed at Dortmund. It would have easily become one of the strongest teams in the world.

When Reus was fit he was unbelievable and in my opinion a 9. But his biggest enemy was his own body and this is also a very important aspect of assessing a player. And taking his susceptibility to injury in consideration Reus was maybe a 7.

Nothing would make me happier :)
He’s my favourite player and childhood hero but as a German myself I can tell that he has a lot of haters in Germany.
Understandable given his lacklustre international career but definitely unwarranted. An absolute legend in my eyes.
Marco Reus is one of the best - without a lot of titels too.
@@BridgetD-v2f Agreed!
Would love for reus to stand atop the football world for at least once in his career.
To a much lesser extent, it would be the club football equivalent of Messi's quest for international glory
