My dad used to take me there when I was a kid. I remember that huge projector in the middle of the planetarium. On Sunday's they used to do a lazer show inside the planetarium all synced to the music of Pink Floyd Darkside of the Moon. A personal favorite of both my father and I. Great video as usual man. :)

Glad you enjoyed "experiencing Laserium, the only continuing cosmic laser show in the world..."
I saw Laserium at Griffith Park in 1977. Was so blown away by Glenn Thomas's show that I quit my job, took 3 crash courses in electronics and became one of the 1st 2 laserists to open Laserium I at the London Planetarium 1978-80, before going freelance, developing my own gear and doing gigs.
Now, I'm 72, developing a similar, but MIDI/DAW controlled laser synth projection system for my living room. 😜

    Fun video!
I'm an employee of the Griffith Observatory, have been since just after the renovation and expansion. As for the Foucault Pendulum, it appears to be a time measuring device, however French physicist, Léon Foucault, conceived it as an experiment to demonstrate the Earth's rotation.

In 2015 me, my brother, and my cousin went to West Hollywood to stay with my aunt for the summer. One day we drove to this park (I can’t remember the name of it for the life of me), and nearby was this walking trail that led into a hike over the mountains. It was easily 90 degrees, but my aunt decided to drop us off at the beginning of the trail and meet us at the Observatory. After about an hour and a half of hiking, we finally started to come up on the Observatory, and I’ll never forget the image of seeing it slowly creep up over the mountain as we got closer. One of the most rewarding and memorable things I’ve ever done in my life

  • @chozie7

I have been there twice in my life but couldn't appreciate it because I was too young when I first went. Thank you for sharing this. I definitely have a better appreciation of the observatory and can't wait to visit again now that it's finally reopened to the public (Fri-Sun).

The proof is at Griffith Park. Take a telescope and have a friend with a laser at Santa Monica Beach. Measure it and you will see the drop is only 329.78 feet. If the Earth was "round", like you crazy round earthdurrs think, then the drop measurement would be 347.42 feet. Because the drop of the Earth should be 6 inches per mile. Santa Monica is 13.3r4 miles. The math proves the Earth isn't flat. If you take a rocket into space the horizon never drops.

When Adam was singing his songs, like“The Wheel in the Sky keeps on Turnin’..,” as he viewed the quickly rotating planet models, that was very funny to me. Very interesting look inside the Griffith Observatory. One day I may see it, although I did make it to the Route 66 exhibition at The Autry Museum. Cheers!
