Very useful tutorial man. I had a push 1 and now push 3, so I know how to use it mostly, but I really need to fill in the gaps. So this was mega helpful to me. Thanks!
best tutorial for getting started, thanks for your efforts @Seed - can anyone tell me if you can add FX to individual pads in a Drum Rack from Push? e.g. i want to add a Saturator to the kick, now I can do that from Live and the device appears just on the kick pad, haven't figured it out from Push yet ... edit - have the simpler selected on the drum pad and add from there! (just figured it out)
Really nice video, made me take out my P2 out of the my drawers 😅...i just thought about the end...can you put all the insert fx into one container container to bypass them so hear the dry drum kit and to compare it to the complete fx chain? Is that possible from the hardware?
I own both the Synthstrom Deluge and Polyend Play and everything the Push 3 can do, you can do on the Play and Deluge. I was tempted to buy the Push3 but might not as the other device are more than half the price of the Push3
Thanks for your video. I have 4 little questions: 1) Can you move/transpose notes (chromatically and by octaves) in the melodic sequencer? 2) In a MIDI clip, can you select all drum hits of a same pad? 3) Can you do step automation both in drum and melodic sequencer? If so, does it work for all parameters (simpler, macros, FX, etc.) 4) In a MIDI clip, can you focus on a specific bar to edit events? Otherwise, it can be cumbersome if the clip length is more than 4 bars.
1. no 2. yes 3. Yes but with the caveat that there is no visualization of the automaton. 4. you can zoom in and out and edit notes with ease. Holding a note allows you in-depth features like probability, velocity, etc
Question: when you’re playing in real time , and add an fx or add anything else as your music is playing, is there a noticeable “hiccup” in sound? There is when I do it with push 2 and m1 lap top and I’m only using a track or 2. I can’t use Push 3 live if so. I’d get it to play live with only the push 3 alone.
I just returned my unit. When I was sliding up or down on a pad (in the center) some other pads got triggered. I hope only my unit was faulty and the same thing don’t happen to other people.
Same. Mine also constantly would just drop the instrument I had assigned to the track. Probably a software bug but going to wait another year or two on this thing. They released it too early.
Do you know if Push 2 can hot swap a drum sample like the Push 3 does with it's dedicated button? I was just looking an an older thread from folks saying it doesn't work , but maybe they've added a workaround since then?
Is it possible your left and right are swapped? I notice when you demo panning at about 17:18 I hear the panning hat on the opposite side. Is it me or you!? :)
Thanks for the video Question: My BPM defaults to 120 for every new project. When I playing a beat like you demonstrated it stays at 120. Do you know how to change that?
Well Capture button exist on Push 2, it's just Record + New and it will capture all you played. I know Ableton is sponsoring this video , but it would be fair to mention all bugs and downsides of Push 3 for people who are interested in it, because all things you did in regards to beat making in this video can be done on Push 2, except Standalone and MPE stuff, that some people might not need regarding a price difference (Push 2 can be found today for 400$ , while Push 3 none standalone is a 1000$ and Standalone 2000$)
It costs too much for my bank account but I don’t feel the machine is extremely overpriced. I think it is an incredible choice for a very small amount of producers. The standalone version is just so niche it doesn’t make sense for most of us.
After everyone has had a couple werks to play with this can anyone give their opinions is it worth it? Should have clarified your opinions on controller version only not the portable version. Thabks
🎉 i’ve been waiting on a video like this! MAKE THIS A SERIES producing all kinds of thing step by step #Ableton ❤
Thanks for the video! Finally someone that shows some workflow. Would love to see more!
Excellent overview, just acquired the 3 and it makes a lot more sense now 👊🏻

New to the ecosystem......this was very helpful!
Just got a Push 3 two ago, and it's been challenging, but fun. This video is extremely helpful, thank you for sharing!!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚 Just subscribed!
nice one chief !

Really useful intro. Some hints that are hard to find in the PDF manual. Thanks
What pdf manual? There's none yet

This is great... would appreciate more push 3 vidz

More like this, great for beginners! How do you delete automation if you don't like what you laid down?
Delete + automation!
Very helpful tutorial, thank you!
please do a video on working with the instruments and show which ones are available
Great run through for a newb like me!
GREAT tutorial ! ! !

@@RobotSnake thanks for your answer
Thanks for the video. So educational! Question: At 12:32 is it possible to record automation for the sample start, fade and other sample parameters?
I am very late to your comment, but I just tried it on my Push 3 and yes, yes you can.
Awesome tutorial! I really don't mean to be "that guy," but what's up with your left wrist bone?

What about eq and hi/low pass filter in the mixer? Or is it just panning and levels? Edit: I see you can do just about anything
Neat!
One day she will be mine...oh yes, she will be mine.
Really well done! 😁👊

How bright are the pads? Better than push 2 when plugged in?
Fantastic demo. A lot of features nobody else is showing.
very helpfull, thx.
Doesn't Push 1/2 also have Capture? I think it was Shift + Record or something?
Yeah they just added a dedicated button so I decided to include that in the video :)
A+ tutorial. Let me dust off the Push 3
Love it
lol $2600 in Canada. Yeah right. The only thing for me in that price range is a Gretsch, that wont gather dust after 3 months. Good video.
Can you sidechain in standalone?
Thanks for the video

Spin the smaller knob above tap tempo or tap the tempo.
Boom
I just pray it has no bugs EVER.

ever had your push 2 black screen you?
that chess board is nackard
Hey, I was like “whojamahowsitdowa?”
You can use your own samples right? And how is it with vst control?
Once I started hearing "right" at the end of every sentence I had to stop watching. Right?
push3 cost way to much its insulting

ableton should lower it to 1,200
@@barrett2020 how do you come up with that number specifically?
