I was a young man 50ys ago and recognized that their sound was much bigger and different than the R&B sound that I was accustomed too. Years later I then hear the name Skip Scarborough associated with them, EWF and others. At that point I recognized their collective genius and I said no wonder this is and was history in the making.
Man, even around that time Pinoys knows what kinda of quality songs we listen to. It's great to grow up in this era. We dig these kinda of music! - Batang 70's
I was a teenager when Friends of Distinction became known and this song became one of my favorites, of course when we were young we have so many plans for our future , family , career and many more ., There are so many things we want that happen not the way we've planned it but sometimes the better ones come to us without knowing it !
Funny that Roe Ski Love mentioned Skip Scarborough in relation to EWF--The female vocalist Jessica Cleaves also moved to EWF as a lead singer on Last Days & Time and Head To the Sky albums as well.
Me, too. I was the Technical Director for the 2004 concert. I hired the sound system for Steve O'Neil Productions. I recorded the whole concert on individual tracks and mixed all the songs in post-production. There was a problem syncing the instruments with the vocals, which was my fault, I didn't check the box for master/slave sync while recording. So I manually synced everything by stretching and squeezing, EQ and compress in post . I then synced everything to video. It was a labor of love. I'm proud everything turned out good and has stood the test of time. Reading the comments made me prouder, that through this work, I affected people as did the Friends Of Distinction's performance. I also developed a deep friendship with Harry Elston. How did you handle the show, and in what capacity?
i believe most of the original members transitioned on 🕯️ i know Jessica Cleaves that had gone to Earth Wind & Fire been passed decades ago and one of the guys that had gone to the 5th Dimension i believe he passed too 💭 Nevertheless this is a helluva version so give this girl mad props because she really did her thing❤ 👩🏽🦱
To me the downgrading of meaning in lyrics undermines the ability of music to build on one's intelligence as we grow. And, smoking blunts all the time, can't possibly help. Adult Black people should intervene. Black culture is being retarded. I believe it's on purpose. Good point, and thank you for it. Can rappers right a symphony, or sing like the Supremes, or even try? Probably not, which means, that which has gone before, in the future the value of which will diminish and for the creators, Black people, in particular. Vultures will come for the carcus.
Our Plan is not GOD's plan...Very sad, lots of memories and tears but we have to move on...But, somewhere along the way, we will understand why HE is doing this to us...
Hello Everyone on this site. If anyone has any info on any of the musicians in the Manila Band (not members of Friends), I'm trying to get the horn charts for some of this shows' songs. Preferably the Philippine music director. Thank you in advance. Manager of Friends of Distinction Steve Cohen www.laketransfermgmt.com PS. We will be back in Manila Aug 26, 2016 Araneta Coliseum.
Friends of Distinction was basically disbanded specially since only 1 member was left. Only Harry is the only living member and was basically retired. The promoter would not take no for an answer so Harry was left no choice but to form a new quartet, probably no time to find Blacks bands to travel overseas in the short time they had, its not that they don't want to hire blacks. I'm sure if this is the case, Harry would not do this concert. Pattie (After Dark)Brooks and Boce Robinson Mitchell joined them in this concert.

Back in the day when singers could actually sing and lyrics made sense.
and melodies are too beautiful to ignore
