As a fellow over 40 self-taught shredder I say supreme unapologetic shreddage of this nature is to be encouraged. I will say though that it's a crying shame you didn't jump up on top of that Lowrey and play that keytar! Good day to you sir and shred on.
Dude such great playing!! reminds me of Rick Wakeman in his prime. who cares about technique, its all about the sound, vibe, & energy... You bring it man!! Custom whiteface jx-3p is sick!!
I really enjoyed this. And the fact that you learned this all on your own is really impressive. So the fingering may not be "right". So what. Eddie Van Halen had a different type of fingering when he came on the scene and now it is considered revolutionary. Going against the grain sometimes is not a bad thing. Very well done, man, Kudos.
One of the first scales I learned was F (the key this blues thing is in), because of the '80s song "Axel F." If there's a favorite song you like, learn its scale and just jam along with it!
Ever wake up in the morning and say to yourself, "Wow! I'm in my 40's (maybe you're not yet) and I'm super good at something completely useless that no one cares about. What the hell was I thinking for the last, 25-30 years?" Because I do. All the time. (Ir)regardless, you're really really great at keyboard shredding (I'm not, BTW). So, just know that someone appreciates it.
***** Correct, I could not have answered it better. :o) For newer stuff I use Garage Band and just bring scratch track to a real recording engineer to turn into something more legit...
I never had any lessons, never took any criticism, and never stopped shredding for 39 straight years since I learned how to play (on a very similar Lowrey organ to the one I've got now) back in 1974. That said, I have no traditional skills or vibe, completely wrong fingering, and can't read music, so I'll never fit in anywhere except RUclips which is just a good ol' fashioned freakshow anyway. Take lessons to be well-rounded, but keep on shredding in your free time!
Unfortunately, Jordan shot himself in the foot with a photon torpedo when he joined Dream Theater and became a mindless shredder. Before that, he wrote and played magnificent music. He could learn how to quit caring about what people like and just freaking play and compose like Dave. And by the way, freaking jealous, Dave. Please keep making me jealous. ;D
What's wrong with the Mirage? They all do roughly the same thing as each other anyway don't they? Says the absolute novice synth fan. Heh, well of course that can't be true; you just get that idea from realising how many settings these things must have. As in the words of that film the Propellerheads sampled- "Banks and banks of humming machinery; I've never seen so many knobs..."
Nice to see all your latest videos again!

Oh, man. Probably one of the MOST bad-ass synth-shredding vids of yours I've ever seen. Keep it up, Dave. >:D

Fantabulous work! :D

Oh hey, I remember you. I subscribed to you a long time ago.
It's great to see you're still an amazing keyboardist

Awesome! Very epic shred man and a nice array of keyboards as well heh.
There is something quite masturbatory in all of this. :P
+Merence Tckenna Merence I love you
This is amazing as usual! Keep up the good work!
Awesome as always, dude. Keep synthin' hard.
"Not used: an Ensoniq Mirage" "I'm not even sure why I still have it"? Surely, sir, you jest!
You remind me of Jordan Rudess. Although you could've pushed it to eleven by using some of those keytars on the wall ;)
For proper depression, I usually don't have to say anything at all to myself after the bit about being in my 40s.
Nice!
AWESOME!!!
Dave you have to many keyboards !! :-)

The best ever!
I'd take an EPS over the Mirage any day. Great to see a new vid!
Wanktastic! Also, "there's a pedal down here!" made my day
Happy Spyro
Awesome videos! How do you create the backing tracks for your shredding?

Nice vids though. keep it up.
Man.... how did you get all of those?? :)
Wow! Self taught eh? You should have taught your left hand as well!
