- Bajaj isn't new to South Africa, but thanks to Meme culture and this little car going viral recently, the whole of South Africa is talking and Bajaj enquiries are through the roof.
But what are the facts? I drive the Bajaj Qute to find out.
Serious question though...What engine would you fit if you upgraded YOUR OWN Bajaj Qute?

R17 000 to R20 000 max. It's over priced. You could get a good second hand for R62 000.

Lol if it was really R5000 I would probably buy 1 or 2 and see what fun I could get up to with one but for R70k+ you would have to be crazy considering the alternatives at that price range

Will be interesting to see the sales of this vehicle, especially in South Africa where people measure their worth via their possessions and would rather buy a used German vehicle to impress others, as apposed to live within their means.

Some people value things like safety, insulation, sound deadening & to not have a spare wheel in the footwell on the passenger side. You do realize that this thing was at first not legal on India's roads as a passenger vehicle. Ask yourself why. So please don't assume people are automatically snobbish if they look past this 'car'.

Yes poor example......(there are better alternatives)......yet, even his poor example is still better than this lawn mower 😜
This is perfect for the cheaper Bolt, Uber Go and deliveries like Uber Eats, Mr D Food and Takealot.
Also great for a city run around. For SA, the security (or lack thereof) of the front boot is a major concern though. You can't park it and leave anything precious locked in, with that front boot that can be forced open without any special tools.

I remember when this was launched. The manufacturer called it a quadricycle. Legally it's not considered a car in India. Although cheap, it didn't really catch on as people moved on to e-rickshaws instead.

@@braamies5339 if you are from SA you wouldn't say that,mini bus taxi here in SA are not bad at all,they are actually decent,comfortable enough for someone who doesn't own a car clean and safe but maybe it depends on location...anyway should not even consider getting into mini bus taxi territory they don't like threats or competition or just anyone stealing their passengers and they are very dangerous..so he can try there by ubber and taxify to be safe.

If it has aircon then it's already perfect for me for every day car. Because it's so hot and you really need aircon plus heavy traffic in the urban cities here in the Philippines. But in upper areas like baguio up to sagada part this is really good. Because you don't need aircon because it's already cold there.

So is this thing legally classified as a Quadricycle or a car? If it is a quadricycle you need a code A (Bike licence) to drive it. It basicallay is a Tuk Tuk with 4 wheels. So what licence is actually required to drive this?
I don't know how it is classified in South Africa, but in Europe it's a quadricycle. But in Europe they can be driven on a regular car license.

It won’t work on Joburg hiways though. The crazies that ride at 130+ will squash it like a nunu. But for the more pedestrian vibe of Cape Town I am sure it would work. If it gets to Durban the guys will drop the suspension put a drain pipe in for the exhaust and put a kicker sound system in the boot.

A Stanced version would be SO tight
It's a no for me.
1. Price is over inflated.
2. Taxis don't crash into you at 35kmph.
3. If you hit just 1 of our 90 billion potholes, the doors and roofrack will fall off.
3. No heater.
4. Technically a Tuc-Tuc.
5. Buying a second hand vehicle makes much more sense.
6. For that price I need carpets, aircon, airbags, roll cage, sunroof and a bigger engine.
7. Nobody in their right mind would allow their children into this, especially on our roads.
8. Even if you buy a Renault it would be a wiser choice.
9. Max I would pay for this is R25k.
