thank you for sharing all of this information - i had no idea how many ways you could go - with the help of this video i have confirmed my goal to become a social worker
@@JasmineAmaa that's awesome! I'm considering applying for either USYD or WSU. Would you have any advice in regards to choosing a Uni, or tips if you had the chance to redo your degree?
Jasmine how can I get into working with migrants and asylum seekers? I have a Masters of Criminology and Criminal Justice and currently doing a Diploma of Counselling but wouldn’t mind working with Migrants and Asylum seekers.
Hi, I appreciate you and the knowledge given in regards to becoming a social worker. I have a question...I am wanting to become a " general social worker", and am having a hard time trying to figure out the classes needed. May you help with this? Also, I was told that I should start off at a community college and then transfer to a University. What do you think of this?
Hi Tay, im glad u find my videos helpful. So starting off at a community college is great because u do some field work and hence u get some experience before uni. What u learn at uni mkes more sense when uve had some experience in the field. Also u get credit for some subjects at uni meaning u do not have to do every subj a sw who came in straight from high school is doin. In regards to subjects, it will b much more helpful if u watch my 'how i became a social worker video'. Off the top of my head psychology, community development and skills in human services r all mandatory subjects. I hope this helps xx
Hi, I'm am a junior in college and majoring in social work. I have a question, Can you have a social life? They address it as if we can not have friends or date. Doing things outside of work.
Hi Kristin.i don't see why not. Its all about balancing all aspects of your well. Most social worker jobs are mon-fri. So u have weekends off. I definatly have time for family, friends and everything i enjoy doing. I take time off work for holiday when i get the opportunity as well. So do not be discouraged :-) x
