What you need is some large rocks to stop the earthen dam wall from sloughing off again and another way is to spread powdered portland cement while you are backfilling the wall. It will harden up and lock the earth together
Jerry is quite the man, and one hell of a dozer operator ! Something tells me there isn't much heavy equipment that he couldn't operate ! I am so glad he is getting more comfortable being in front of the camera !
Kinda taking the “not cutting grass” to an extreme by having the dam wall slide aren’t ya ? I jest, bummer that it did. Now at least you can make an upgrade. Thanks for the video and allowing us to come along. Surprisingly spacious in the 120 with all of us there
Well, at least the pond held water. Choices were made, mistakes were made, but lessons are learned, and the end result will be even better! There will even be more green grass! I think the green grass was the most impressive change on this project!
Everything happens for a reason. And usually, a silver lining follows. The dam slide. It's not what you wanted, but it did. Now you get to do the shallow area and have an even nicer pond. It'll be exciting seeing it take shape once again. Great video Mr. Mike.
Gary’s dog seems like a trained lumberjacks helper. He was pulling the brush out of the way keeping Gary’s escape route clear and stood at the ready right behind him the rest of the way. Now to get Gary and Jerry together and you’ll have a dream team at hand and something tells me it won’t be too difficult to get the 850 and D4 on site with the 120 or 140. That some sounds like “come at you”. The only problem I see is getting MBTS to let you use his sheep’s foot roller. 😉
A thought for the new pond overflow. Before you fill in the drainage trench, put some pipe in the bottom leading down the hill. At the pond end, run it into a 55 gallon barrel with a 90 degree elbow pointing up then fill the barrel with gravel and concrete to anchor it to the bottom of the pond. This way the inlet for the overflow is away from the bank where debris likes to gather. If you _really_ want to plan ahead, put a cleanout fitting right where the vertical pipe comes out of the barrel. Open that to drop the pond level faster than a pump alone.
When I watched your pond build video you were compacting super dry chunky dirt. You needed moisture and a heavy unit with rubber tires to roll it in properly. A medium sized front loader or a weighted grading tractor with a box in back.
Man you went through those trees like butter. Break out the marshmallows, Hah! Thought I would stop by and say Hi. God bless you Captain and your family as well.
That was neat how the dog was helping! I sure appreciate the time and effort y'all put into these videos. I've learned quite a bit from you Derby folks.
We’re gonna have to have a naming contest for the Lake. How about asking for suggestions? Then you and Gary can select the top ones and let the fans vote... the winner gets a dock named after him! Cap’n I’m so glad you are getting time to advance your dream. It does my heart good to see you smile as you live your fantasy! Nice job on this video... good shooting, plenty of camera crashes and pyro-pleasure to the max. My kind of video!!!
Pond rebuild , bummer . You learn as you live , it didn't work as planned in the 1st build but I bet it'll be done right this time . Can't wait for the Yacht videos . Great video sir .
It’s Always A Good Day When A Fella Has Time To Catch Up On Your Video’s Mr. Kleeman. Fine Job Sir, God Bless & Keep It Safe Out There, Catch You On The Next One.
I would have never guessed he was in his 80’s from this video and a few others he is in. I have to agree with you, if I make his age I hope to be able to do half of what he is doing.
My neighbor is 90 the other day he didn't answer phone, so i drove over there he was up on the roof. The contractor i work for is 79, his mom is 102 she stopped driving because now people will deliver stuff to her(amazon)
Isn’t it amazing that we all know what a job really requires and would never do for a customer . Yet with cost and time restraints the jobs we try to cut corners on are our own. I wonder if it’s because we don’t want to take the time to do it exactly right yet know we will have the time to do it over😁. And in your case the time to improve on what you had. None of us want the do overs but in this case I’m sure the finished project is better suited to your needs and bank issues will be a forgotten memory. Great 👍 content. 🇺🇸🦅🌏⚓️🇺🇸
I'm still impressed by the dog dragging brush. I've got a dog that used to chew big pieces of wood into splinters, maybe your neighbor and I can get a dog powered clearing crew together?
Looking good Captain Kleeman, a lot of work on the go! I noticed Gary`s dog right away and wondered is that dog doing what I think it`s doing? Now that dog is smart or well trained, probably both! 👍😎
@@CaptainKleeman captain kleeman I've been hooked since dp mentioned ya I think by far you have better content on so far as make me feel involved dp may have more subs but you have a dedicated fan base!!!

Looks like you know what you doing captain. I second that age comment, granddad in his late 80s still climbs deerstands and turkey hunts, best generation hands down, men aren't made that way anymore.
Nice clearing job. Around my area you need a permit to burn brush like you did. The weather guessers are forecasting measurable snow here on Tuesday and 60's tomorrow. Have a great day
I like your theory, just do it however Jerry says to do it. Lol. I know a guy like that too. If he says to do something a certain way then that's how you should do it. Stay safe Cap.
You are a good fire builder. I was glad to see that you did use some for firewood. I taught fire building when I was in the Boy Scouts. Much of what you burned, the tops, we would have used to get our meal fire going. Your stars will align. Have good days.
Thanks for sharing your videos, pond still looks great even though it’s suffering from its problems, the grass looks amazing. Wishing you and your family the best.
Excited for this little series on the pond project. I unfortunately found the channel after you did the pond the first time, I've went back and watched many old videos but not in any order so it was a little bit all over the place lol
I've never been on an excavator that big, but I have run a couple small ones and track power is definitely lacking. Not a brand issue, I've noticed it on cat, john deere, and kubota.
A little tip dig the ground around the trunk of the tree you want to push over and you won't fight it. also the stump will rise straight out. watch "Lets Dig or Andrew Camarata " for tips.
Plenty accomplished over a few days Mike, I appear to have a few scratches and mud marks on me this time 🤔🤣🤦♂️ Reckon you will be able get Jerry over no problem, getting all the plant there you need may be slightly trickier, are you going to get Aaron to operate the roller, you know how much he likes them !!! Outros seem to be difficult for you, do you not like saying goodbye??? 🤣👋
I wonder how old that Hickory tree was? I cut a Hickory snag off one time, sat down with my Dad for a cup of coffee and counted 72 rings in the first 10 inches of the stump.
I recently found your channel. Loving the content (I grew up homesteading when it was just our life on the farm) it brings back precious memories. I am curious about the pond. You indicated it was a project with a neighbor. Does the pond stratal the property line?
So a question for the Q&A. Given that you have flared the bow out you will have overhanging concrete. Have you got to shore up the overhang much to prevent it pulling itself over? 🏴
I have a thought for you and your pond area why don’t you make a deck or patio area on the top side of the pond for sitting and enjoying that beautiful view nothing fancy just something simple for a few chairs and maybe a fire pit
Grass came in nice ! To bad you have to tear up half of it
What you need is some large rocks to stop the earthen dam wall from sloughing off again and another way is to spread powdered portland cement while you are backfilling the wall. It will harden up and lock the earth together

19:35 is such a lovely sound of that crackle of the wood in the fire. Shes ah burning that's for sure

Pond needs a name! Nice progress.
That's some nice green grass , I bet the dear love that
Captain I know you hate and having to dig up that pretty green grass can't wait to see when the pond is finished up
Try that 'hatchet' maneuver to break tops and limbs... works for Chris, Let's dig 18
He also has a bigger machine and deals with pine trees. Different types of wood
River WAS beautiful, and so were the redbuds and dogwoods!
