It's amazing how art and the artist that create expression can influence a person's life. James Garner did that for me and millions of other people. Imagine being a young kid living in small town America and watching the incredible Rockford Files in the 1970's . The honesty of that show demonstrated many of the human traits experienced in every day life but on a Hollywood level. And James Garner always played his character's role in such a relatable fashion. It was art mixed with television but there were many things from that show you could learn from. More than anything you came away with a lesson in strength and character. Interestingly enough James Garner also showed many examples strength such as getting involved in the civil right's marches of the 1960's. He didn't have to do that he could have easily made his millions and played it safe. But instead he marched with many of the Civil Rights leaders of that time to change the country. Garner showed character in real life and in his art! His high profile show gave national exposure for many African American and Latin stars in that era such as Louis Gossett Jr and Rita Moreno. And doing so when most shows on TV were not portraying all Americans in equal billing nor in a positive light. That was another reason why the Rockford Files stood out but in addition to all that it was simply the coolest Detective show American television has ever seen. It was so awesome that a particular 16 year old kid went out and bought that same car that James Garner's character drove. lol. That is the power of art.

I can’t believe Rick got a nomination for The Stranger Within...he was great in that film as a psychopath but it wasn’t Golden Globe-quality in my opinion. Seemed like a Lifetime movie

Love Garner you can tell hes scared though with the shaking and the quiver to his voice. He hated public speaking where he had to try to find his own words,he did great though and the beard is something he should've had more in the movies looked good on him.

How much are you willing to guess that Tom Selleck saw James Garner sporting his mustache and beard, back then? Think about it!!!

Yeah, I read that, too. It's kinda weird that three or four years (I don't know exactly when Frankenstein came out) after these Golden Globe Awards, she was still with him.
I'm also trying to guess what he's saying to her when his nomination is announced :D (I know I'm weird to care about this but I guess he starts with "I love..." I'm pretty sure xD) Funny thing, tough, I never really found a lot about his private life anywhere on the internet - but a lot of sources say he's gay v(..)v

MusicMeddy James Garner was married to his one and only wife for well over fifty years. There are always some incredibly stupid remarks about people being gay, or not. He was known asa standout guy to work with. Also, he loved dogs. Can’t go wrong with that.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🇨🇦💕💕💕

What has being gay got to add or take away from an award.
