Honoured to have worked with Shannon as a fellow actor in the city. She was very talented and I’m heart broken that she was murdered and her life was cut so short. She was going big places. Rest well Shannon, your life was worth a standing ovation. You are missed and loved. My heart felt sorrow and condolences to her amazing family, Erin is a beautiful person.
I'm from Canada and I must say that justice has not been served on behalf of Shannon. That's a joke. If that were my daughter i'd be waiting for him to get out then I would serve my own justice. That guy should never get out of prison.
his hands got tired so he used a belt this is first degree murder, not second or manslaughter, this is not a moment of passion, he made the choice to use the belt to finish the job because he wanted the job to be finished. He wanted her to die, and he went above and beyond to make sure she did. my heart is aching for this family. Rest in peace, you beautiful soul, and I wish all the strength and happiness possible to this family
She not only played 15 instruments (which is an incredible feat in itself!) but had a very charismatic presence on screen - it's possible that she would've outgrown their marriage and him soon and he not only saw it coming but wasn't willing to let her go.
I can’t believe that he was given a life sentence but can get out on parole in 10 years the family must go to every parole hearing and make sure he spends the rest of his life in jail.
I just stumbled upon Crime Beat last week, and I have been hooked. Also listened to the entire podcast at work. Nancy does such a great job with narration and storytelling. Can't wait for more
There is not one case in this show, where the sentence fits the crime. The Canadian justice system needs to do better by the victims and their families. Oh, I get so angry.
Josh Burgess kept his hands inside his pockets during the public plea. He's good at keeping an innocent face but yes on a closer look, he looks uneasy.
How the detective interrogating him believed all the crap Josh was saying is beyond me! His "tears" (if there were any...) were only for himself, and the fact that he had her buried in the garden all along has nothing to do with love but instead, it's the ultimate form of power and control over Shannon! She possibly wanted to leave him and he couldn't accept that.
What a horrible person. I hope he stays locked up for his entire life. This was premeditated 1st degree murder. How did not police discover her body during the first search I will never understand!
It feels like the undercover detective was trying to defend him which was very off putting. So she was alleged to have said cruel things to him she had to be murdered? He sounds like a monster. My heart goes to Shannon's family.
I would like to thank the narrator for a beautiful job. Her speaking manner is articulate and concise. Very refreshing in this age of slurry-slang. Truly a pleasure to listen to.
I can't see any good reason for him to cry after what he's done to her. He's standing by her family when her sister gave the family appeal with no spine at all.
What kind of sloppy police work was this here. They searched Joshs apartement twice and still didn`t find evidence?? This is 1st degree murder and the sentence is ridiculous.
I'm not surprised at all by his sentence. That's what it's like here in Canada, unfortunately. I just cannot comprehend how the law says life, which is 20-25 years and he's eligible for parole in 10. That makes no sense. Life is more than 20-25 years! Making him eligible for parole after 10 is a joke! It's an embarrasment!
I watch a lot of true crime. I have never been so strongly impressed with a victim. Shannon was remarkably creative and intelligent. What a tragic loss.
Crime Beat TV seems to be a well put together show, I especially appreciate the minimum repartition in the narrative. Many of the TV shows of this nature could certainly learn from your production practices. The stories I have watcned though all very sad and all the family members you have come into contact with and the respectful treatment of same is worthy of notice.
Thanks for upload. Disgusts me that he's standing with the family pleading for news knowing what he did , then just carried on regardless ..Family must have been left feeling used .Parole after 10 yrs! !!
Only a few minutes in, I really hope this isn't an unsolved case. Edited: So glad that Josh confessed and her family got at least the closure of knowing that she wasn't alive. These cases are so tragic. May Shannon rest in peace
so this clown didn't want to listen anymore, but doesn't know how to leave at that moment till things kinda calm down, says he loves her but kills her? if he did love her should of separated,or divorced and just hope she is happy and healthy for the rest of her life, just saying IF he really loved her..
wow that woman detective has huge almost cartoonesque eyes. I can't believe the police never checked the storage sheds. once I heard the husband hadn't called about her missing, red flags even with their schedules. I really hate his whispering like that's going to change what he is saying. talk like a normal person and stop victim blaming. he knew exactly what he was doing once he chose to use a belt.
I knew it was probably him straight away after hearing a) he never called the cops n b) he looked guilty at tv appearance w family..sad to know I was right
That was so so sad (unfortunately these open marriages always seem to end in a disaster) however not an excuse and not warranted, he should rot inside forever what a lovely family she has I wish them some peace
His story sounds like BS. Most likely is that she broke up with him/refused him sex or both and he attacked her. That would explain his stupid comments about her making the sex rough. He was trying to cover up for any bruises they would find on or inside her.
Crime Beat was on my recommended list ... totally hooked. Making my way through all of the videos and podcasts. Thank you for the brilliant work. LOVE IT!! 👏❤😁
What is life in prison with no chance of parole for at least 10 years? Life in prison with no chance of parole is life in prison. Why the F is there a question at 10 years? I get the US is nuts on prison terms but Canada needs a clue.
Glad I found you folks. Great production. Not over the top like some on the internet. Great interviews. And Canada, too! Thanks. Just the facts, Ma'am!
This one really hurt to watch, the sentence is nowhere near accurate! The fact he used a belt to finish the job shows that he premeditated this making it intentional to finish her off. If his hands got tired he could have stopped and let go. Of course this would mean jail all the same for him as it's aggravated assault and intent to kill. This should have been first degree murder or manslaughter. I hope that in 2022 he will NOT get parole. Him whispering and crying and carrying on like everything was normal is so psychotic, if he had felt REAL remorse and guilt he would have admitted it, he would have been in pieces! 8 MONTHS it such a long time to pretend, the fact he wasn't dishevelled during interviews and kept his cool during house searches should tell them all they needed to know about his mental state, the crying in the confession interviews? pathetic.
Don’t forget: Lacie Peterson’s family supported Scott Peterson for a long time, too. It’s so hard to believe that someone whom you thought you knew is capable of terrible things.
It's Obvious that he was guilty the way he stood behind his sisters wife with his hands in the pocket, stoned faced no tear no emotions just...looked Guilty 🤦🏿♀️.. people should think twice before getting married, open marriage and live with your partner in the same house, that becomes the worst regretful mistake ever..
The last detective almost makes it out like Josh is the victim. She said cruel things? Josh tried to calm her down? Wow, Canada you need to do better. Mollycoddling these murderers.
The family never suspected her husband?? I've known my brother in law for over 25 years and we all love him. If my sister came up missing and he just didn't seem that alarmed immediately he would be the first person I'd suspect.
Her sister is impressively articulate, such a personal family tragedy and she has shared the story with such clarity and poise.
He murdered his wife, and he's eligible for parole after only 10 yrs.? That's justice in Canada?
I'm from Canada and I must say that justice has not been served on behalf of Shannon. That's a joke. If that were my daughter i'd be waiting for him to get out then I would serve my own justice. That guy should never get out of prison.

miss bellina. Absolutely.
She not only played 15 instruments (which is an incredible feat in itself!) but had a very charismatic presence on screen - it's possible that she would've outgrown their marriage and him soon and he not only saw it coming but wasn't willing to let her go.
That clip of her walking across the stage at graduation shows how much of an absolute joy she must have been. RIP 💗
Being eligible for parole after only 10 years for murder is ridiculous. Should have gotten life with no parole. What were you thinking, Canada?!
I love the detective lady; she is so calm and matter-of-fact in a down-to-earth way; no wonder he confessed.
his whispering whining is revolting
Her sister did a great job of talking about this.
Can't wait for more
He choked her. Then when his hands got tired, he used a belt.. seems very, very intentional
Crying because he is found out.. what a coward.
There is not one case in this show, where the sentence fits the crime. The Canadian justice system needs to do better by the victims and their families. Oh, I get so angry.
he's such a liar and basically blames it all on her! That makes me sick to hear it.
"He seems very remorseful." Nah-ah! He was just acting and his acting was so cringeworthy!!!
Josh Burgess kept his hands inside his pockets during the public plea. He's good at keeping an innocent face but yes on a closer look, he looks uneasy.
Canada needs a complete overhaul on their justice system because it sucks!
How the detective interrogating him believed all the crap Josh was saying is beyond me! His "tears" (if there were any...) were only for himself, and the fact that he had her buried in the garden all along has nothing to do with love but instead, it's the ultimate form of power and control over Shannon! He's just so pathetic, acting like some kind of abuse victim.
He’s sobbing because he got caught
I would like to thank the narrator for a beautiful job. Her speaking manner is articulate and concise. Very refreshing in this age of slurry-slang. Truly a pleasure to listen to.
His whispery fake voice is maddening!
I'm shocked the family didn't suspect the "husband", considering their unconventional marriage. Those type of arrangements never end well.
TEN YEARS?? What?? "Day parole" in 2022?? Unbelieveble.
I can't see any good reason for him to cry after what he's done to her. He's standing by her family when her sister gave the family appeal with no spine at all.
10 years??? In the U.S. he NEVER would get out. Life without parole.
you search the house but not the backyard that was sloppy work
This guy trying to be the actor 😂
So sad. Thank you again Nancy Hixt for bringing light to these stories in the compassionate way you do.
Great show! I've binged every episode so far. I hope there's many more episodes/seasons to come
I think that undercover cop has been doing undercover work for so long that he has begun to sympathize more with the criminals than the victims.
Josh sounds like that clay skit "Hi Stranger"...and he is so punchable when he starts to "whisper-cry" like he is the darn victim...smh..
Man her sister though... a true angel and gift 🥰💜
What kind of sloppy police work was this here. They searched Joshs apartement twice and still didn`t find evidence?? This is 1st degree murder and the sentence is ridiculous.
The videos of her really remind me that this really did happen, she really was a person and not just a character in a story.
I'm not surprised at all by his sentence. That's what it's like here in Canada, unfortunately. I just cannot comprehend how the law says life, which is 20-25 years and he's eligible for parole in 10. No Oscar for him! " I didn't want to hear her anymore'".... Has he NEVER heard of a front [ or back ] door???
Literally dated someone that could ´cry’ himself like this out of any responsibility or accountability
It's my experience that women don't make mistakes like hearing breakup instead of makeup!
Ten years, what a shame. Rest In Peace Shannon.
How could her family not suspect him.. they say you never see danger when its clear and present💔
We've only got his word for all these awful things she supposedly said to him to set him off , sounds like excuses to me
Only a few minutes in, I really hope this isn't an unsolved case.
Edited: So glad that Josh confessed and her family got at least the closure of knowing that she wasn't alive. These cases are so tragic. May Shannon rest in peace
They never walked a cadaver dog around Josh's property. Wow. Nice job, there detective. 🙄🤦🏼♀️
so this clown didn't want to listen anymore, but doesn't know how to leave at that moment till things kinda calm down, says he loves her but kills her? if he did love her should of separated,or divorced and just hope she is happy and healthy for the rest of her life, just saying IF he really loved her..
She was waaaaaay out of his league.
wow that woman detective has huge almost cartoonesque eyes.
I couldn't listen to his "confession", I had to fast-forward through it. So much faking and lying, so much falseness
I knew he did it when the sister introduced the family at the press conference. Just from the way he looked!
I knew it was probably him straight away after hearing a) he never called the cops n b) he looked guilty at tv appearance w family..sad to know I was right
This man is a waste of life... 😔
She said "Cruel things?" How about True things?!?!!
lmao his bad acting in the interview is hilarious
Canada is a little bit too lenient with murder charges
That was so so sad (unfortunately these open marriages always seem to end in a disaster) however not an excuse and not warranted, he should rot inside forever what a lovely family she has I wish them some peace

There's no such thing as 'break up sex'
- such a liar.
I feel like he's vying for Best Dramatic Actor @ the Oscars!! Ugh- he's pathetic!!
Thanks for opening up the comments. 👍
He was auditioning his way to prison🤷♀️
For God's sake, they couldn't have been easier on him if they tried! Is that an interrogation or a therapy session!? Unbelievable.
did he just say I love you so much ...I hope everytime that he closes his eye she appears...reminding him what he did to her
This father breaks my heart!
Crime Beat was on my recommended list ... totally hooked. Making my way through all of the videos and podcasts. Thank you for the brilliant work. LOVE IT!! 👏❤😁
The sister is awesome 😊. Rest in Peace lovely girl 😢
What is life in prison with no chance of parole for at least 10 years? Life in prison with no chance of parole is life in prison. Why the F is there a question at 10 years? I get the US is nuts on prison terms but Canada needs a clue.
LOVE your shows, keep them coming! I just subscribed!
Nov 27, 2014 is the same day my mom passed away. That felt weird to hear the date.
Glad I found you folks. Great production. Not over the top like some on the internet. Great interviews. And Canada, too! Thanks. Just the facts, Ma'am!

I have to say I do not understand life with no parole but then can get a day pass parole after so many years. How is that life?
As a new subscriber, this is a great channel. Thankyou for your content, cheers.
I really hate when law enforcement says "no indications of foul play" 🙄 when there's a missing human being. Horrible fate for this poor girl.
Open marriage. Not good.
What an amazing family she has.
Thank you, friends at Crime Beat, 👍great show, Thank you, for letting us know!!! 🙋♂️
They say, if you want to get away with murder do it in Canada!!! I’m a Canadian and I’m disgusted with how our justice system works. Rip Shannon
He is a sick monster and he will be free in 10 years to do it again!! Well done justice system well done 👏
Don’t forget: Lacie Peterson’s family supported Scott Peterson for a long time, too. It’s so hard to believe that someone whom you thought you knew is capable of terrible things.
It Was Pretty Creepy watching the Ending of the clip from her "Last Audition" at the very End. May God hold her Family 😞😭
She was really beautiful. What a damn shame.
Very sorry to the family.
Awesome, thanks guys for another great show !
So the police searched his home multiple times but never looked on the property? Excellent police work!
I already questioned why he was wearing all black. And his look on his face was guilt .... I just knew it
This is such an awesome channel! I cannot believe it took me this long to find a Canadian crime channel, Ty for the content. RIP Shannon. So sad. 🥀
I hope he never gets out. He's an actor.
I wouldn't be able to have such calm conversation with a murderer.
The last detective almost makes it out like Josh is the victim. She said cruel things? Josh tried to calm her down? Wow, Canada you need to do better. Mollycoddling these murderers.
Omg that guys beard... epic
The family never suspected her husband?? I've known my brother in law for over 25 years and we all love him. If my sister came up missing and he just didn't seem that alarmed immediately he would be the first person I'd suspect.
