    As a German who grew up only a hundred yards away from the bratwurst-stand in Regensburg I was happy to see that you and your family enjoy visiting my hometown. The shot of the bride at 4:20 is almost exactly the vista my family had when looking out of the window. So nice to stumble upon such a little gem in a video on youtube. I have relatives in the USA and whenever there was a visit it was obligatory to bring along some glasses of the famous sweet mustard ;-). If ever I happen to meet you there I´d be glad to have a little chat, if you don´t mind. I always enjoy your videos, since years, by the way. Best wishes and blessings!

    oh yeah. I think a couple of the pictures from the black isle part were actually at rosemarkie. we loved it there.

    I find Passau to be the definition of the German hidden gem. The view of the town from a distance at night is magical and when you get to the town itself, it look even better!
    Also off the top of my head, I have fond memories of the couple of times I went to Guerande, Brittany/Pays de la Loire. Very small medieval town and a bit out of the way (in the St Nazaire area) but there's a national park next door and a popular seaside resort (La Baule) just a few km away. And a lot of history.

    I went to Bruges last year, beautiful! I advise going during the many cultural festivals, you really will enjoy the music through the streets and the amazing canal system!

      So true. will be back in Bruges next summer for some filming, can't wait!

      Im hoping to make it back to! Being a student and trying to travel is tough! Luckily I have a friend who lives in Brussels which makes it a little easier.

    • @woltersworld
      @woltersworld  11 лет назад

      that does, especially since Brussels is so expensive for hotels... I am not looking forward to my hotel bill next summer :)

      Michael Porter From Bruges Ghent is only a short train ride away. And it's so worth it! Beautiful and more alive than Bruges.

    • @hendrikgaens
      @hendrikgaens 9 лет назад

      Michael Porter Antwerp is awesome as well! A much bigger city, also very historic, with a beautiful cathedral, some nice museums, a lot of churches and other old architecture, and much more a living city than Bruges, with a lot of shopping, cafés and other stuff. Bruges is more like a tourist attraction in comparison.

    Awesome videos man! Your videos really made me want to travel all around Europe, and now it's your fault that I can't shake this feeling off lol. But seriously, keep up the good work and keep "dem videos comin" :)
    Best regards from Portugal

    Have you ever been to Potsdam? It's a place where nearly every European culture is represented in a city located on a river island. Here you can find Italian architecture, baroque palaces (there are 17 palaces), a dutch city quarter, English gardens and cottages, mosques (with a different function btw.), lots of nature, a small Russian village in the middle of the town etc. I think this might be an interesting place for you.
    :)

    I would recommend Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. Jaw-dropping architecture, hot springs beneath the River Tepla, stretches of which steam. You can drink the waters from the ornamental taps located along the riverside in the old town. Beautiful location in a valley.

    I've been to Inverness many years ago on a UK bus tour with my parents, nice town.
    Another great place in the UK is Chester which has one of the best preserved Roman
    walls, we even got to walk on top of it.

    Mark, have you been to Lindau on the Bodensee? There are so many nice towns in that area it is hard to pin one down in Swabia. There are so many nice places there, but you would have to do some investigating to find museums and such to make a day of it.

    Hey, this is cool ^^ I came here to get some travel inspiration, but it's really nice to see my own town (Leiden) listed here too. And it is beautiful ^^ Plus, you can sail here and in spring, there are the world famous tulip fields around the corner. But I'd really love to go to Regensburg (and Nürnberg while I'm in the area). ^^

    Bruges is hardly off the beaten track - it's now over-touristed and expensive.
    Also, the Historic Sausage Kitchen by the old Stone Bridge in Regensburg is medieval, not Roman. It's old, but not that old.

    LEIDEN!

  • @mvl71
    @mvl71 6 лет назад

    Leiden is wonderful.
    Lived there for 24 years and probably will move there again for my final years.
    The interesting stuff is in walking distance from the train station, so if you're staying in Amsterdam do take the train.
    Make sure you visit the _Burcht_ . Somewhat hidden, it's the remains of a citadel on a hill. You have a wonderful view on the old city and it's a perfect spot for taking pictures.
    Oh, and it's free of charge!
    One of the best hidden gems of Leiden. Trouble finding the _Burcht_ (as I said, it's somewhat hidden)?
    Any local will only be too pleased to take you there and tell you all about it.
    [shameless plug]
    Can't find a local in the streets? Ask my cousin Chris, proprietor of _Voetlicht_ (art deco and tiffany lamps) at 15 Haarlemmerstraat.
    Shipping abroad no problem.
    [/shameless plug]

    I loved Ypres when I went there. Plus in the UK at least we learn about WW1 just as much as WW2, I assume that in the USA that you learn less about WW1 because the US were less involved in the war whereas they played a major role in WW2 so therefore learn more about it.

      woltersworld Listen to MrAmsterdamcity.
      Maastricht has a church from the 8th century, a very impressive one from the 11th century, a genuine Roman bridge, 12th century city walls, great restaurants, etc..
      It is situated between the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and combines all the best of these 3 countries. Trust me, you will love it.
      Other tip for the Netherlands; make a tour around the IJsselmeer and visit the old harbour and fishing towns, with the exception of Volendam, because that's a tourist trap. Recommend Urk (not on a sunday, because they are very christian), Hindeloopen, Harlingen, Hoorn, Elburg and the Zuiderzee museum.
