      @felsenruh 4 года назад +4

      @@jackprice6599 I have an honest, respectful question since you may be familiar with construction around the Sydney area.... As a USA resident what I see on Drain Addict's videos seems very odd. It seems very odd to build houses or buildings on top of an "basement" or "crawl space" where the "floor" is bare earth. Don't you have problems with dampness and even mold in the living space? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

    I thought open trench sewers went out with the Romans! How difficult would it be to lay pipe in that trench? Not very. It must be mouldy in that basement.

    • @jamesgrimwood1285
      @jamesgrimwood1285 4 года назад +5

      I was trying to rationalise that in my head too (I mean, I gave up. The house has a random white pipe coming out the ground and going through a doorway, clearly plumbing is a dark art down under...). The best I could come up with is the house is built on a slope, and the open drain lets water running out the ground go around the house, rather than soaking into the walls.

    • @James_Bowie
      @James_Bowie 4 года назад +3

      It's _not_ for sewage, it's stormwater. But I've never seen that before in Sydney. Those foundations looks like an owner-builder effort and the plumbing has probably never been inspected.

    • @sydneyshinshi
      @sydneyshinshi 4 года назад +6

      AS James said the open one is just to collect water seepage out of the sandstone so it cant build up against the back of the walls. The pipes running out of the door was a temp pump setup as the sewage and drainage were both blocked.

    • @polarbear1754
      @polarbear1754 4 года назад +1

And yeah I’d imagine these guys earn a lot of money, just look at how much the equipment they use costs. Anyways have a good day and hopefully you find the career that you want

    You always know it's going to be roots in storm drains, when the foam jets out first.

    I think you have been to this disaster of a house once before - open storm water under the house is 100% non compliant as is the soakage pit that it runs into - as for the cast iron drains from another era well they do not match the house (extension at least) - doesn't meet code - needs to be all replaced without question. Good job Ratty hope you are well.
