In this video, I review the Vevor 40KG Cast Steel Anvil. It has some minor flaws, but overall is a decent and affordable anvil for any beginner blacksmith.

I had a 195 kg anvil in my workshop, sold my entire workshop and business when got cancer and a stroke, the doctor told me my end was near. Haha, how wrong she still is after 2 years. And bought myself new tools, including this exact same anvil, I really like it, good steel quality, weight is more then good enough for light smithing and sheet metal work. cost me 110 euro's, good deal I would say.

I recently grabbed one of the 44lb Vevor anvils to check out... seems perfectly usable for a wretch like myself! It's harder to get a stump at the right height than a cheap anvil these days...

They are solid starting anvils. I'm going on around three years now and it works well. Magnets work well to stop the ring. I have the 132 pounder. A few dings from miss hits, but all in all I'm happy with it until I can get my next anvil. I'm looking into possibly a fontanini, or maybe a new holland. Id love to get one of those monsters off of anvil planet, but hes in Italy, and the shipping is alot.
And not all of us novices are hipsters... haha. Even if we have long hair and beards. The metal heads and hippies look similar. 🍻

I have the same Anvil for my grand son to pound on , But I find I'm using it at times to do the smaller jobs around the shop . Well worth having around . 👍🤠.

The ringing should be damped by a bit of silicon caulk between the anvil and stump and/or some magnet stuck on the horns 😆

I have the 132 pound version, there are two models of each size, the blue ones are supposed to have a face hardness of 50c and the black ones 55c. Mine was black (when I bought it) and indeed, most of the face is right around 55. The seller claims the material is cast 1045, and from grinding, I'm inclined to believe that.
It took a good few hours to clean up and dress but once done you're set for life. Most of that time was spent cleaning up the surface of the round horn (which is NOT as hard as the face, but that's normal). It had a ton of casting irregularities and pock marks to clean up, but it did polish up nicely eventually.
I've been pounding on it for almost a year now and the face is still in great shape. I have it mounted to a very heavy - about 250lbs - base and that extra mass has quieted it somewhat. More effective was putting an old speaker magnet on the square horn. Don't know how, but that worked real well. Now it's quiet enough to not bother me. If I start to get annoyed in the future, I'll fill the base with sand and see how that goes.
The giant - and irregular - hardy hole is a little bit of a pain... its 1.188 front to back and 1.150 side to side, so the tools I make to go in there will only fit in one orientation - unless I make them super loose to fit both ways. The pritchel is flat out useless, so don't even bother.
Overall though, I recommend it to anyone starting out. In my area I would have to spend over a thousand dollars for a similar size used anvil and all the ones I've seen, even at that price, are beat to sh!t and put away wet.

I've seen blacksmiths wrap heavy chain around their anvils to damp the ringing. Also, this would be a good musical anvil for *Il Trovatore* performances!

Hi I just saw your video of Uruk helmet and I´m just beginner in metalwork but I will definetly try it as my project and hopefully I could finish it someday to look at least similiar but I wanted to ask you as professional if it´s possible to make Gondor soldier helmet as that shape and those decorations seems for me as beginner as nightmare.

I plan on getting one of those for my life demos this summer. Nice and light for travel. But I have the 132 pound accacio and it's nice until I finish saving for something better. Probably a 450 fontanini.

I was always worried I might get mistaken for a hipster.....beard, ponytail, plaid shirt, weird tattoo....but apparently not going to happen, something to do with the beefy hands and a propensity to suddenly be metalworking and tree felling....

Vevor seems desperate to show their anvils are comparable to the new HF steel anvils. Many blacksmiths suddenly review this anvil.
Personally i wouldn't trust these reviews as much. I'm pretty sure they handpicked ones with some better quality control.

As a man, i will NEVER wear tight womans jeans/pants that have become the current fashion. How men wear tight pants is beyond me…. My junk would never tolerate tight pants. ….. men wearing skin tight women jeans….. smfh. I remember when this whole fashion started around 2005 with the skateboard community. Pure insanity
