'Looking Through The Flowers' love it! Just imagine if the finished floorboards were branded with a small E&J mark on the underside, denoting the 'source sawyer mark' of the lumber. Somewhat like the various marks placed on jewellery. Perhaps many years from now some appraiser of some fine old house would locate the E&J mark and identify the floors as having been milled from logs by two famous sawyers Emerald and Jade. "if you enjoyed, do that, if you didn't, don't" Yaaas! Love that attitude!

Well I became disabled and worried to death because my 7 yr review with SSDI is coming this month.I will be 63 in a week. I've got all kinds of issues like COPD, STAGE 4 CHRONIC KINDEY FAILURE and right kidney will have to ve extrated in the nezlxt yr or so its the one tahts failing bad, MILD CASE OF SCOLIOSIS OF THE SPINE> CURVE OF THE ENTIRE SPINE. BOTH KNEES REPLACED,RIGHT SHOULDER REPLACED TWICE IN THE SAME YR 2012 AND STILL NOT RIGHT, LEFT SHOULDER NEEDS REPLACED BUT WHATS THE POINT THE RIGHT ONE DIDNT WORK OUT. And I've been seeing a chiropractor for 2 months for the spine having 3 bulging disks and alot of arthritis on the spine and in my neck. So who knows what's going to happen. I may end up driving truck like you did or something else of If lose my benefits. It's scary because I know I can't do physical work anymore like I did for 40 yrs. Beat my body up bad and paying for it now.
As a videographer now retired after over 40 years I am consistantly impressed with Jade's videography. So creative! Of course it doesn't matter how good the shooting is, the editing must use the footage to it's potiential. Good job ladies! (did I mention that I taught videography for 15 years at VCU)

The combination of this, and the fact Emerald is one of the most natural presenters/hosts I've watched on this platform make the channel so professional and feel bigger budget than other channels that don't provide content even half as interesting or satisfying to watch as LCLY.
Each stack of metal banded lumber is termed a "bunk". Origin of term I don't know. I was a Sawyer on table, cross-cut and big 4 blade gang saws. I was the same age as these two sawyers as I was. Good memories. When I worked at a mill yard on structural 20' big beams as the loader for the cross cut Sawyer their joke was cut off a foot or so and then let me know he was doing a favor for me by making it lighter as I balanced the timber on my shoulder and hauled it away. I envy the loader these two sawyers use to load. This is an excellent team.
A good friend of mine owns a planing mill in Jamestown, Tn. which have two of the huge planing/moulding machines running wide open daily. They produce everything from T&G to shiplap, flooring and logs for log houses. It's a family run operation that has been in business for decades. In two locations with a kiln being in the second, they have millions of board feet of rough lumber and 6 x 12's ready to be processed. It's an impressive operation. That's what has me so interested in this channel, the commitment and tenacious work ethic it requires to keep an operation like this running smoothly. Thanks for all your insights about this demanding business, it's enlightening.

Seeing such good lumber stacked up reminds me of a time I went in the big "L" store to pick up some 2x4s. Sitting in the middle of the aisle was a stack of the most warped, whopperjaw, crooked 2x4s I have ever seen. They looked like someone tried to stack up spaghetti after it was cooked. What in the world "L" thought anyone was going to do with that mess is beyond me to this day. Cutting it up for kindling was all it was good for, yet they were selling it for the same price as more acceptable boards!

You can buy plastic moulded corner softeners so your banding does not damage the wood. Also make lumber piles same height and use common dunnage dimensions and put first level of lumber on trailer then put 8’ dunnage on top to lock load together. Then second level on top binds the lower one to be way more stable b

You should include the extras in the kits for your boxes. A bonus of beauty! Or maybe throw some in with a merch purchase. I’m old school when it comes to hardwood flooring. Sixteen years ago I put down about 1800 sq ft of 4.5 inch mostly long locally milled ash. I sanded and finished with three coats of hand applied pure tung oil. The floors have held extremely well over the years.

My grand parent's place has every building covered inside and out with ship lap. Not only does it look great, but it also makes the structure much stronger. Their house was the original general store at the train station for their town. It was built around 1850, and then moved around 1950, which is when my grand parents bought it. The general store building was actually split in half as one half was a very ornate 4 story house with octagonal towers on the front two corners and a third, square tower in the back right corner. Only the tops of these towers have the 4th floor. The rest of the house goes up 3 floors. On the back side was a 2 story "shotgun" style box, which was the store itself. This wass so solid that it survived a direct hit by the storm of 1900. If you look into the history of this storm, it is one of if not the most destructive hurricanes in US history. So, for such a tall structure made from wood to survive is a real testament to the strength of the ship lap and the building techniques used.
The only bad thing is the video was to short 😥wished it was longer is all .. I don't know about y'all but I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this year spend it with family have good conversation and enjoy a delicious meal anyway thank you for sharing another fantastic video looking forward to next one 😃

Oak solid planks cleared of knots, cracks and blemishes are a rather rarity. Nice work on the mill.
