You know you can get Microsoft Excel for free online?

Hi. All your lovely spreadsheets seem to be in Excel, but MS Office is expensive, so I haven't got it on my personal laptop - I use the free LibreOffice. When I try to open them, Excel asks me if I've got a license, which obviously I haven't, then chucks me out. Is there a way to save them to different spreadsheet types or a cheap way to secure Excel?
