Memphis city council just approved the transferring of stadium ownership from the city to the university of Memphis! It is now officially the Memphis Tigers ON CAMPUS facility! The money is approved as well and it's renovation cost is up to $270 million. They also got a $50 million donation from Fred Smith and phase 1 begins this year.
Memphis & the state of Tennessee wanted to renovate both the FedExForum (Grizz & Tigers) and the stadium. Money was tight because the state is also helping out with Nashville's new stadium. Enter Fred Smith of FedEx. His foundation kicked in $50M to ensure both projects got the go-ahead. One caveat... the City of Memphis would transfer ownership of the stadium to the University. Plans include modernizing the load-in area to allow for concerts.
I’ve noticed that . I’ve rebuilt smaller fifa clubs and their stadiums are small you should see American high school foootball stadiums down in Texas Oklahoma Alabama etc… they’re big as well !
As a gator fan, from what I’ve heard is they are upgrading the restrooms, improving the concessions and walkways, as well as improving the video boards and sound system, and improving the seating in sections that is expected to decrease the capacity slightly.
KU's stadium will take longer than 2025. Phase one will be finished by 2025 season, but that's only the west and north sides of the stadium. The east side still hasn't been given the green light at this point. They're waiting to see what ticket demand looks like for next season, which will probably be played at Arrowhead Stadium.
Yep, I love how they call this a renovation- I live close to Lawrence and drove by this. The current stadium is being completely torn down. They are not renovating it, they are rebuilding it.
Just to let @DepressedGinger know, Fred Smith (CEO of FedEx) gave 50 million to cover the shortfall that was needed, because of the extra money needed for the FedEx Forum renovation. So it was 150 Million plus 50 Million by Fred Smith and 250 Million for FedEx Forum. In exchange for Fred Smith giving 50 million to help out, the city had to give the stadium to the University. The city just approved that transfer. So the plan is to start at end of this coming offseason in Memphis.
LSU is getting upgrades to Tiger Stadium for the 2024 season, this is apart of the 100th anniversary of Tiger Stadium. Construction has already begun, they’re getting new video boards, new sound systems, and new lighting displays. That’s all that’s been announced so far.
Beaver Stadium right now is a high school stadium stacked on a high school stadium, and for good measure one more set of bleachers from another high school stadium. lol.
Capacity wasn’t the point. It originally had east and west stands. Then added endzone and started stacking. Exterior is unfinished steal beams and first level had a gravel floor like most of the countries high school stadiums.
Florida state has started a 350 million renovation to Doak Campbell stadium and you don't even mention it. You mentioned stadiums that don't even have funding or renderings of what they're going to do. wow, great job
It’s only the south endzone at Nebraska that is getting major work. The structure of the rest of the stadium will stay the same. East and west stadium will get new seats. The only possible change for the north end zone, where the screen is. is they may add in extra concession facilities to potentially sell alcohol. The actual seats will not change at all.
Illinois is also planning some smaller-scale, quality of life things akin to the Colorado changes. New video board, sound system, and LED lighting are the big 3 that are planned over the next 5 years I believe, plus loads of smaller things like better wifi, concourse amenities, etc. No direct timeline tho to my knowledge.
I know Illinois was supposed to redo the south end zone but it got halted due too lack of funding and renovations going towards other athletic facilities
Kentucky is doing another 7mil renovation this off-season. They just did a couple of major renovations so this one isn't much. I think its all video board and lighting
On the FCS level Rhode Island will be starting a $42 million renovation of Meade Stadium this year. The east sideline stands that were built in 1978 are being torn down after this season starts. Sounds like we're going to need to play off campus in 2025, then it will be ready for the 2026 season. No renderings yet.
How much do you have pay for a roof on your stadiums in the good ole US of A. Well north of a billion dollars by the sounds of it. As clearly 400-500 million renovation gets you bit of exterior work and premium viewing area and if you are luvky seat upgrades and I thought construction was expensive in Europe.
Mizzou is doing a north endzone renovation. More seating in place of the hill. They won't get rid of the rock M. Larger scoreboard and better sound system.
The Beaver Stadium exterior renovation looks like a mega church. Imagine approaching State College and seeing that on the hill like you’re about to watch Joel Osteen.
Weird flex... 1) Europe has nothing comparable at the collegiate level. 2) Americans have been upgrading stadiums continuously for the past hundred years. 3) Of the thousands of stadiums in the US, of course there are always going to be several being updated or replaced.
Vanderbilt is a hopeless case, majority of fans attending are from the opposing team. I’ve attended a game there & wasn’t impressed. Only reason they stay in the SEC IS FOR THE $30-$40 million or so from the Conference each year.
It should be stated that the vast majority of college football stadium renovations will reduce their facility's seating capacity, not increase it. Nebraska is shrinking by 10k, FSU's Doak is shrinking by 15%, etc, etc. Why? They're having a tough time getting people to fill seats because the in-person experience is so horrible. The solution: shrink capacity and charge much higher prices to those willing to attend games.
It's about damn time. James Naismith actually invented basketball as a wintertime workout for football players and is credited with inventing the football helmet. The administration left him spinning in his grave for the last hundred years while they ignored a sport that he dearly loved.
Boise State should take the opportunity to replace the hideous blue artificial turf with green. No one likes the silly blue...not fans, not players and TV commentators even laugh about it. The novelty of the blue is now just ridiculous.
UCF football program is rising so fast I wouldn't be surprised they will become a football powerhouse in 5 years and their stadium will end up with 80k seats.

The Memphis redesign is sick 🔥
It looks like the futuristic stadium option when you rebrand your team in madden
What about doak campbell
No
@@DeuceIsLoosefacts
I disagreement. I think the Liberty Bowl stadium will look a lot better. Certainly not sick.

They’re trying to get that Big 12 invite and they honestly deserve it

Ole Miss released designs on Stadium renovations last year also as park of their Champions Now initiative. The first step was the Manning Center.
I’m from the UK and it’s mind blowing that college teams have massive stadiums. They are even bigger than most Premier League stadiums
I’ve noticed that . I’ve rebuilt smaller fifa clubs and their stadiums are small you should see American high school foootball stadiums down in Texas Oklahoma Alabama etc… they’re big as well !
You probably don't realize that most of these schools have like 20k+ students on top of thousands of alumni.
Because Americans play REAL football and draw serious fans...over 100,000 in some college venues.
Florida State renovating their stadium right now
I’m also a Seminoles fan but I gotta admit that our renovation is not that good due to how they are lowering our capacity
I know Kyle Field had renovations back in like 2014 but I hope it’s never torn down. If it ever is I will be there for the last game if possible

@@martin53088the most interesting part is rumors has it is they reuse materials from old stadiums to build new ones.

Walk by Texas Tech’s renovation every day, and it looks so nice
I really like what Air Force is planning on doing with their stadium. And I pretty sure Doak Campbell is getting an upgrade to the west side seating.
I can’t wait to see it, we go a lot and it’s a great atmosphere
Marshall is getting a $25M endzone makeover as well. expected to be completed by 2027
🤙 my home city

exactly…
Seven new upgrades to be exact.
Beaver Stadium right now is a high school stadium stacked on a high school stadium, and for good measure one more set of bleachers from another high school stadium. lol.
idk a lot of 33 thousand seater high school stadiums? more like a giant arena with bleachers, like most college stadiums…..
…and it’s beautiful in its simplicity… IMO
Capacity wasn’t the point. It originally had east and west stands. Then added endzone and started stacking. Exterior is unfinished steal beams and first level had a gravel floor like most of the countries high school stadiums.
Architectural 👍🏻 to Memphis and Kansas.
Architectural 👎🏻 Boise State, Vanderbilt, and Penn State.

Free shoes continues to be salty about everything.
USF (university of south Florida) has been cleared to make their own stadium and have released plans and will move out of the bucs one
Good I like Bosie’s stadium. They needed it.
$140M for the Cotton Bowl renovation? They better sell a LOT of Fletcher's Corn Dogs at the State Fair this year😏
Miami needs to build one and stop fucking around. They wonder why nobody comes to their games lol
Please keep the excellent Stadium Updates coming !!
Absolutely NOTHING is better than college football
The Cotton Bowl also host the State Fair Classic game which is between Prairie View A&M & Grambling.
closing off beaver stadium will make that stadium somehow louder
Sooner or later, the bleachers will be at the top of Mt Nittany.

Message E for Fresno State needs to pass by the California primary in order to on the ballot for November of this year.
Northwestern is doing a complete rebuild of Ryan Field. The renderings are stunning.

SNUBBED!
I know Illinois was supposed to redo the south end zone but it got halted due too lack of funding and renovations going towards other athletic facilities
PSU Beaver Stadium inside is getting new seats. It's not just the exterior. Capacity will go down to a bit.
Kentucky is doing another 7mil renovation this off-season. They just did a couple of major renovations so this one isn't much. I think its all video board and lighting
Research! Nothing in Memphis will be held up

What about NMSU. They are getting a new locker room and might get a new press box.
The University of Wyoming has a pretty cool one coming too, check it out!
Is Kansas gonna be a “both” school soon? Basketball AND football?
It's about damn time. James Naismith actually invented basketball as a wintertime workout for football players and is credited with inventing the football helmet. The administration left him spinning in his grave for the last hundred years while they ignored a sport that he dearly loved.
How can you leave out Ole miss
Marshall University getting a makeover too…
0:43 incorrect as sad as it is, only the north end zone will be finished for the 2024 season, 2025 est for the south endzone

Vanderbilt will have only one end zone finished for 2024. The south end zone will be finished in 2025.
West Point is pronounced MIKE-ee Stadium!
Yeah? Never have heard it pronounced that way.
The Boise State University football field looks 🔥
#HowExpensivelyPresentable!
I'm so disappointed you're not a fan of the Memphis Liberty Stadium. It's going to be beautiful imo. Also my wife and son are Gingers. Shame on you. 😊
And jut who is paying for all this?
In most cases, the tax payers.
Boise state in playoffs next year
It will happen go blue
lot of wasted money
Boise needs escalators to the upper deck. Stands are steep.
