I started feeding a feral cat about 4 months ago. Each day gaining trust. I really looked forward to seeing it everyday. I woke up one morning and went to feed the cat, it was a female and she brought her kittens with her. It was so awesome. I’ve always loved cats.
Almost seventeen years ago I fed a feral pregnant mother, along with the folks across the alley helping too. She had her kittens in the back yard on the night of April 30th, and I moved them onto a nest I arranged on my back porch. One of those kittens is in my living room with me as I type this.
A lot of people don't know that cats have facial expressions. They are subtle and you only really see them if you know what to look for, but this momma cat was worried. She was hesitant to care for the kittens, I suspect because she was worried about their real mother. Her mother instincts were screaming at her when the poor things meaoed and she gave in. She wanted to from the beginning but hesitated. I think the lady in the video's encouragement might have helped her decide.
She likely was worried that the orphaned kittens' mama would come and chase her off. My old lady reacted the same way when I introduced her to a 3-week-old foster. She looked around very cautiously and only after she felt assured a defensive mama cat wasn't a possibility, she cuddled and cleaned the kitten. (She can't nurse but she's very motherly.)
Yea, I used to have a cat named Georgie, and whenever I held him, or if he was really relaxed he would have his eyes closed, and you could see he was smiling. He was the sweetest cat and I love him And I hope hs is happy in his new home I love you Georgie and I miss you I hope I can see you again😭😭❤❤❤
4 years ago I found 3 very small kittens, I guess they were 3 days old because they had not opened their eyes yet. I remember taking them to my house and I put them in a box with a thermal blanket because they needed to be warm, at first I did not know what to do so I ran to the vet and he gave me a small bottle with a special milk, so I had to feed them. It was a very exhausting task because they were so small that I had to feed them every 2-3 hours and also clean them. I lost many hours of sleep doing that, but the best part is that they are okay now and they are part of my family
It happened to me too, 7 years ago. In a cold day, a kitten was found on the field next to my house, mama cat was found Dead (and she was one of my cats) we knew that this kitten was one or two days old, and he spent alone the night with a bad weather, he was so cold and he was crying so loud.I decided to make an attempt and I kept him, I fed him with soluble milk (I asked to a pharmacist, but he wasn't a smart person I guess ) and I did the same thing you did: a lot of feeding, warming, cleaning, but now I think the problems were that he didn't peed enough and of course the wrong milk. He died on his 8th day, the day before the school trip. I called him Lucky, but he wasn't lucky enough. (sorry if I did some mistakes, English isn't my native language)
Every time she looks at the camara I can only think she is saying "Where did you find them?" "Do you want me to help?" "Where's their mom?" "Would she be okay with me looking after her babies?"
Daniel, I if your ever feeling down in the dumps, just remember videos like this, and if you can be with a real pet and family or friends, that would be great! I hope you are feeling happy today

just to add something: Just like dogs have a strong parenting sense, so does cats... but only if the kittens have the same smell that theirs So yeah, putting the orphan kitties in the same litter DOES help. Even on the streets, if your lucky enough to get near to a street cats' den you can see that while male cats hunt for food the females are usually the ones to eat first and then feed the kittens, and even the grown-up males, depending on how much food is avaible. Also the female cats gather their offspring on one place, and they gather around the kitten clowder when they need to feed, feeding any kitten who are near, not only their own offspring
RUclips Google e Facebook vaffanculo - she mentioned “poor sick kitty” when the one sneezed. I think maybe keeping them separate was an effort to prevent the spreading of illness? This reminds me of one I saw at the shelter I work for, they had a mumma cat come in and she lost her entire litter, another mumma came in with her litter and she couldn’t handle all of them, so they decided to see wether or not the other mum would take 3 of them and she did 😭😍

About 8 yrs ago, my friends and I rescued these two abandoned kittens and when we took them to my roommate's cat, she ended up making a separate nest for them and went back and forth between her older kittens and her news ones.

Animals really need more ppl to go vegan so billions stop getting slaughtered each year, because we can get everything we need from plants. So it’s unnecessary.
Couple of years ago my aunt found 4 baby kittens, not even a day old at her work. They were abandoned, their eyes closed and umbilical cords still attached. She brought them home, fed them and kept them safe. Sadly, one did not survive. The three that did, Pip, Sunshine and Jazz, are the most loving and down right adorable cats.
I adopted a kitten about a year ago and Boki is just wonderful. But after years of loving Abyssinians, a friend persuaded to begin going to the SF SPCA. After my last Aby, Channing, transitioned...,I decided to adopt Boki. Then I wanted to give an adult female cat a home as well. So there I saw Reina, a 8-9 senior with arthritis and thyroid issues who had been re-homed twice. Reina fits perfectly in our hearts and has also began mothering Boki....teaching him how to be a great cat!!! She’s patient as he enters his “terrible 2s playful stage”. And even more of a blessings, her ailments have seemingly subsided.
Yeah, kittens can have stepmamas (dogs have had kitten "stepchildren" as well and some mama cats have stepped up for orphaned puppies). It doesn't always work, but if you have a nursing cat and orphaned kittens, at least some mama cats will basically be "whatever, so I have a couple more now" and clearly this one was up for the challenge.
More often than not, a nursing mother cat will adopt any small mammals placed in her path. I’ve heard several stories of mother cats adopting not only orphaned kittens and puppies, but rabbits, squirrels, red pandas, even baby skunks.
Dr. Invader;} we have a Tabby cat Who has never been a mama.... and and we just brought a Persian eight week old baby home..... our tabby cat has become the stepmom who nurses our Persian Kitten even though she doesn’t have any milk she still lets the little ones suck her nipples
Reminds me of my old cat Koko and her kitten Squishy. They both ended up having a litter within the same week and one day they were just sitting across from each other feeding their respective litters and then they just suddenly got up, and switched places. Koko was feeding her grandbabies and Squishy was feeding her younger siblings. It was absolutely precious
I had the same experience with my cats, Uchi and Neru were mother and daughter and they ended up delivering on the same day. It was Neru's first time and she wasn't comfortable feeding her kittens so Uchi picked Neru's kitten and put them with her and ended up feeding all of them by herself 😅 Strangely, they always deliver on the same day many times so Neru never really learned how to feed her kids by herself 😅😅 such a mom's girl
In a group of rats , the females will care for the babies together, an aunt for example will nurse her sisters babies and pull them back into the nest to keep them warm , if momma isn't watching or is having a break to feed herself. That's completely normal if the group is well balanced.
@enchanted oracle I was pointing out a concern that many cat lovers have. That's not a lack of decorum. It's a legitimate concern. There are too many cats who end up without homes and with a bad quality of life on the streets or in shelters.
It's beautiful when a Mama kitty takes on orphaned kitties. Bless this Mama who is feeding two litters, her babies and the two orhans. Bless this caretaker. She is so kind and loving!
This makes my heart so full. Cats and dogs dont get enough credit for how much compassion and genuine love they show. They feel more than most humans I know!
This is because female cats frequently drop their kittens off for playdates and babysitting with a trusted female while they hunt, use the great outdoors litter box, or have some me-time. There's always at least one in a feral colony who's everyone's Mom, and I think it's adorable.
She looks JUST like my sister's cat, right down to the beautiful golden eyes! I actually thought it was her for a second! She was also a nursing momma in foster care before my sister adopted her. She's SOOOO sweet and her maternal instincts are still there even a year after giving birth, so I totally believe she would have been a foster momma for some orphaned kittens if she needed to be.
8 years ago we started caring for a pregnant cat, Charcoal. She had 5 babies. A few days later another cat had a litter she couldn't care for. Mama Charcoal took those 4 babies too. All 9 kittens lived, we adopted the orange one, Pumpkin. You'd never know they weren't blood relatives by the way they act. All are fixed now too.

I had to step away & surround myself with happy-ending stories for a while to remind myself that for every pos jerk out there, there are probably 5 more people who would go above & beyond & do anything to help an animal in need. We hear more about the negative stories, but there are so many more small acts of kindness that we'll never hear about if we don't search them out (Wholesome on Reddit is a good example, along with The Dodo). I'm still an animal advocate, but now I balance out the 'rescue & recovery' aspect with the 'happily ever after' adoption stories. 😊 You're absolutely right; most people are absolutely not serial killers! ❤
Mama IS the sweetest. Those kittens didn't smell like her, they were completely foriegn to her ... and then one cried and that look she gave ... oh my goodness! It was like, "Can I? Please? Can I help them?" Soooo stinkin' precious!!
The love and emotion from that woman, and the love of that momma cat speak volumes about the strength and dedication of mothers everywhere. We are different in our genders; men are protectors, women are nurturers. Together, we are all we can be; a family. Our strength is in our combined differences. Together, we are strong. God bless the babies, and the parents who raise them; they are the future.
Yep. We are VERY grateful for our nursing mamas at the shelter who are willing to take on foster babies. Right now, its kitten season, so we need all hands on deck. If you wanna help out, please adopt, foster, or even drop off kitten supplies at your local shelter, especially things like pellet-style litter (perfect for TINY kittens and kitties that have just had surgery). Every bit of help we can get is a blessing.
This reminds me of my cats when I was little. Had a lot of barn cats who always had their kittens on the back porch, but rather then taking a box of their own (since we decided to set them up after the first litter happened) the moms would share boxes and sometimes there would be two to three moms in a box at one time. It was so funny but the kittens always grew up friendly and sweet towards one another. Couldn’t walk outside without being swarmed by a bunch of babies chasing the shoelaces and if you sat down they’d climb all over your lap and push your hand for love. Sweetest cats in the whole world. I miss them so much.
I had a similar incident except moms kitty had 5 kittens and another 6 kittens were orphaned so I let mama check the new ones out and she grabbed one and took it to her nest and she ended up nursing 11 kittens, it was so touching how she just took them on.
bruh 279 people can't tell the difference between orphaned and adopted. we are fucked. but yeah I'm so grateful Alfred orphaned Bruce Wayne LMAO (plot twist ?)
Sooo ... touching !!! Both ... the person taking cared of the kittens and ... The ... Mama Cat ..! Very generous and welcoming to a strayed kittens !!!
OMG she was so smart to keep them is separate rooms. If she brought the new babies where Mama's babies were she would have rejected them. What a loving Mama...even loving up another Mama's babies! 💗🙏🌺
We had two nursing mothers once - the litters were 2 wks apart, but once the 2nd momma gave birth they stole we others kittens. It was sweet to see mixed age kittens peaceably nursing together. ❤
One of my cats, Pingu, and her daughter, Toothless, got pregnant at the same time. Toothless was only 4-5 months old when she got pregnant, only one of her babies made it, and she was premature. Pingu had a normal delivery, I was there for the whole ordeal. She came to me and meowed in a way that said, “They’re coming.” When the kittens were 2-3 days old, I found them in a box under my desk, with the cats. I thought it was sweet that Toothless was helping her mum out with feeding the babies. Not to mention hormones. Unfortunately Toothless has since passed, but her daughter Sally is alive and well, as are the other kittens. (Who are 8 months old now.) Pingu has had one more litter and we kept them too. ♥️

Animals really need more ppl to go vegan so billions stop getting slaughtered each year, because we can get everything we need from plants. So it’s unnecessary.
Judy Charife it inspires me as well, this is the BEST CHANNEL EVER
*The expression in a mother cat's eyes is incredibly endearing. They radiate trust and affection, melting my heart completely.*
Big mommy, little angels *.*
Daniela Teixeira I agree! they are little angels here on earth ready for good health!
Wow I did not think kittens can have step mothers.
@@glamourchick21 one of them even adopted ducks. I'm not joking. I can look up on it. It happened in Ireland :)
Dr. Invader;} we have a Tabby cat Who has never been a mama.... and and we just brought a Persian eight week old baby home..... our tabby cat has become the stepmom who nurses our Persian Kitten even though she doesn’t have any milk she still lets the little ones suck her nipples
also stepgrandmothers work too
She really is the best cat
Mamma kitty is a keeper!!!! She has the best attitude and is so loving. What a wonderful kitty to these orphans.
Mom gonna remain always mom... whatever she is cat , human beings or something else💗💞👼🐈🐈🐈
Eugenary Smells
That sounds so sweet, but what do you end up doing with all the kittens?
That's nice but...there are already too many cats without homes...why don't you fix your cats?!
It is common for a nursing cat to adopt kittens...in selters they often give orphan kitten to mom cats so that they adopt them
This is because female cats frequently drop their kittens off for playdates and babysitting with a trusted female while they hunt, use the great outdoors litter box, or have some me-time.
There's always at least one in a feral colony who's everyone's Mom, and I think it's adorable.
@@cassandrabelyeu2419 I just think it's funny when animals employ babysitters the same way we do.
most of the time they really don't especially when they are about the same age as these kittens are, sometimes they will kill the kittens
.
This just proves that family is more than blood.
YES
I cried when the mother cat put her face on the baby kittens😍😍
Cried? That's a lil much don't ya think? Lol

Motherhood is incredible no matter what species
My great-grandma once had a cat that would take care of all the orphaned kittens on her property. She was that motherly.
That's nice to hear. My best bud had a similar cat too!
A mom will be a mom no matter what ❤️
8 years ago we started caring for a pregnant cat, Charcoal. She had 5 babies. A few days later another cat had a litter she couldn't care for. Mama Charcoal took those 4 babies too. All 9 kittens lived, we adopted the orange one, Pumpkin. You'd never know they weren't blood relatives by the way they act. All are fixed now too.
Honestly whenever I'm sad I go to The Dodo, cures my sadness. I suffer from severe OCD and bipolar II. It snaps me back into my normal self ♥️
C Martin Glad you found something that can keep you grounded. It’s not easy living with those conditions. I pray you stay as well as you can.
Thank you! I appreciate your comments!

The Dodo gives me faith in humanity again when I see their videos. A reminder the majority of people are absolutely not serial killers.
@@gkhumphries; You are so right!
I'm a L&D/Pediatrics Nurse & my 26yo Daughter is a Lic. Vet. Tech. (Veterinary Nurse). I used to be very active as an animal advocate, but I ended up very depressed b/c of it.
You're absolutely right; most people are absolutely not serial killers!

Mama cat: Well they smell like kittens but these ones look strange. Oh well time to open the buffet. Come on you little furballs it's dinner time.
Southern Deplorable haha Exactly..
Southern Deplorable Lol I can actually see that happening in a small skit! funny!
:baby cats nom nom nom
Yeah, basically, because they were of a different breed to her, so it would understandable if they misunderstood.
Southern Deplorable exactly 😅
I don't know if there's a heaven but if there is, it would be exactly this! Ambushed by sweet kittens with wonderful mum cats
This is so sweet I hope those little kittens live a happy life with their loving mum
Raziella Tee they will have a lovely life indeed with good health and care! they will be taken care of!
I had a similar incident except moms kitty had 5 kittens and another 6 kittens were orphaned so I let mama check the new ones out and she grabbed one and took it to her nest and she ended up nursing 11 kittens, it was so touching how she just took them on.
Damn 11 that's a good load. What a soldier XD
What a sweet and beautiful mama, I'm so happy
This is so warm
Thank you

The lady in the video is so special! Thank you for your kindness and care towards these kitties. Also that mamma cat is the best. 🐱🐈

prwebkinz04 she orphaned this kitten? Really? xD Wtf Do you even knows what this word means idiot?
prwebkinz04 seriously?? If this cat "orphaned" the kittens then that means she killed their mom and turned them into orphans!!
+wanrazul The cat is orphaning the kittens the girl has to adopt the kittens.
bruh 279 people can't tell the difference between orphaned and adopted. we are fucked. but yeah I'm so grateful Alfred orphaned Bruce Wayne LMAO (plot twist ?)

OMG she was so smart to keep them is separate rooms. If she brought the new babies where Mama's babies were she would have rejected them. What a loving Mama...even loving up another Mama's babies! 💗🙏🌺
Wow!!! What a great cat, she is a hero! Love her, thank you mama. Teach us love, teach us kindness and how to accept each other. ❤️💋

CelestialSummer -Hello Everyone very heartwarming indeed!
We had two nursing mothers once - the litters were 2 wks apart, but once the 2nd momma gave birth they stole we others kittens. It was sweet to see mixed age kittens peaceably nursing together. ❤
Cats are THE BEST creatures on this planet. And the people that help take care of them like this amazing lady right here are THE BEST too.
Oo lovely 💞. My cat also feeds two stray kitties that we found.
Mama cat needs to be featured again in her own video for the kind queen she is ❤️
I love how encouraging the lady was to the cat. Its like she understood everything that was said
So sweet that Momma cat accepted these beautiful kittens!
My favorite thing about baby kittens is that they can actually be bursting with energy yet still look like they're about to fall asleep
Mama cat is beautiful. I want her. ❤️
her eyes are so big! lol
