Great post. So around a 30% AVG increase for 70+% more cost. Insane. Considering that I lucked up on an entire 4080 rig for less than the cost of a 4090 during Black Friday, I think I made the right decision. All my games are smooth as butter at 4k Ultra. Only game I wish I had more power in is MSFS VR.
From the 4080 to the 4090 there is an increase of more than 66% in price and a 21% increase in performance in the general average in the games mentioned!
Cs 2 example in 4k 60 fps more vs 4080. Depends on game .. Those games are console games.. U need to try something else FPS GAMES.. there u can see 4080 goes nowhere vs 4090.
i kinda disagree. thats only from a transactional standpoint. Id argue theres no other card that will give you 4090 results therefor its not JUST a 30% upgrade its an upgrade thats elsewhere unattainable
@@NoahFogg16 How is it only from a transactional standpoint when performance percentages are also clear? For the majority of commodities on the market, when you pay double you get double (or more), and that's a deal. If 4090 was only 25% more expensive, it would be a no-brainer for most people.
@@-Burs I mean, I agree with you, but you also said the majority. Graphics cards are a very targeted and controlled market. There is not many choices. I’m not saying I prefer they stay this price. I’m just saying there’s nothing else that can compete with so there’s nothing to compare the price to. Besides it being double the price and not being double the power.
This looks like 2 cards from different generations. No contest. If you are into VR sim racing the 4090 is a must. I tried both cards, the 4090 is another level.
Why do you even want a 4080 or 4090 for 1440p gaming? That would be an enormous waste of money. Go for the 4070 ti or 7900xt, those are more than enough for high settings 1440 gameplay. Or wait for the 4070 ti Super's launch in January. Because that will have 16 GB VRAM and will be far better for 1440p gaming. But seriously? Even 4070 is fine for 1440p gaming. Don't overspend.
@@kirbyatethanos still think it's overkill for 1440p. I mean, you can play 1440p high settings 60 fps even on 4060 laptops. On 4070 that becomes 80-90 fps. Already on the 4070 ti you get over 110 fps on average on 1440p high settings. Of course if you have money to burn, then get the 4080. But personally, 4080 should be treated as a 4k GPU, not for 1440p gaming. Overkill.
@@mihirojha4475 You debunked your own point, 110 fps is not enough for 144/165Hz monitors, running anything below the monitors native fps introduces screen tearing, I would feel bad buying a nearly $1k 4070ti and not even be able to use my monitor to its full potential and having to cut corners right from the start.
@@GRT-Versley I mean 99% of monitors these days come with Nvidia G-Sync or AMD FreeSync.... so your point is moot. Hello good day, I want to put a 4080 on my 7800g, I would like to know if it is a good combination and I won't have a bottleneck in 2k and 4k, what do you think, is it a good option?
Well this card is made for professional use cases like 3d apps and AI. Your scene may crash in 4080 cause it's out of vram but not in 4090 as it has 24gb of vram. And the render in 4080 would take 3 hours if it's out of vram and uses your ram as vram. And the same thing could be rendered in less than 45mins - 1 hour in the 4090. Now this is for just 1 frame let's say. Imagine a full 30 fps for 1-2 min animation Now calculate how much time it's gonna save you. So there are other advantages of the 4090 as well which you get with it considering the price. If you are just a gamer then there is no need for this card. But if you are heavy gamer who wants the best fps possible then this is the card for you.
Numbers still seem consistent with before. 4090 is on average a 30% increase for a 45% increase in price (assuming 1100usd and 1600usd). Even if price to performance is technically not worth it, for a flagship that is pretty insane. The proposition is very good if you can afford it at 1600usd.
4090 FE's sell for $2200+fees so $2500 basically so it's $1200 4080 with fees or $2500 4090 these days. :/ let's just wait for AMD 8000 or Intel battlemadge
I was about to say this too. I did find a pny 4090 at Best Buy today for 1800. That’s the best I’ve seen on a new card from a reputable vendor. After my experience with my XFX 7900xtx, AMD is not an option for me again, ever. I’ll pay MSRP on a 4090, but not more. So we wait. @@lukep4714

For those who have a 4090 does the GPU faulty connector scare you? Because I don't have one but the thought of an investment just getting burnt scares me.
8 months so far, no issues. Theres a new cable called 12V-2x6 which is the successor to 12VHPWR that’s supposedly safer by improving the connection. It’s backwards compatible and can fit the 4090 and any other GPU using the 12 pin connector

I'm not even using factory supplied Adapter, I'm using the modular one that came with my 1300 watt psu I didn't like have extra connections in the middle, the one single cable seems better in my opinion.
most of the burn happened because of user error by not connecting the cable correctly etc also you can buy the angle adapter from cablemod to make it even safer with no bend at all also newer psu come with even safer cable you don't even have to use the 3 wire adapter or angle adapter anymore etc so your risk of burn are very low but dont buy a 4090 now, zen5 cpu are being released this autumn/winter in less than 6-8 months from now with the 5090 big big chance at the end of the year etc amd releasing gpu too so just wait big deals are coming
In the UK the average price for the 4090 is £2200 and the 4080 is £1200 "AIB`s". Giving the max frame difference is say 30fps more with the 4090 & another 8gb of vram over the 4080 in the games tested. The question is, Is it worth it for the extra £1000.....
If you are a hardcore gamer playing on 1440p or 4K, who cannot game on lower fps, want every advantage possible and doesn't want to settle for less? Absolutely, 4090 is worth it. Actually the only worthwhile card from 4000 series. I wouldn't buy anything less than 4090.

I love 4080. Not only its good 4K card but even great power efficiency. I hate how 4090 price went from 1600 to 2000 and above, idk why nvidia did this, its so stupid. Who would spend 2000$ for a gpu? Would rather build gaming pc with that. 4090 even consumes very high power in many games, like it goes above 400W even. And not to mention its connectors melting. I gonna wait for rtx 50 series, hopefully there will be a gpu like 5070 ti or 5080 which will have performance of 4090 but better pricing and power efficiency.
Value went up for the 4090 because a lot of people and businesses want to buy it for AI development, simple supply vs demand economics here. I have had my 4090 for almost a year and not melting issue, but I undervolted mine. The 4090 is a gaming/working gpu, and the 4080 is plenty enough if you are just gaming.
@@H3li0_ I honestly don't like dlss 3 the frame generation. Its fake frames and if you don't get 60 fps by default, its useless to use cuz for example if your default fps is 30 and frame generation increases to 60 and above, game will still feel like 30 fps.
No they didn't do that to have more room for a 4080 Ti... I was thinking that but instead it's to save AD102 chips for AI and more 4090 and they're selling like hot cakes.
@@heyflo1 To be honest the gap is large because the 4090 is exceptionally fast, in fact it's way faster than what it should've been and the only reason for that is because AMD came dangerously close to beating NVIDIA last gen, so NVIDIA made sure that AMD will not even come close. That's why they made the 4090 very powerful.
The most fun part is the game's optimization. Top tier card for 2k and you cannot sustain a stable 60fps at some games.... The settings are not a factor here. We are dealing with top notch hardware. You would expect from a 4090 to run each game perfectly with decent fps and not struggling.
They have reached the limit , thats the reason the main focus nowdays is DLSS/FSR FG. I cannot imagine a GPU reaching 500-600 watts and be way more bigger than the current ones.
It all depends on the optimization and if you are not getting the frames you want go from ultra to high settings or from native 4k to native 1440p fir the resolution or you can use dlss or fsr.
@@AkaKal-h4h I am interested in what you predict 50 series to look like, would they be super power hungry or maybe nvidia comes up with some new fancy tech?
@@viking9442 More from the same and probably a little boost over the core count. It is getting like the phones these days. They are throwing models like mad each ear with little to no major improvements at all. Only some cosmetic changes. If you look at the s23 Ultra and the s24 ultra, you are getting mainly some AI generated stuff on the phone to make it more appealing with some slight design change. But overall the performance is not so significantly improved, neither the camera for instance. So indeed they seems exhausted. We've saw how huge was the jump from the 2xxx to the 3xxx , and the minor/average jump from 3xxx to 4xxx series. Same goes for AMD. But in general my point stays. You would expect from last gen card to be fully capable of supporting the new upcoming titles. To me, the discussion about which is better based on performance seems completely absurd. Rather, we have to ask ourselves, what can we maximally perceive with our senses? This is exactly how people absurdly buy a super sports car with 1000 hp and then they are allowed to drive a maximum of 130 km/h or 70 mph. But it is also clear to me that retailers have to manipulate people into thinking they always need the latest and greatest graphics card. And don't forget people who put videos on RUclips and count their clicks.
@@Ciffer-1998 Yes, exactly. We are not limited in PC hardware, except what is technically possible, but our perception is limited. Just an example, the human eye can perceive 14 to 16 frames per second, so how can the eye determine whether a game is running at 100 or 120 FPS?
You know people can buy a 1,000 hp supercar or tune a car up to 1,000 hp? They will most likely drive it way past 70 mph multiple times throughout the time they own that car whether it is on the freeway or a drag strip etc. Then when it comes to tech people will buy what they want the higher end you go the less you have to worry about when it comes to gaming because you can choose whatever settings and resolution you want to play for any game.

Just bought a 4080 for 1000 brand new. Can't find a 4090 for under 2000 currently some even close to 3000. Almost double the price(which is equally high) for at best 30%.
I haven't watched the video yet but I would assume this is at max settings. The 4090 is the best you can buy and if some of the games tested are unreal 5 games then that is also something to consider because those games will push graphics more and more over time. You could also turn the settings down and turn off ray tracing and or turn on dlss or fsr.
I feel like new triple A games are 2K(1440P) nowadays, if that's the case, why bother releasing these cards in the first place?, RTX 3000 series can do that too but more power consumption, it's good to see power efficiency on RTX 4000 series card but slightly boost on performance from their RTX 3000 counter parts, or I could be wrong 😅 Happy Holiday everyone
I hope the 50 series isn’t just RTX 4060 Ti across the line up with more compromises and fake frames. Or something like “Revolutionarily thin!” after stuffing 3-4 slot behemoths into our collective a****.

The 4090 is linearly 2x faster at 8k, 40% faster in average at 4k it was worth it for me, the 4080 was closer to the 3090ti as compared to the 4090 it was disappointing
They have slowed production on the 4090 massively with the China export bans , so prices have crept up from £1600 to nearer £1900 in the UK at least. I'm waiting for the 4080 Super to come up and hopefully reset prices nearer to £1000 , similar to the 7900xtx
The poor man's 4090 aka 4080 Super, if according to rumors is going to be $999 will definitely save the day compared to this overpriced $1199 inferior 4080 !
4080 SUPER will be 5% faster because the only change it's gonna have is that it'll have the fully unlocked AD103. Also $999 is still a terrible price for an 80 class card that only looks good because the 4080's original price is even more terrible. 4070 Ti SUPER will be a much better deal. 8-10% slower than a 4080, $799 and 16 GB VRAM.

Hi, is it possible to do one comparing 4080 vs 4090 at 1440p
Why do you even want a 4080 or 4090 for 1440p gaming? That would be an enormous waste of money. Go for the 4070 ti or 7900xt, those are more than enough for high settings 1440 gameplay. Or wait for the 4070 ti Super's launch in January. Because that will have 16 GB VRAM and will be far better for 1440p gaming. But seriously? Even 4070 is fine for 1440p gaming. Don't overspend.
@@mihirojha4475I disagree. A 4080 with a 1440p 144hz/240hz is a good combo.
And you're not gonna see 144 fps at 4k even on the 4090 95% of the time, at 1440p, definitely yes you can. But again, its your money, do whatever with it. I just can't digest spending like USD 1200 or more on JUST a GPU. That is absurd. No matter what, if my use isn't professional and just for gaming, then I am happy enough with the 4070 ti (which isn't cheap either but the GPU market is a hellscape right now)m

Imagine a full 30 fps for 1-2 min animation
Now calculate how much time it's gonna save you.

This is exactly how people absurdly buy a super sports car with 1000 hp and then they are allowed to drive a maximum of 130 km/h or 70 mph. And don't forget people who put videos on RUclips and count their clicks.
Thats such a bad comparison, as there are no such limits in pc hardware

Not impressed by the 40 series. This should be the performance of the 3080 vs 3090.
It's mad that Nvidia charge so much for a 4090. For that monoy I would of thought it would of done alot beter than it did.
They have slowed production on the 4090 massively with the China export bans , so prices have crept up from £1600 to nearer £1900 in the UK at least.
I'm waiting for the 4080 Super to come up and hopefully reset prices nearer to £1000 , similar to the 7900xtx
This is the best of the best I dont know what more you want.
@@MrAnimescrazyhe wants more performance than the current best of the best obviously
@@mitsuhh well he wont get it until either the 5080 or 5090 or the amd equivalent or near equivalent come out so that will be for a few more years.
The poor man's 4090 aka 4080 Super, if according to rumors is going to be $999 will definitely save the day compared to this overpriced $1199 inferior 4080 !
In dreams bro... 4080 will be 999 and super more than thay
@@bhaveshsonar7558 all leaks says 4080 super is 1000 and 4080 will be 900$
4080 super will only be 5 fps at max
4080 SUPER will be 5% faster because the only change it's gonna have is that it'll have the fully unlocked AD103.
Also $999 is still a terrible price for an 80 class card that only looks good because the 4080's original price is even more terrible.
4070 Ti SUPER will be a much better deal. 8-10% slower than a 4080, $799 and 16 GB VRAM.
Just remember 3D work need 24gb++ of vram but gaming 16gb is enough
In Germany is 2.5k a grafic card … you can’t buy a top grafic card lower as 2.3-2.4k , is to expensive! In next year all gamers buy rx Because is half price ! Nvidia now have a concurrent…
shame that an RTX 4090 goes for $2,200 to $2,500 here
Remnant 2 is truly a SHAME ! Wtf those fps With a 4090 ??!
No wonder they're releasing another 4080 variant, that gap in performance is pretty damn big
Fun Fact.
wer sich alle 3 Jahre eine neue Grafikkarte kauft für 1000 Eier, der könnte auch ein Abo für knapp 30€ im Monat für 3 Jahre abschließen nur für das Zocken.
"New games" -> Cyberpunk 2077
Is it 1920x1080?
1440p
No its 4k @@noztk1
Imagine the 4080 if it would have a 450w power limit.
4080 Zotac Air Extreme has power limit to 450 watts.
U would gain 10% max if ure lucky, most of the power is gonna transform into heat.
@@ctsperformance1755 you could get the gpu clock to 3-3.5 ghz easily on 450w.
@@hardcoregamningchannel u still wouldnt gain more than 10% imho and the amount of heat produced could only be cooled with water cooling. Then youd have crashes too. So no not a great idea.
@@ctsperformance1755 it has the exact same cooling system as the 4090,im talking about the FE series. If the 4090 can handle 450w so could the 4080.
For around 60-100W more, you get 15-30 more FPS, that about sums it up :)
I will wait for the 4070-Ti Super for my own 3440x1440 gaming :)
4070ti A terrible video card in itself, and with a new name that also sounds funny, it clearly won’t be worth the money
I can tell that my RTX 4090 works perfectly for high refreshrate gaming on an ultrawide screen.
My RTX 3080 was too weak and had not enough vram even to push games at medium/high settings.
Please share your experience when playing at this resolution!
25% more performance
33% more VRAM
200% more money.
4090 = equals ripoff right now.
This is without dlss?
DLSS is off except for Alan Wake 2.
i have more fps... I use DLSS quality frame gen it rules. 4090 Asus ROG STRIX oc 1440p it owns i have 240 fps competitive game with raytracing.. BF 2042 230 - 250 fps average RT on, The finals 310 fps RT on average. cs 2 550 average On ultra settings max. I have so much fun... Even Doom Eternal RT on. rules high fps and so nice raytracing graphic. Cyberpunk 170 fps 1440p pathtracing max settings psycho... There is no game that i have fun.
Damn what are your specs?
There is no game that you have fun in?
With 800 dollars difference, you can probably go sli and get more performance.
You could if the 4080 would run SLI and if games still supported SLI.
I loved SLI but it's dead.
Most people screwed it up anyway by trying to SLI two lower end cards. The best thing to do was go with the most expensive singe card the buyer could afford, then buy a 2nd card when the next gen came out.
Ad dlss 3.0 and 4080 is over 80fps in all games which is enough for those games. If the 5080 surpasses the 4090 like 4080 did with 3090 (ti) than the value lossnwill be thremendous logik and not math (+30% wont mean anything in 2025 when next series will be Launched)
In my country most 4090 cost less than 1900 dollars and the cheapest one can go as low as sub-1600.
Where do you live i cant find such prices here
@@GFE. Switzerland
@@EarthIsFlat456 nice middle east was good until oct somehow everything went up 4090 is still 1800-2200$
@@EarthIsFlat456It's an incredible price, the cheapest 4090 here in Brazil are around 2500$ and the most expensive 3500$
Just in time for 4080 Super
where????
I go with 4060 instead these 2 are wayyyyyy too expensive geez
Wanna know how much faster the 4080 Super will be???? Yeah?
Just add 5% to the 4080's results.
That is rumors.
these prices are insane. they cost no where near what nvidia sells them for. nvidia saw people spending thousands on even a 3070ti and they wanted in on it out of greed. that 4080 should be a max of 800 and no more. that 4090 is no more than 1200.
CS 2 ???
do 4060 vs 4070 vs 4080 vs 4090
in new games
%30 slower than rtx 4080
And now we know how bad optimise is Remnant 2 : ))
not spending that much money on a card who cant handle it without dlss… it is overpriced as hell, the more you guys buy it the more next card will cost… i stick to 4080 cause if 4090 melts and weights the same id better save money for repairs neither risk all in for a 4 kg card
4080 is a good card $800 card no wait...
AMD 7900XTX vs NVIDIA RTX 4090 = 20% more performance for a 90% higher price LOL
you mean 4080 vs 4070?
In my country 4080 is $2.3k and 4090 is $3.8k 😐
