it's nice that he can look at what's primarily junk and see value in it, and make a living doing so

That Avia is actually not running, you're just shaking the balance wheel. It needs a cleaning and from your description possibly a new mainspring.

The Timex you said was from the 60s is actually from the late 50s. Even cooler.

Love the led watches, I have a newer one but would love one from the 70s. Saw the movement for one in a joblot last week but couldnt stretch to the price and didnt really want any of the other items.

These Swiss gold watches weren’t usually marked with the makers name as they were usually just supplied to the manufacturer of the case so the manufacturer of the case could sell it as a watch

You need to investigate that watch more take to a jeweler to identify what brand it is!!! When you opened it up I was surprised it was mechanical and not battery operated. It looked like it was put together well.

True, a lot of jewellers charge for that service. And charge huge fees. I’m trying to find a good jeweller

It’s too bad about the 18k watch ,it could be fixed but but it’s probably worth more as scrap unfortunately, if it were my watch tho I would try and fix it. , I like the look of Hamilton parts watch

Thanks there was just too much wrong with the watch to try and fix it. Also it looks like someone messed with it because tons of screws were missing on the inside

I'm confused not being a Canadian or American but do you pax sales tax on second hand pre-owned items . The confusion is was not the tax payed when the item was sold new ,so the tax was paid ,so how can there be tax on the same item again. Can someone explain this or am just mistaken.

@@vintagesterlingfinds I got my omega pocket watch running good now, I used Brake cleaner to flush out any debris, then I sprayed the movement with Kroil, Let the movement soak it up for a bit, then gave another quick squirt of brake cleaner to flush out some of the Kroil , but not too much brake cleaner at the end because I wanted it to still have some Kroil for lubrication left on the movement, it’s definitely not the proper way , but the watch is working great now.
