Jim, your videos give me a great deal of pleasure, the soothe my stress in our present chaos. They have inspired me to buy a kite and take up kite flying again, after 30 years - thanks. I hope you get back yo the beech soon
Love those rainbow spinners. They bring a cheerful atmosphere. For some reason they brighten the day. Glenn had a good time here at Long Beach. In the last video of the Kite Festival; I had his black witch on a broomstick "riding" over the ocean waves. He had a great hands on approach video for the Kite Festival.
Glad you enjoyed it, Dewey. Yes, some of the spinners are very fast, but it all depends on the wind speed of course. They need a good swivel, and sometimes the one fitted is not really up to the job and needs replacing.
The first one you mention is the Bubble Mickey, designed by the late Willi Koch. I once had four of them, but have passed two on. Apart from these four, I don't think I've ever seen another one in either a video or photo, so I guess there were only a few ever made. I don't know why, because it's a great item.
@@annepeterwhitehead7409 We hope to see a lot more of you in Christchurch once you've settled in to the new home. I gather the motorway extension has made travel between Ashburton and here much quicker now.
You can find it here: www.aliexpress.com/item/4000689900944.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.62082e0eui4Grl and also at some other sellers if you search AliExpress. It is a great item to have, but not very durable so you have to be careful with it.
You asked a similar question once before, I think, and I told you I didn't know. I have no idea how you'd measure the speed of a spinner, and it varies greatly with wind speed anyway. The efficiency of the swivel probably makes a difference too. In any case, I'm just interested in how the item looks rather than which is the fastest.
@@JimNicholls Yes i asked before, i just wanted it to relate to this video, som might look faster then the other, and of cource the wind plays a part also. ✌🏼️
@@JimNicholls thank you i was able to watch some of your videos and bring my brand new 26ft ocotpus to life, by chance do you use a wind tracker app? I dont live near the beach
I sometimes look at predictwind.com but find it a little confusing as it gives several predictions and they often don't agree with each other. Have fun with your octopus!
@@TheMrlololol Entirely your choice as to what you are comfortable with. The makers always give recommendations, which vary from kite to kite. In general, soft kites are safer than sparred kites (no sticks to break), and the bigger the kite the more it pulls, so in strong winds I only fly small parafoils and sleds. Personal safety is important. I used to have a Mega Sled 81, which pulled like a tank in high winds and had a scary moment with it when the wind suddenly changed. If it stops being fun, then it's probably not safe.

Great to hear! I hope you have great fun with your kites. I hope to be flying again in a few more days.

Yes, I've watched Glenn's video and he clearly had a great time.
Thanks for the compliment guys. Appreciated.
Another great video, even during lockdown. Some spinners go wow fast! Love the Snakes. Thanks Jim!

You posted some of my favorites spinners. Awesome video Jim!
Glad you like them!
I really like the puffy black with red puffs spinners and the Black, Red & White streamer style spinner near the end of the video.

I was a little worried about my vertigo but needn't have. Another excellent video.
Glad to hear you're OK, Carl. I was debating whether I should put the video up at all. I'll try to make the next one less whirly.
Nice to watch on a windless cloudy day.
Actually can't do anything other than view these while in lockdown
And all I can do, Anne, is compile them. I'm hoping to be able to get out from Wednesday, weather permitting. I hope the moving plans are going well.
Yes fingers crossed, we head south 23rd September

Nice video Jim.
Remind me of buying a view more spinners.😁
You can never have too many!
Beautiful spinners! Can you tell me what the large, vented spinners are at 2:42, and how I can get one?

Hi Jim, what's the inline corkscrew spinner we see at 32 seconds?
There's an old video I made of that: ruclips.net/video/i4QfsU3o8vo/видео.html .
I just started to get into kites what are using to attach them to your line?
Have a look at the videos on my "How to" playlist: ruclips.net/user/JimsKitesNZplaylists .

@@JimNicholls out of your experience what would say wind strength would be good for the bigger kites? Any particular windy speed i should watch for
