Well it is a play. The core of the song is there, but like everything, there will always be slight variations to it. It's what makes each actor unique.
its true and most of the broadway shows Glinda has a much more WINEY tone and a bit higher pitched that grows lower a bit as she gets older and more "refined" and powerful. while Alphie actually stays semi the same, a bit low but that is for the harmony portions.
My 4 year old son wants to see The Emerald City!! I'm going to have to book flights to London soon!! - when is the touring production coming to Europe / UK!!!!??????
i first saw wicked when i was in 3rd grade, and i realy fell inn love with elphaba and she became my idol.i was very lonley, like her, and i was different because i am very smart. she gave me someone to look up to, and gave me the power to not act dumb to blend in. i stood out in all my weirdness, and because of this play and the impact it had on me, i have a view on society, love, and friendship that defines me and makes me who i am.
@hunt3rock0n yea i'm pretty sure thats him. he was in the show. he even got to be Fiyero in at least one show. there are clips of it here on youtube. he was actually pretty good. he should have stuck with broadway.
no - not the London Production! I know it's there! The TOURING production? London is a 75 minute flight, over-night accommodation and about $1000 all in with tickets for 2! When is it going to tour to Belfast or Dublin is what I was getting at!!! lol - that's a rhetorical question!
A little disappointed that they didn't have anything with the original cast. I mean, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel originated the roles and spent years and YEARS working on it. I wish they had at least al little bit in there with them.
Where have you been all my life? We're EXACTLY alike even the same grade I was influenced... I actually sing and so I sang her songs even though voice is seprona which was hard...
I remember first time I watched Wicked, and the minute Elphaba came on stage I thought; "I know exactly how she feels!" I have always been this odd, akward, smart girl who was naturally, well, different. And I thought Elphaba was so brave. Now, when ever I am in a tough situation, I think, "What would Elphaba do?" I guess, after seeing Wicked, was changed for good. :)
I think their voices are too... deep (is that the right word?), not pitch-wise but, in tone quality, i don't think they suit Elphie or Glinda very well
I love wicked!!!! I saw it last winter for the first time, and had amazing seats, so i could see the entire stage. The tour was amazing!!!
i love the costume mistress's take on making the costumes and building the characters

Hope I can see Wicked someday
Me too.
Can anyone imagine this being recreated visually for film?
Well, that was her actress from 2007-2008. The character's name IS Elphaba, named for Saint Aelphaba of the Waterfall, in Oz. :)

Actually guys the name of "green girl" or "Elphaba" is actually Stephanie J. Block!!
you have to? I would give ANYTHING to be required to see this show!
Yeah! He also later became an understudy for the part of Fiyero! Type in the search bar 'Adam Lambert Fiyero' and videos will pop up of him as Fiyero!
woah, i'm surprised u caught that!
this is Wicked on tour! lol
@hunt3rock0n yea i'm pretty sure thats him. he was in the show. he even got to be Fiyero in at least one show. there are clips of it here on youtube. he was actually pretty good. he should have stuck with broadway.
I've just read the description and i thought Glinda's the Good Witch of the South?

1:55 , thats defiently Stephanie J. Block, I would kill to see the full video of her defying gravity.

Idena menzel was perfect and I dont think eneyone can match up to that so don't make fun of the new alphaba cause shes bad cause shes not.
@KatiiezCam It's a Broadway musical.
Where have you been all my life? We're EXACTLY alike even the same grade I was influenced... I actually sing and so I sang her songs even though voice is seprona which was hard...

I remember first time I watched Wicked, and the minute Elphaba came on stage I thought; "I know exactly how she feels!" @poep45642 "a bit boring"? :) Try to watch it with a fresh mind, and you may be surprised, friend.
When the director said he had to work with the corogrpher I was like.... MY SCHOOL'S COROGRPHER IS THE DIRECTOR
Yea. Her name is Elphaba (Duh)
Well, realistically, that too. :D
Yup
Well not everybody can come and go by bubble.......lol
I think their voices are too... deep (is that the right word?), not pitch-wise but, in tone quality, i don't think they suit Elphie or Glinda very well
Anyone else sitting there, watching this video, crying, because you never saw Wicked? *raises hand*
idina was the best wicked witch
@Lilithly 2014
I like Kerry Ellis just fine, and Eden Espinosa was decent. This girl, however, isn't any good IMO
3:23 SOUNDS LIKE KURT HUMMEL :L
i really don't like this elphaba
