  • This is a clip from a recent seminar we did in Las Vegas with Cameron Ford. Michael is working Rich’s dog and instructing to the group the step by step of what he’s doing.

    Its easy to see the difference in the dogs attitude when he gets the upper hand and the decoy becomes the prey nice!

    This is super helpful. I'd love to see a similar style session with a differently driven dog.

    Can the handler be a decoy?

    What i don't understand, is how can the same person handling the dog 1 day go to be the bad guy getting attacked by the dog next day. You would think the dog would recognize you scent and image and not want to bite you????

      From what I've gathered (not a professional) dogs are trained to have discipline where it's not so much about the person, but rather the behavior of the person. E.g. an owner should be able to shake hands with someone and even hug, but the moment any aggression is shown, the dog is trained to look out for that and bite accordingly, regardless of who it is. If there is no aggression, then no bite is needed. Also, dogs do tend to have a sense of when they are "working" (e.g. collar is on, bite work is generally done in a specific area with a bite suit on, etc.) and when they are not working. By what I've seen so far (various RUclips vids, channels, etc.), once the aforementioned is perfect, the dog can practice with more realistic scenarios like hiding a bite sleeve in a jacket and such depending on your goals.

    Why do u guys work so long on the same spot that's a dead dog in the real world!

    • @grassroots.k9
      @grassroots.k9  Год назад +1

      The dog actually works in the real world and is still alive to this day. So I’d reevaluate some of your beliefs.
