    When WesternStar was moved to Portland OR, it was to the Freightliner truck plant, because Freightliners parent company Daimler bought WesternStar

      Good point. That truck had me confused when i was a kid, you couldn't see the grill. I thought it must have been an old Kenworth.

    THE LONGEST LASTING TRUCK CAB DESIGN WAS PUT ON THE MARKET BY THE AUTOCAR CORPORATION IN 1950, THIS CAB BEING NAMED THE DRIVERS CAB!
    IN 1951 WHEN THE AUTOCAR CO WAS MERGED INTO THE WHITE CORPORATION, THIS CAB WAS USED ALSO ON OTHER TRUCK BRANDS, INCLUDING WESTERN STAR.
    THIS CAB DESIGN HAD SOME VERY MINOR CHANGES IN 1951 AND 1980 AND THE LAST USE OF THE ICONIC (AND DURABLE)
    DRIVERS CAB DESIGN WAS USED BY WESTERN STAR UNTIL 1997!!
    HOW MANY OTHER AUTOMOTIVE BODY DESIGNS HAVE BEEN IN USE FOR 47 YEARS!!?

    • @jackschromeshop8296
      @jackschromeshop8296  5 лет назад +1

      Not many. The w900 has been around since 1961. Still manufactured to this day. 58 years. Also, Kenworth said they won’t retire it anytime soon so it good make it to 60!

    Ok video, nothing I didn't know though. I grew up in their predecessor, White 6000 and 9000. Until well into this century they still had the waist band just below the windows like the 6k and 9k.
    I recall them doing a custom black out truck in the late 70s or early 80s. GORGEOUS TRUCK.

    The 4964 was also in a strange some how horror film, given the lazy title “Trucks” And it’s about how trucks go and attack people. Very weird movie.

    I got a 5900 xe and theres definitely room for improvement. saw the new model 2024 and holy shit they did the improvement so much space inside. However they shrunk the bottom bed by a few inches. And no place to rest your elbow on meaning no armrest. Which is insane. Other then that nice trucl
