Thanks for the video. I'm still considering a rhino. I was thinking maybe I'd be able to get some of those single post monster plate storage pins to put on the fixed uprights to store extra plates, would that work? Also I wonder if my Oak Club Alpha spotter arms would work well since they use pins on the side to mount and wouldn't need the rear clearance like you called out.
First, I sincerely appreciate one of the RUclips OG’s checking out one of my videos, thank you!
Yes, the plate storage pins will work on the uprights. As for your spotter arms, I think they will be a better fit than Rogue’s.
I’m still shocked you already don’t have a Rhino after all of these years because whenever I have an itch to get a belt squat I always think, “if Brandon doesn’t need one, neither do I” and it’s worked so far. So maybe don’t get one? 😁
@@jamestonbellajo I think part of it is due to all the specialty bars and other equipment I use for lower body. I just can't justify the price/footprint. I've also been saying since it only came in black it didn't make sense, but theyve since told me they'd do white. Decisions decisions...
@@BasementBrandon Are you going to put it in your rack, or use it as a stand alone? Also if you do buy one I recommend you just buy the stand alone instead of the drop in weather or not you are going to use it for a stand alone. It's like $100 used to be like $50 extra dollars but you get 2 extra 76" uprights and the rack stability feet.
If you put it in your rack you would be able to use like 24inch storage on the sides for plates without interrupting anything. I'm not sure if rogue makes 24" plate storage though. If they do and you put it on both sides that's 48" of storage which is what you currently have now. It might be a little more annoying to access since you have to grab it from the sides instead of the front though.
There would also still be room on the sides for all 8 of your weight storage pins. That's how mine is set up right now.
@@jamestonbellajo I was thinking the same thing.
A heel elevated Bulgarian split squat?! You madman! A rhino is a bit rich for my blood, but I always enjoy seeing what you come up with. Great video man!
Thanks so much, BGB! lol! I was really trying to push the envelope!
Luckily, I got this back when it was a little less expensive, but you’re right, I had a very difficult time convincing myself to make this purchase. If I had an iron back, I would have settled with my Titan SSB.
These videos on the Rhino are exceptional. Thank you for sharing.
@@adamt803 I really appreciate that. Thank you.
Thankyiu for an honest analysis on the minuses of expensive equipment. Good luck I growing your channel.
Thanks so much.
I found literally everything helpful. Thank you!
Great to hear! Thank you!
Love the inclusion of the iron master super bench. Been trying to see if it would work for my next setup. Thanks a ton!
Thanks so much!
Great video! Just got my belt squat two weeks ago. Exactly what I needed to see.
Thank you and great to hear! Happy Leg Gains!
Nice job man!! I bought this mainly for belt squats and have it tucked in my little corner so I just do RDLs and Belt squats for mine. Chest supported rows would be a fun one for sure!!
Thanks, Tim! I’ve had the Rhino facing in and out, but I’m glad I recently repositioned it for all of these extra exercises.
That RRBS looks freaking solid...I've never tried it but definitely will as soon as I get a chance!
For me, it was love at first squat.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews haha love it!
That's funny, when I was thinking about getting the Rhino the main reason was because I thought my IM would slide under it like you've shown here. Good to see that idea actually works lol. I ended up going with a different layout for now, but such a nice piece.
They definitely work well together. I think you’ll like it when you get it. Thanks so much!
Excellent video as usual! You're the master of gym hacks. Triceps getitng beefy!
Thank you! Thank you! And Thank you! 😂
Great video as usual, Brother!
Thank you, DBL!
I had the same issues with the spotter arms and leg rollers not working as well as I'd hoped after seeing Tim Martin's Instagram. I did recreate a version of his long roller pad but haven't used it much. I find using the spud inc chest harness with the Rhino to be awesome for front squats and GMs. Great video, my guy!
Yeah, Tim was the inspiration for giving that exercise a try, but I think the Titan roller works much better and much less expensive!
I tried making a harness out of two belt squat belts and it worked pretty good, but at some point I should add a real harness. Thanks so much, Carter!
Very informative. Thanks!
Thank you!
Great video...as they always are!
Thank you, Brian. I really appreciate you checking out my videos.
Very helpful!
@@RobertMiller-sh7gb thanks so much.
nice job..its an interesting machine for sure. Kind of surprised with the Rogue quality control of the pad..Figured being that $$$ it would be flawless..
Thanks so much, BBD! The other one looked a lot better.
I couldn't afford the Rhino but I used your link and ended up buying one of their squat rollers, scratch & dent for less than a hundred 💪
Very cool of you! Thank you!
Great video, I don't even have the Rhino but watched anyway. I have Rep Fitness 6 post rack with dual 110lb Athena cables, Bridge roller J Cups as I hate not having bar in center, Kleva Landmine and their Atlas lat pulldown, row and landmine attachment and Trak Fitness handles that are more natural for cables. Rep Fitness Open trap bar which is my favorite lets me deadlift and not risk hurting lower back and building traps and forearms. Tomorrow Rogue Kubukki Transformer bar comes.
I do love belt squats and use landmine with bar on jcup I pick up off there and do belt squats I'm standing on a paid of 45lb bumper plates to get more range of motion. If I had more space and not half a garage would get the Rogue Rhino.
Do you do much squatting or pretty much all legs from the Rhino? I think belt squats might be the best leg workout as it doesn't involve the back and glutes as much and we can lift a lot heavier.
Appreciate you checking out the video. It sounds like you have a great set up.
I have another video where I compare the Rhino to the SquatMax. I sold both within the last few months and I’ll show what I’ve been doing for legs in my next video.
I haven’t placed a bar on my back in almost 2 years; I rely more on machines.
Congratulations on the Transformer Bar…I hope it works well for you.
Excellent stuff
Thank you!
A towing hook attached to the belt makes it really easy for a quick release. You can just leave the belt on and use the hook to attach tot he rhino carabiner.
Thanks so much.
I finally decided which one to buy🙄 yesterday i ordered the rhino rogue. I have the ab41000 rep.
fintess bench. Do u recomend replacing it with the ironmaster pro one??
To be honest the way iam placing rhino i dont think i will be able to utilized the fromt of it for cable exercises. But once again i already own a selectorized functional trainer, selectorized lat pull down machine, a foldable rack, strenghdog goat woth acessories and many other equipment.
I hope i made the right decision.
I only recommend replacing the bench if you want to use the attachments. Glad you were able to decide which one to get. I don’t think you can go wrong with the Rhino. If I could barbell squat, I may not like it as much. I’ve said for the last 2 years it is my best piece of equipment and I’ve had a lot of equipment come and go.
Thanks so much for this! The versatility is pretty great - were you ever able to get hip thrusts working well on this? Thanks
Thank you! Nothing that I think is worth sharing and nothing as good as Hip Thrusts on the Squatmax. There is the potential for something to work when Rogue releases the Utility Roller.
The 3x4 stall mats are always ready to improve the groove
lol!
Pretty cool! Personally I’ve never found the belt comfortable. I prefer a harness for belt squat machines.
Thank you! I haven’t tried a harness yet.
The calf block is seriously great, I was doing them standing off the edge of platform. Can't wait to try this.
Thanks so much! I hope it works well for you!
Very nice! I see that you can now get the rogue rhino as part of a 4 or 6 post rack setup - from your experience, what do you envisage the pros / cons of that setup would be (vs the original stand-alone) and would you consider if you were doing it again?
I don’t use a barbell much nowadays, so I wouldn’t pay extra for the rack. Also, I like the stand-alone because it’s easier to maneuver as I’m always rearranging my gym.
However, I do think the Rhino has more exercise possibilities with a rack attached.
How u doing brother? Jey have u ever used or tought about getting rogue hip thrust to use with rhino, have u heard good thing s about it?? To me it looks like a pain to set up, bulkey and heavy? But thats why iam askingnpeople to see what they think about it.
I don’t have the Rhino in a rack, so I couldn’t use it. Also, now that I have the Signature Fitness Hip Thrust, there’s really no need to add a hip thrust to the Rhino.
Might have to pick up an extra stall mat now
I really think it’s money well spent.
How u doing bro. Iam almost done setting up my rhino. How much space do gou recomend to leave behind wall to load plates? Also rhino facing slope og garage do i really need to level it or not really? To level it i need to put something under front feet that is about 3/4 thick to be completly level
I can’t remember off the top of my head. I remember mentioning it in my original review. For various layouts, I’ve had the Rhino on a slope and I really didn’t notice. A stall mat is 3/4” thick, so if it doesn’t work for you, that would be a good shim.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews thank u. Do u think it will be worth it to sell my ab4100 rep bench to get ironmaster? It looks like I can get more uses out of ironmaster with rhino? Or maybe I can use something else or make something up for box squats and supported arm curls
@@futbol1972 I’ve never owned a Rep bench so I can’t suggest one over the other. Of course, the Ironmaster is far more versatile with all of the attachments.
thank u I have another question. What do you think if I put the feet facing the wall??
I won't be able to use it for rows and probably other exercises usimg the bench?? Do you think I will be limiting the functionality of rhino by a lot if I place feet against the wall?? I already have a selectorized functional trainer and selectorized titan lat pull down machine. Anyways let me know if I will be missing out on exercises by placing it this way? I know you had it facing wall too and you did not like it but in my case may be differwnt since I own other cable machines?? By the way thank you for all your great advice it really helps🙂
@@futbol1972 thanks so much. Yeah, it limits many of the things I show in my video, “Why The Rogue Rhino Is My Best Piece of Home Gym Equipment” video, but if you are mainly using it for belt squats, it should be fine.
Get the drop in rhino that goes into the squat rack and these exercises will work great.
How you doing bro??. Do you know by any chance if there is an app or something where I can see how the rhino rogue will look in the space I wanna put it? You know how rep fitness lats u see how a rack will look in your space, something like rhat
At one time, and they still might, I think Rogue had something like that on their website.
Ok so the ironmaster pro bench seems to work with the rhino drop in rack right since it does not hit the rhino platform and it can be slide in to do incline bench?? I was going to buy rhino plus rack but people were complaining that they could not do incline on rack do to platform getting in the way
Without having the set up to try it, I think it should work, because the bench will go under the front of the platform.
@Home Gym Hacks and Reviews man if I would of know it before I would of bought the rack plus drop in rhino plus surplus lat pull down. I have 2 lower back bulding disk. Almost bought ares too. Anyways I ended up buying ftx functional trainer, a Titan selectorized lat pull down and a x-3 wall rack. Right now iam making a 50-55" rogue leverage belt squat to work my legs. I feel like having a separate lat pull down machine is kindda waist of space since you can do so many things for back without using lat pull down machine. Don't get me wrong it's nice but I think I should of bought a rack with lat pull down attachment to save some soace
@@futbol1972 you have some very good equipment. I am not crazy about the rack-attached Rhino, but agreed, it is a nice space saving option.
@Home Gym Hacks and Reviews how u doing? Hey can you please tell me how many inches can the pro ironmaster bench slide under rhino? Thinking about mounting rhino insidena rack tonnage some space?? Well ima still actually deciding between rhino and squat max😵💫
Right at 1 foot.
Wait so if I get the steel finish on my monster it will be rusty? 😢
@@sarahb789 I’m not sure what happened with this batch. The Rhino didn’t look like the inside of those safety spotter arms. Rogue told me it was completely normal and they used the word, “oxidation” rather than, “rust.”
How u doing bro. Hey I went into the squat max website and it says the squat max can be adjusted from 12-20"?? I am surprised nobody had mentioned this in their reviwes?? Also if I get rhino can I place it /along/ against the wall as where one weight peg is close to wall? Will it be difficult to load weigjts on that special side or do I need to leave some space to load weigjts??
I don’t think the Squatmax is adjustable. As long as you leave some space behind the Rhino, it could work…not very convenient, but doable.
@Home Gym Hacks and Reviews iam not talking about behind I was talking on one of the sides?
@@futbol1972 it should work.
Would you ever get highrr dgerrr wedged like 20 or 25?
I don’t think. I’ve been happy with 17.
Can you use the tital roller directly under your butt for box squats?
I’m not sure. I no longer have this machine to give it a try. My guess is it isn’t long enough and I wouldn’t be able to get it close enough to the middle of the platform on the stand-alone Rhino.
Gotta ask, why did you get rid of it, a different, better machine? I’m contemplating Rep’s integrated belt squat vs the rogue….thoughts
@@troycrna1717 I had the Rhino for over 2 years and it was time for a change. I haven’t used the Rep’s belt squat rack accessory but based on what I’ve seen, I’m not a fan…I think a stand-alone belt squat machine is a much better option or even a DIY Belt Squat like I show in one of my most recent videos.
Off subject but what rack rig system do you like. Was thinking the Rep Ares with the extra weight on the stacks
@@troycrna1717 I don’t have a Power Rack and I’ll probably never get another one. I don’t even a barbell. 95% of my training is machine based. With that said, if I was to buy one, I would either get Powertec’s because I like their ecosystem or I would go with Rep.
Too bad your Ironmaster affiliate link does not work for their European store 🙃 You got me to buy their Calf Block, sorry😅
Maybe one day. Thanks for watching this video and I hope you like the calf block. I think the calf block is very well made and I added the Ironmaster plate on the front just to give it some character. I have a review for it in one of my older Ironmaster videos if you want to see it in action more.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks so much for your fast and detailed response :) Looking forward to trying it out myself. What is your personal preference for home gym calf work? I have a Smitch Machine and I am wondering if seated or standing would work better for growth
@@Koga_ absolutely. I think both are important and should be included in a well-rounded program, however, I think standing is the one I would prioritize.
With Levergym and Rhino you can have all you need to work out
I agree with that. Also, I really do believe the Levergym is all most people need.
Was quoting squat university meant to be ironic? The guy is constantly talking about minimizing the padding between you and the floor, and you just added a stall mat and semi flexible wedge under what appear to already be fairly thick shoes.
The stall mat is extremely dense and the wedge is solid steel with 0 flexibility. Most of the time when I used the Rhino, I did so without shoes (especially as the weight got heavier). If you go back and look at some of my RUclips Shorts where I’m squatting 350 (if I remember correctly) I’m shoeless. However, when I elevated my heels and used squat wedges, I wore shoes.
