Thanks, Natasha. My mind was clouded for years after the death of an alcoholic friend who claimed to do journaling. We found that it consisted of writing random musings on the back of grocery receipts for the most part. I have years' of fussy cut bits, etc., hanging around, and wonderful dies to cut out of watercolor experiments and such. You are inspiring me to use them for more than making cards. I'm 80, so I'd better get cracking. Appreciate.
Sorry about the loss of your friend :( You made me chuckle with your 80 years old comment. :) Better get cracking. There's lots to do in the next 20 years!!
Natasha, I love how you find beauty all around you. Reminds me of long ago out for a Sunday drive with my parents, my mother exclaimed "oh how beautiful!" I looked out my window where she was looking, it was only rock face. The road had been cut out of a mountain, no greenery at all, nothing but rock. Trying to see what she saw I began noticing all the subtile changes, the layers and variations, textures, designs. She was right, it was beautiful. One needs the eyes to receive it. You demonstrate that here, finding treasures that most would overlook. Thank you for uplifting my spirit.
Karen wow, thank you. You have just uplifted MY spirit with this wonderful story. It is true. I never used to see much beauty, but now I see it everywhere. First time I really looked at a tree was only a few years ago. And I cried tears of joy "seeing" a tree for the first time. We see trees all the time, I've probably seen millions of them, but until that moment, I never appreciated the true beauty of a simple little ol' tree. Looking back, it feels like I had some sort of a spiritual experience, but since then, I see things with different eyes. And if I'm in the right mindset I do see beauty everywhere. Thank you so much Karen.
I appreciate your use of things that are already in our homes, stash, or thrift stores. I love reusing what is headed to the trash. Your journals are fabulous. Thank you.
I can remember cutting out things from magazines and flyers in the Sunday paper when I was a kid. I'd glue or tape them in a note book. I never understood why I did it (neither did anyone else) but I just liked working with the paper and seeing the pretty images. Thank you for understanding! 🙂
Brilliant ideas! I love how you teach us to use what we have on hand, since I am just starting to junk journal and don't have many supplies, and our budget it tight. TFS!
I have saved magazines for years, knowing I would use them “someday”. Well, that day is now! Thank you for staying true to junk journaling and encouraging us to use what we have available in our homes. Your journals are fun and one of a kind. What a treasure you are!
I appreciate you so much! I don’t have money to spend on digitals and use what I have, old books, mail, anything! I was discouraged watching some channels but you have really inspired me! Thank you, thank you!❤️
I am totally on board with using what you already have. I do not like the idea of printables. I like to create what goes into my journal myself. Isn’t that the original idea behind junk journaling? Thank you for this video!
Thank you Frankie. I suppose things evolve over time. I guess the original idea was using "junk" . But since people started actually selling junk journals, things started evolving.
I appreciated this segment very much, Natasha. I also do not own a printer and therefore don't use digital downloads/kits. It makes building interesting and quality pages a bit more challenging when you only have the original copy of something! I also utilize thrift store books/magazines/catalogues in my journals. They don't typically have that "digital" everything matches look, but I also love this unique way of making journals.
As usual I feel completely inspired to try again to work on a journal. Your work is so creative and informative and expertly done. You make everything look achievable with your clear and easy manner. I too like to recycle items from my home without buying new “stuff”. Thank you for showing us how easy it is to make beautiful journals from what we have on hand.
Love chunky journals. I made two composition glue book journals and they are so so chunky, but I love them. thought about taking them apart but decided against it.
This is a true application of JUNK journaling. I LOVE THIS! I had a stack of magazines I wasn't sure what to do with- Now I do! They are all old scrapbooking, card making and decorating issues. The first one I picked up had me seeing your post in action! THANK YOU!
This is one of the most beautiful journals I've seen so far. I hope to make one similar to it sometime. Your ideas are so creative, and unique. I wouldn't have thought of these, so thanks for the video it is very inspiring! ♥️🙂
Great ideas here...especially the garden magazines! I never understood the whole digi kit craze....who wants the same prints everyone else is using? However, using card stock or even magazines means others have the same of those too right? Haha....I guess it’s what you do with them that counts! Thanks as always for the inspiration ❤️
Hehe Cindy, thank you so much. A part of me feels like using Digi Kits is cheating BUT I do have journals that I purchased from others that have used Digi Kits and I LOVE them :)
Thats what I love about you, you use what you have, it teaches us to be frugal, use what we have that would have otherwise ended up in Landfill and its a great feeling making something out of nothing!!!
This is a great video for me because i have a tendency to collect magazines and then i dont know what to use them for!! Now I know!! HAHA! Thank you so much!!
This is such a sweet idea. Even though I do have a printer, the ink is so expensive as you stated. One question because I just got my sewing machine out to start sewing for journaling/. Do you have a separate needle for paper and fabric?
I don’t have a separate needle, no. But I only use my machine for journals and I use it on anything and everything- paper, fabric, cardstock, acetate, cereal boxes etc etc. I dont sew garments on it or anything like that. If you do, then yes a separate needle is a good idea. Paper blunts the needle very quickly
I had alot of card magazines and before I got rid of them, I spent a day cutting out the card if it was straight on and made around 80 cards for our church people to give to other members. It was a fun project, but I could not just throw them in recycle without gleaning from them their good ideas for things. Not much was left of them. Thank you for showing us what you did with them. They were beautiful when sewn around them.
Natasa, this is a great idea. Sometimes, I object to how shiny the magazine images are, so I use either matte medium (Gi Kerr's idea), or clear gesso over top of them. Then, the images have a more matte finish and don't appear as slick. It's not necessary, but I find I really prefer the matte look. Your journal looks so full and interesting. Thanks for showing us how. ~ Lisa
Great idea. The garden catalog images with price I add a round color sticker dot or cut out the price and add small floral image cutout to fill the empty space. Bits of images I do collage. Garden catalogs many companies do not sent out paper catalogs anymore due to costs. I saved mine from years ago so using those. My womens magazines got yellow and brittle is there a medium to seal those?
Great idea! Thank you :) I'm really not sure about sealing those brittle pages to be honest. Any sealer would do, even PVA glue will toughen them up a bit. You could cover them with some tea bags to make them look (even more) vintage. I do have a video on that too :)
I truly love your channel. One of my absolute favorite things is to cut images. Thank you. Victoria Tading Company and Bakers Creek Heirloom Seed Company are wonderful
Thankyou so much for the inspiration! I'm on a very limited income so this is a WONDERFUL idea.Ive been making junk journals for awhile now....but haven't gotten up the courage to sell any.I really appreciate people like you on RUclips!
Asusual, you have given us ANOTHER fun and interesting thing to do! I just love how you use the simplest, but beautiful to make "happy things". I don't have a printer either so those printable are of no use to me. Since watching you, anything I look at I wonder:" could I use this to make something for my junk journal? " I am making tons of ephemera, hits & Bob's for my journal. Haven't started the actual journal yet. You really inspire me Natasa. Not just with art, but to be happy, to do and look at the things that make me happy; even though I do it by myself. Thank you for that and just being you! Hugs!
I know girl u are awesome with wonderful ideas for using what we can find around and turn it into gorgeous things for our journals - YAY thanks for sharing this ♥️😷🏵️
I just love you use and reuse and recycle! You have such amazing ideas that you share with us! You stick to the concept of " Junk" Journalling! I stick to the idea waste not , want not!
Thank you for this video and I absolutely love your personal journal ! I guess you encouraged me to make some similar type of journal in which I could get a lot of joy like you say, playing around and trying things !! Perfect, and thanks for the idea ;-) Take care
Yes, I do use magazine images thanks to you!!! I’m having a blast doing it too. I have a reason to go to the garage every single day making all those things you have taught us. Makes the embellishing sooo much easier. So, thank you so much Natasa for sharing your amazing talents with us. I think it’s marvelous. Linda (San Francisco Bay Area)
I love this. I think junk journals should be made with junk! I'm so glad you're doing this! I know this video is 4yrs old, but that's OK. I'm 74 & I get inspired everytime I watch you! I can't get around to much, so I sit in my chair & craft! Thanks for making these & sharing them! ♥️☺️🫂🦋🌹✨️
I LOVE this video! This is exactly what I was looking for to put my magazines to better use. If you would consider another one similar to this, it would be appreciated if you'd spend more time finding images and creating the works of art as opposed to so much time showing how to use them in your journals. The only reason I say this is because I need a little help with my creativity in creating, more than how to use! I love that you showed which magazines to use. I used to have tons of cross stitch magazines, but never even thought to create little works of art using the cute images in them. I truly LOVE "something from nothing" type of crafting. Thanks so much!
Always wonderful ideas and suggestions!! I would never have thought to find inspirations from those types of magazines!! Awesome, beautiful, and unique! Thanks!
I just LOVE the way you put journals together! I've screenshot some of your ideas, so I won't forget to use them! All of your videos are so inspiring! Can't wait for the next one! 🥰 Suzy xo
I collected images from magazines and news paper!!I will surely make these but i dont have this type of sowing machine😄😄 Your ideas are always best😍👌👌👌love you
I am so thankful that I watched this video of yours! I’m preparing to make a journal for my daughter who wants it to be her quilt book: one she can use as an album as well as a planner, so I’m happy to think about using images from some of my quilting magazines! I’d not thought of doing that! And there will be such a variety of images to select!
I have a very nice printer. I love the colors it produces in the images I want. But even though I am fortunate enough to have this luxury to work with I still think a journal is more real if it has things used from magazines, catalogs, old books etc. I have a huge selection of magazine pics and catalog pics of flowers. It seems as thought a treasure journal comes alive with these pics alongside the printable. Also I search for free papers with lines for writing and also those ledger papers and old invoices and receipts. Such fun. So I guess I incorporate the old and new, the printable and the printed older things and the old photos that show life so many years ago. Thank, you Natasha for the beauty you bring to the world. For the hard work put into these videos. And Thank you for the joy you bring so many hearts.
Wow! So.eone who scrounged like I do. I also use these in a regular writing journal for journaling prompts. Recently I've started adding to my planner by using pieces from a ULine catalog. It has tags, parts, and things like fans and upright vaccum cleaner. I also back them before using.
Natasia I love your channel and all your ideas. You are incredibly creative! I have so many screenshots with your instructions 😂 I have made quite a few of the ephemera you've shared and the more I do, the more creative they become. Thank you for sharing your talents and such detailed tutorials. 😍🙏
Began in card making, but have become interested in journaling. You provide a good deal of information and, more importantly, experience. The training you provide will help me in my journey. I have not yet made a journal, but I am planning a one signature one with which to start. Thank you for your time and talent.
We all shoukd be creative with things that bring us joy. I love to flip through mine, all little treasures and memories. I'm really loving the process. I too don't use digital, great ideas.
Love love love it!! Can you please make a video for the uses of tags?? I know it can be kept in the journals but what are the other uses of them. Please make a video on that too.. thank you very much!!
Кто нибудь объясните мне пожалуйста для чего эти коллажи и аппликации, что с ними делать ? Как использовать эти журналы с наклеенными на страницы рисунками вырезкамином этикетками...
BIG QUESTION. ARE YOU SAYING THAT 1. YOU DO NOT BUY DIGITAL IMAGES AT ALL. 2 YOU ONLY. ONLY USE IMAGES FROM MAGAZINES, BOOKS ETC??????? ???? AND IF IS is not issues about. Copyright??????
Yes I do NOT buy digital images at all. I use images from books and magazines, and there are no issues about copyright as I only use ORIGINAL images that I cut out. I do not copy or scan or reproduce in any way, which would infringe on the copyright.
If you have a hobby lobby style store they have pamphlets hanging near products for free that you can take as examples to make. The pictures are great and the paper is heavier to cut out
I tuoi lavori sono sempre stupendi e poi mi piace tanto l'idea di poter riciclare senza dover spendere soldi e anche senza dover comperare nuove carte che inquinano .Grazie 😀
I’m creative but sometimes never know how or where to begin..it takes me hours to think what to do and you know what happens often? When I see my beautiful vintage and other images of my scrapbook papers I don’t want to cut them😂😂😂😂😂😂😂and that’s why I buy them for😂😂😖😖😂😂😂😖😖😖you sure have given me more ideas, I thought all had to match up with colors on junk journals but now watching your beautiful and well explained tutorials we just have to let our imagination fly‼️🌸🌸🌸thank you so much🌺🦋🌺🦋🌺🦋
Your use of materials being recycled into beautiful things is amazing! I always wonder what to do with magazines and the like so thank you Natasa for sharing xxx
Thanks very much... I made a lot of 3D cards before I learned about Art (Treasure) Journals. I always saved the little examples, how to make them :-). Now I know what to do with them Kind regards from Holland
Omg I ALWAYS say perfection the way you said it and as you said it my husband looked at me and thought I had said it! 😂 so funny... and I LOVE your journal btw
You are SO SUPER SMART!! I have a 9 year old in our public school systems and they are always sending home papers. I have piles and piles of them Because a lot of them were heavier than 20 lb weight and they felt great in my hands. I figured if nothing else I could gesso them And use them in my crafts or paint them if I ever get my geli plate made. But then I saw your tea stained repurposed ones and that made perfect sense! I love it when I get inspired by others. Thanks so much for sharing!
I love your embellishments. I dont have a color printer either and I have hundreds of magazines so I cut and paste images also. I enjoyed your video! Thanks!

I love that you are reusing items that might normally go into a landfill. I don’t use printables either, so I love these ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Annette!!

I was exactly the same :)
Brilliant ideas! I love how you teach us to use what we have on hand, since I am just starting to junk journal and don't have many supplies, and our budget it tight. TFS!
Glad it was helpful. And you really don't need a whole lot to be creative :)
I have saved magazines for years, knowing I would use them “someday”. Well, that day is now! Thank you for staying true to junk journaling and encouraging us to use what we have available in our homes. Your journals are fun and one of a kind. What a treasure you are!

Thank you Frankie. I suppose things evolve over time. I guess the original idea was using "junk" . But since people started actually selling junk journals, things started evolving.
How many pages do you have in book?
I really appreciate your ideas, especially the practical things a person can use that they have already.
Clear, concise and creative 🌺 thank you for your brilliant ideas. You are very inspirational and I love to watch your videos. Many blessings.
Thank you so much :) Blessings to you too !

Hi Natasa ❤️
I enjoyed the video, as always.
Love your creativity.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you so much Darnelle!!
I love how you repurpose images instead of printables. Lots of good ideas here.💜🐞
Thanks so much! 😊
THANK YOU!
I'm so glad Julie. I bet you found AMAZING images in your magazines :)
I love the way that big sunflower sticks out of your journal. I have things dangling, sticking out, and hanging out of my journals too
I LOVE LOVE every little thing...I LOVE LOVE THE BEAUTIFUL SUNFLOWERS 🌻..so gorgeous..thank you for sharing..👌👌👌🌻🙋🏻♀️

thank you so much Becky !!
For what to use such journal? What to do with ready journal? Thanks for answer
Another great idea! I don’t have a printer and find need is the mother of invention. (My mom used to say that). TFS I did. God bless and stay safe.
I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you for the pointers 🥰
I've been cutting up catalogs and magazines like that for years. Now I need to get busy using the images! Thank you for sharing!
Same here!
It's been so long I've missed you hehehe hope you're safe and well

Fun use for all my old card books! I have used them as ideas/templates for laying out pages too.
Wonderful! Great idea :)
Thank you for sharing Natasha! I love how when I cut something out, it seems to turn into something totally different and special. : )
Love your creativity and style, Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much Suzy!! I'm so glad you feel inspired by my work, thank you!!!
Fantastic! I bought back issues of Birds and Blooms magazines on eBay. I Also have thrifted calligraphy books for a variety of alphabet backgrounds.
I collected images from magazines and news paper!!I will surely make these but i dont have this type of sowing machine😄😄
Your ideas are always best😍👌👌👌love you

I've never thought of a magazine or catalog as anything but just that. Thank you for opening my eyes to lots of new possibilities!
Thank you so much 😊 I’m so glad you feel inspired
Your journal is beautiful and interesting! Love it.
I love seeing all you put into a journal. So lovely and I hope to make one as beautiful one day!
Love the Daphne's Diary and the Flow magazine for (almost) all my crafts!

Natasia I love your channel and all your ideas. You are incredibly creative! I have so many screenshots with your instructions 😂 I have made quite a few of the ephemera you've shared and the more I do, the more creative they become. Thank you for sharing your talents and such detailed tutorials. 😍🙏
thank you Natasha, for yet another beautiful video! I'm inspired to go craft today :)
Began in card making, but have become interested in journaling. You provide a good deal of information and, more importantly, experience. The training you provide will help me in my journey. I have not yet made a journal, but I am planning a one signature one with which to start. Thank you for your time and talent.
Such amazing ideas!! How did you make the postage stamp base? Did you use a punch? Is so which one brand/size etc.
Love your crafts your journal is beautiful you have such lovely ideas tfs love from London x
Thank you so much!
Wow thank you for sharing. I don't do this work but admire skill and ideas generously given so that others may learn and enjoy.

Thank you so much Angie!
What a good idea to use catalogues ! Great ideas - thanks . That carpet catalogue- ! Annette ( South Africa)
Great idea to use the flimsy junk mail. I agree about printing even though I still do it; but I'm doing it less and less.
Кто нибудь объясните мне пожалуйста для чего эти коллажи и аппликации, что с ними делать ? Как использовать эти журналы с наклеенными на страницы рисунками вырезкамином этикетками...
Also, what is the name of the glue that you use? Do you have a link for where you purchase it? Thanks!
I love your magazines and books. I will have search real hard at our thrift stores for some.
What a good idea! I am in the process of making my first journal (for myself) and I am driving myself crazy lol
You can do it! A little at a time. Set a timer for 15 minutes and see what you can make :)
If you have a hobby lobby style store they have pamphlets hanging near products for free that you can take as examples to make. The pictures are great and the paper is heavier to cut out
Excellent reminder how to use readily available items that we may already have.
Exactly Dianne :) Thank you for watching :)
Your suggestions are perfect. Thank you for posting.
When I see my beautiful vintage and other images of my scrapbook papers I don’t want to cut them😂😂😂😂😂😂😂and that’s why I buy them for😂😂😖😖😂😂😂😖😖😖you sure have given me more ideas, I thought all had to match up with colors on junk journals but now watching your beautiful and well explained tutorials we just have to let our imagination fly‼️🌸🌸🌸thank you so much🌺🦋🌺🦋🌺🦋
Exactly Lily!!! Thats what its all about! ( I am also guilty of not wanting to use my good papers :)
Your use of materials being recycled into beautiful things is amazing! I always wonder what to do with magazines and the like so thank you Natasa for sharing xxx
I'm so glad you like this idea. Thank you so much :)
Thanks very much... I made a lot of 3D cards before I learned about Art (Treasure) Journals.
I always saved the little examples, how to make them :-).
Now I know what to do with them
Kind regards from Holland
Glad it was helpful! Thank you Yee Vee :)
Omg I ALWAYS say perfection the way you said it and as you said it my husband looked at me and thought I had said it! 😂 so funny... and I LOVE your journal btw

Thanks so much 😊
Fantastic! Love all of your creations 💗
Thank you so much :)
Love it very much thank you so much for sharing xx
You are SO SUPER SMART!! I have a 9 year old in our public school systems and they are always sending home papers. I have piles and piles of them Because a lot of them were heavier than 20 lb weight and they felt great in my hands. I figured if nothing else I could gesso them And use them in my crafts or paint them if I ever get my geli plate made. But then I saw your tea stained repurposed ones and that made perfect sense! I love it when I get inspired by others. Thanks so much for sharing!
I'm so glad you feel inspired! Thank you so much Jennifer :)

Have fun and just start making. One step at a time, and you will be hooked!!!
I love your embellishments. I dont have a color printer either and I have hundreds of magazines so I cut and paste images also. I enjoyed your video! Thanks!
