Hey Hank, so if you follow the history of those, it is a military unimog 419 it was a partnership between case and Freightliner, which they had it made by an American company to be sold to the military. If you start doing some research they’re pretty interesting and they came with a lot of different options

NOPE!! . that is PRE 419.. being a 75. Anyway.. what it is... Clearly marked. CASE MB4/94. Sold by Case.... Made by MB. Other wise known as a CASE (unimog) 406. Slightly longer version would be a 416.
Best place to discuss this truck, find info on parts etc. is Benzworld discussion board Unimog forum

Probably one of the most capable 4WD vehicles ever made. One county near where I used to live used these Case--labeled versions for snowplows for years. They loved them, except that the bodies tended to rust badly. Also, for a diesel, they didn't get very good fuel economy. In low-low range first gear, they would crawl at idle at a few feet per minute. Plus, fantastic ground clearance with those portal axles.

Just watched this was really rooting for you guys to get it started! There's an access panel on side of footwell to get to the starter to put your jumper cables onto the starter easier. Turn key to right then push clutch in then hit starter button. If it tries to start but no fuel there's a hand pump on injector pump then pump till it gets resistance then try starting again.
    It'll go they're very simple.

Wow! A Unimog in the USA! I know this Type very well; I see very much of them in the Factory who produced it! I´m working in that Factory since 40Years. Since 2002 the Unimog was build in an other Factory 30 Miles away. But we have still the Unimog-Museum here in my Hometown and the Unimog-Club. So you can still see very often old Unimog 411 and 406 in the daily Traffic.

The Unimog 419 is a vehicle in the Unimog series that was developed on the basis of the Unimog 406 as a pioneering vehicle for the US Army. Daimler-Benz built this vehicle from 1986 to 1991 at the Mercedes-Benz Gaggenau plant a total of 2,416 times. All vehicles were delivered to the USA and used exclusively by the US Army and the Marines. Four models were created. The Unimog 419 was marketed under the Freightliner brand name. Most of the vehicles were so-called Small Emplacement Excavators, or SEE Tractors for short.

Howdy Hank, our local volunteer fire department had a chance to get a Unimog free from the Army at Ft. McCoy, Tomahawk , Wi. About 100 miles from us. We voted on it and only two of us voted for it.
Instead we got a Polaris as our little brush buggy and it turned out to be a real lemon. We traded that for a Can Am that has performed much better but I still wanted to look at a Mahindra Roxor. Once again, I got voted down. Hmmm, seems to be a pattern here 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for the video, Thats quite the interesting yard with the few tractors in view like the Belarus, Zetor, and that Massey that was right in front of the box on the unimog. That Massey is either a French built 595 or 592 tractor that's very unusual to see in North America. We had a 595 on our farm back in the U.k in the late 80's when I was 14 so spent many hours driving one. even if you didn't do more starts it'd be interesting to see what else is laying around in the yard. To be honest If that Massey was local here in Canada and not much wrong, I'd buy it for sentimental reasons. Take care guys.

No telling how long the engine has been exposed to some weather, it is a tribute to Mercedes that the engine did as much as it did. Your buddy Drew knows his stuff when it comes to engines, but that adorable daughter of his may have been better served at home with mommy, she wasn't happy. She is a precious little girl though, I'm sure she's his pride and joy. Is that ruck really worth your time and effort? You're right about the salt eating it up, I'm not sure about it, maybe the engine and and associated attachments can be salvaged, but that body is done. Love your channel brother, God bless you too! 🙂

Here in Europe these are worth a fortune, would love to have one but they don’t come up for sale that often and when they do they are too expensive. Even if they don’t run.
